video;
[The feed is initially dark and grainy, showing not a whole lot of anything, though there is sound. Specifically, the sound of someone taking a few steps, tripping, and falling over with a surprised sound that's not quite dignified.]
Ow...
[As the unfortunate new comer starts to right himself, his hand jostles against the device and closes around it automatically. The camera angle changes as the device is turned over, inspected, and then a very surprised and confused face appears on the feed.
Kaneki is pretty average looking, except for the eye patch. Right now, he's a bit scuffed, dusty, and what little can be seen in the faint light from the screen shows he's in the caves. He fumbles the device for a moment before he manages to hold it steady.]
Er... I think I'm in a hole...somehow. I don't know if there's anyone around or if I have reception at all but if there is someone...
[He offers a smile that's equal parts embarrassed, apologetic, and nervous, rubbing the back of his head with his free hand. Actually, maybe he's more nervous than the other two.]
I could use a hand, if there is.

[Kaneki was still innocent to the violence of the world of ghouls-- or at least more so than he last saw.]
I've got your scent. I'll be there soon.
[He was heading down to the basement now, he hadn't been down here yet.] Hu. I didn't take you for the dark and dank kind of person, Kaneki-kun.
Video
[If he can help it, anyway.]
Um...where were you before you got here, Uta-san?
[He really hopes he's just over-thinking it, but it seems odd that Uta would ask that of him to start with. It's a question that's out of place in a normal conversation, which might mean there's some possibility for a discrepancy between them, right? He can't really grasp the implications right now, but it's bothering him like an itch that shifts every time he thinks he's managed to reach it.
If it does turn out to be nothing, then he's just making conversation.]
Video
[Going to ignore the fact that you were freaking out on them and they had Tsukiyama there to help save you from kidnappers. He's just...glad you are safe and sane right now.]
This place seems to alter time.
[And he is in the caves now...how fun.]
I think I found the hole.
Video
Oh! Okay, tell me if you can hear me without this thing.
[He lowers the device and raises his voice.]
I'm here, Uta-san!
Video
[As he heads towards the source of Kaneki's voice his hand lightly pokes and picks at the brick icicles on the walls and the ceiling.]
This place looks fun, doesn't it?
Video
[More like deadly.]
I keep thinking they're going to come down on my head....
Video---action
[Not a ghoul at least. He finally shuts his comlink off as he nears where Kaneki is. Wow, you really were in a hole.]
Can you not climb out?
[Like, even with your tentacles?]
action
Kaneki's standing down in the hole, peering up at Uta.]
I tried. [Not using his kagune, though. Shhhh.] I couldn't get up high enough to pull myself out.
[He's not Touka, okay.]
WOW I DID NOT GET THIS NOTIF AT ALL
Let's see.
[He didn't have any rope or anything...but he is lanky enough to maybe help. He gets on his belly and hangs his arms down the hole to Kaneki.]
Jump to me.
;o;
[Kaneki gauges the distance, then glances around, takes a step back and a breath. He can do this. There's no reason in the world he can't do this
other than the fact that he is Kaneki Ken.]Sorry about this.
[He takes the couple running steps the width of the hole allows him and uses the uneven rock wall to propel himself upward. It's not exactly graceful, but he gains enough momentum and height to grab onto Uta's arms and start to haul himself upward.
Maybe there's a parkour career in his future after all.]

Anything interesting down there?
[He gives him the once over to make sure he is okay. After seeing that there was no visable damage he begins to lightly pat off the dirt and dust from Kaneki's clothing.]
no subject
No, it's just more rocks.
[He shakes his head and self-consciously steps out of Uta's dusting-off-reach. Other than the dust and dirt, he's unscathed. His eye patch even made it out intact and in place.]
I've had enough rocks for awhile, I think. Do you know the way back out?
no subject
[Once the dust is mostly gone he stops and turns to stare back at the darkness behind them.]
I should have left bread crumbs.

If we go back the way you came, we should find an exit, right?
no subject
[No worries, he's got this. The smell of fresh air was actually coming to him now. He took a few steps into the darkness before he paused an waves for Kaneki to come along.
Lucky for them they were ghouls, this was like high noon for them.]
no subject
Uta-san? Can you tell me more about this place? How did we get here? Where is this?
no subject
[He pauses for a moment as they near the exit.]
You read a lot, you should know about Wonderland.

I've read the books before. This doesn't seem that much like what Lewis Carrol wrote about, in a literal sense.
[On the other hand, in terms of nothing making sense, so far it's spot on.]
