[Those who know him can probably hear in his tone that he's legitimately worried about this. It doesn't show on his face, though.]

A time machine? What for?

That whole...thing what happened at th' end o' th' year, gave me an idea. All those folk from the future an' all. Got me thinkin', 'f things go real bad then it'd be good t'have a back-up plan. Suppose th' Jabberwock does come back an' we don' have th' sword by then? Kin use a time machine t'go back an' get th' Sword 'fore it gets lost. Could use it t'reset all 'f Wonderland, 'f things go that far.

[He pauses.] Caelondia hadda similar idea. Tha's what th' Bastion was really built for. Might be th' same here as there, where ya can't...ya can't really change th' past. But I figure we should have th' option.

Even if we can't change the past, I don't think any future could be worse than the one we were told about...

'Zactly. But if we can't prevent it, 'tleast we kin have a reset button.

'Course I dunno 'f it'll even work.

Yeah. 'S what I figgered. I jus' haven't wanted t'tell anyone 'bout it an' get their hopes up or nothin'.

Did you find some kind of plans for it?

Sorta. After all that end o' th' year stuff happened, I started askin' the closet for everythin' it could send 'bout th' Bastion. An', well, never sent anythin' to specific, but I was able t'piece 'nuff of it t'gether. That an' addin' some this-an-that from other worlds.

So...kinda jus' been throwin' stuff at a wall an' seein' what sticks.

I wonder if the library might have anything from your world that talks about it.

I ain't seen anything. I been lookin', though not all that hard.

I'll see what I can find, too. Maybe even something from another world will help.

I been piecin' things together from diff'ernt worlds already, but every bit helps. Diff'ernt places got diff'ernt methods fer this sorta thing.

Yeah. I guess there's the possibility it'll make things more complicated, but it's worth a try.
