second dream | video.
[ when bran stark addresses the network for the second time in his stay in wonderland, it is far more grave than it was the first. the youngest of the starks--now the middle child, through the strange mechanations of this place--looks deadly serious as he addresses the camera, though he does still nod his head in greeting. there's an obvious tension to his shoulders, even as he speaks. ]
Good people of Wonderland, I hope this message finds you well.
[ he hopes they are as good and kind as bran has so far been treated, and his fingers curl in his lap outside of the video, finding the cloak of one jojen reed, so far invisible to the camera, save for a couple of tufts of blonde hair. ] I come to you to ask for your help, and I'd be truly humbled if you would spare me a moment of your time.
Late last night, my companion became very ill, and though this is not uncommon, I fear that I-- [ his mouth draws tight for a second. ] I don't know how to treat it. He has a waking dream, where he begins to twitch and seize, and sometimes, foams here. [ bran reaches up and touches the corner of his mouth--the first sign of real emotion crosses his face beyond the princely facade he'd put on, eyebrows knitting together in serious concern. it becomes far more obvious that this child is just that; a child. ] Though he has woken, now, I don't know how to help him, and...I need someone to teach me, though I cannot offer much in return. He is very ill, and has been since his arrival here, I must--
[ "today is not the day I die, little lord" ] I cannot stand by while it happens.
[ bran looks off screen, swallowing a lump in his throat, and jojen murmurs something just loud enough for bran to hear--he returns to the camera and adds on; ] If Lady Rachel could hear me, I would like to speak with her as soon as possible, as Jojen has had a greendream.
Thank you, Wonderland. Thank you very much.
[ there's some fumbling and reaching, the video shakes, and then it clicks off. ]

Still, he lays still and listens to Bran as he speaks, reaching up when he feels his fingers curling into his cloak where it's been pulled over him. He curls his own around them, looking up at the younger boy where he lay. ]
Perhaps that cousin of yours will come forward. [ There is a touch of amusement there, because Jojen is looking for normalcy in this moment after being unnerved for the first time during a vision. ]

his brows furrow and he looks down, blue eyes tracking over his face, his small, pale fingers, anything he can, as if to get a better read on him. ] Now is hardly the time to jest, you know. [ but, he adds, quietly. ] Mayhaps she will.
[ the dream is what's probably the most important, but bran can't shake the worry that drapes over him like a heavy cloak, as he thinks of what his mother did for him when he was sick. it's a faint memory, and he touches his forehead, hot to his fingertips, and feels his stomach churn with worry and fright. ] We must tell Lady Rachel everything--perhaps she too has had a similar vision. [ but bran doubts it nearly killed her, as it seemed to do to jojen just now, and his worried hand doesn't stray from his forehead. ]

[ ... Jojen's sister told me that he almost died from a terrible sickness as a child.
she doesn't want to assume that this is the same sickness he meant the first time they talked, but it's hard not to let her brain go there. so she looks worried when her video feed flicks on, kind of sitting too close, like she feels like this isn't enough, just- answering a phonecall. she wants to help. ]
We need to get him better before any of us get too wrapped up in that dream, I think. For his sake. I mean, I don't know how to cure anything, not beyond the ol' chicken noodle soup remedy, so we might have to wait until a doctor or somebody answers you on here, but- [ rachel stop rambling wow ] - in the meantime, did you want me to come over? Is he okay to talk? [ she'll even bring soup ]

Lady Rachel, I hope the day finds you well. [ it's a little hollow, but he does try for his manners, and his brow furrows a little further as he just nods his head, not quite trusting himself to speak quite yet.
after a second, though, he adds on, keeping his gaze downwards towards where jojen rests. ]
This is not the first time I've seen him seize in such a way during a vision, but it was by far the worst, and I fear that he will only get sicker now that it's happened. [ i miss meera, he thinks, though he does not say so, and instead nods his head. ] He is weak, but waking, my lady, and he would like to speak with you as much as I would.

He'd meant to try and find him and meet him and try and figure all of that out, but now his friend is in trouble and James decides to just skip that part entirely. It isn't really the time. It's definitely Bran, though he's much more formal than he remembers him.]
Bran? Bran, he'll be alright, okay?
[He's pretty sure he knows who his companion is - he'd had a friend in the event, someone he'd told their ridiculous secret to, but his name is escaping James now. But it had to be that other boy, right?]
Listen - I dunno if you knew her before that event, but you remember Martha? She really is a Healer; it wasn't just the event changing her memories. She's got a clinic on the first floor, and she'll be able to help your friend. [Then, without any hesitation - ] Do you need help getting him there?
Video
especially with the advice he gives. the first floor--the clinic would be near them, very near them. ] I do remember, my lord. Lady Jo told me I should bring Jojen to her during the...event, as you called it.
[ but they hadn't been able to--things happened too quickly for that to be attended to, and he had worried for some...curse, or some other reason that he barely remembers now. as for the help; he nods his head, biting his lip into his mouth as if he was trying to keep from crying. robb didn't cry, and his father didn't cry, and so bran wouldn't cry either, as if he were a babe on his mother's breast still. he is nearly a man grown and he must not cry. ] He cannot walk well, and I cannot carry him. It wouldn't be far, if it would not trouble you.

Children are simple anyway; They are far more honest despite their spectacular ability to deceive.
He makes the connection with a look of sympathy in his eyes, his lips tight at the severity of the aforementioned symptoms. ]
How often do his seizures occur, and for how long?

his voice holds no trace of panic, but it is blatantly obvious on his face. ] Only when he's had a vision, my lord, and for minutes at a time. They are not long, but they're a fright either way.

He's heard words like these before, spoken to the same general tune. There are a lot of people asking for time and help on this message board, both items Peter hands out sparingly and only those who ensure they deserve it. But a moment to listen to a boy's heartfelt request... that is something Peter is willing to grant for the time being.]
That sounds serious.
[The teenager in the green tunic who answers sounds on his way to being concerned when he turns on the video function. He rarely uses it, but he never rules anything out.
The points of his boots loom large on either side of the camera. Peter is sitting somewhere outside as evident by the foliage around him, the device pointed toward him from a spot between his feet. Arms folded across his knees, he shifts, lowering his head toward the lens. What is Alice supposed to say? Curiouser and curiouser?]
What kind of waking dreams?
[Dreams are usually the key, as he's so often found.]
video;
Jojen has the Sight, and so he is able to see the future. [ he pauses for just a second, as if he wouldn't admit this, before he eventually does, softly. ] We've communed in dreams, and sometimes I can do the same, but...Jojen is far more powerful than I am, and I believe he may have had a vision of Wonderland itself.
[ he swallows, trying to put on a brave, princely face for the stranger. ] I've seen this before, but never have I had to help. I don't know what to do, or how to cure him--the more time we spend in Wonderland, the more ill he falls, and I worry that soon the fever will overtake him. There is no Raven here to grant the sight or save someone from death, and I fear that he will perish if I cannot find a way to help.

I assure you he's no animal. [ although he doesn't know what "take him behind the barn with a shotgun" even implies. what's a shotgun?? the world may never know. his brow furrows, and he looks a little irritated. ] I believe I know what's wrong, and there's no way to fix it that I know of.

Where are you, boy? Are there no doctors here?
[Probably not, and her own knowledge in medicine isn't as acute as the rest of her skills.]
[ video. ]
I--a maester, or a healer, or anything, if we have them then I have only heard stories. Even still, the fever is near uncurable at home. [ it was something they'd bonded over--near death gave them sight. ] I fear greatly for his life, my lady, and I have little knowledge in medicine or--what to do in case it happens again.

He's had a vision--he has the Sight, and the vision had him seize so terribly I thought he wouldn't come out. [ his voice doesn't waver--it takes a lot to keep it steady. ] But, his sister told me in the North that he was gifted the sight because he almost died from greywater fever, and I fear that...
[ well, that part goes unsaid. bran bites his lip for just a second, giving her a sort of desperate, hopeful look. ] Can you help him?

I bet there's plenty of folk around here who can whip your friend back in shape. Maybe with-- [ and a part of him feels almost conflicted at this. ] -- some sorta special skills. There's a clinic, too-- I know they can help.
[ beat. ]
It'll be alright, Bran.
video.
[ granted, he'd said "i need the cure for greywater fever", which gave him a strange bottle of some kind. bran didn't really trust the blue liquid, and set it aside. ]
Thank you for your concern, my lord, truly. [ he gives him a small, tight smile and bobs his head in a bow. ] I have heard strange things of death in this place, as well.

I can see your friend, you don't need to give me anything. [ It's not like he needs much here anyway. ] How is he now?
video;
[ he looks down at jojen for a second, as if assessing, giving the camera a serious look as he describes it. the symptoms of greywater fever are mainly lost on bran, as he'd never seen such a serious case before he met bran--it was a disease only known to the neck, a sickness he never would have experienced. ] Since he's seized, he's been very weak and feverish. He has been feverish since we arrived, truly, and unable to walk without any form of assistance, such as a walking stick. [ he glances down again, swallows a lump in his throat. ] He is my dearest friend, and I cannot bear to see him in such a state.

[It's the first time they've spoken since Wonderland had seen fit to throw them together. Outside of the event, they were strangers, but somehow that didn't change the fact that seeing him so pained struck a chord with her, made her stomach turn. Those memories may have been fabricated, but they stuck with her, both vivid and persistent.
She and Bran didn't really know each other, but Wonderland saw to it that she cared anyway.]
I don't know how I can help, but-- I want to. I don't think my first aid will do him much good, but I can help get him to the clinic, see if one of the doctors can do something for him? If they haven't seen this already.
I confess that I fear it is incurable. [ even by the maesters, by the magic of the north. ] It feels as though all I can do is pray to the old gods and new that perhaps he'd come through once more.
Your help is truly kind, my lady. [ and he gives her a small, stressed smile. ] I hope that perhaps Wonderland will be able to help.

I have heard tales of a clinic on the first floor, do you know if they are true?
( video )
Sorry, I.. She's a really good friend of mine. [ a small apologetic smile flashes to the surface, but his wariness doesn't go anywhere. ] Have you tried taking your friend to a doctor yet? I bet they can come to you if he can't get there himself.
( video )
[ surely there's no harm in that, though bran thinks, belatedly, he might not tell people that jojen was a seer. the younger reed hadn't been at all conspicious with the information, though, so maybe it would be alright. ] I believe we have heard from a healer on the first floor, who will come at once. Thank you for your concern, my lord, truly, for myself and for Lady Rachel as well.
