[It's pretty early on the second day of the event--it's only just turning light outside--when Souji turns his camera on an interesting device he's made from stuff he's found around the area.]

I had to make one of these for a project in middle school. [He turns the camera around to point at himself.] I thought it might be handy if we manage to draw a crowd.

[Next, he turns the camera on a pile of junk--but heavy and sharp looking junk--that he's gathered. Based on his other zombie-event experiences, this stuff should work well enough.]

I'm going to need a hand to try it out, if anyone has some time.

I won't. I promise. [He holds up a pinkie as though she's there and he's going to pinkie-swear it.]

( That gets Lydia to smile, and after a few seconds she holds up her own pinkie, video making him pinkie-swear it )

Good. I hope it works. And doesn't draw too big of a crowd that we're in trouble later.

That's kind of what it's mean to combat, so I hope it won't be the cause of it.

I think if you choose the right area to fire it into it should be okay. Nothing close to the gates, and if there's another distraction out there to keep them further away that would help. It just means going out there.

Right.

I'm going out with it mainly because if I managed to break the wall somehow, that would be worse than having to retreat back inside.

[intelligently]

Not breaking a wall would be a good idea. I'd go out with someone fast, or strong. Someone that could definitely get you back in.

[Souji nods.] This wouldn't even be a problem if I had my powers.

[intelligently]

You have powers?

( Things she still doesn't automatically ask: this )

Yeah. Here, I mostly use them for healing. But I have some offensive powers, too.

What can you do?

I have a few elemental attacks and some that are mainly just physical force. But I've also got some healing and protective spells I can use. They aren't much good outside of combat situations, though.

[intelligently]

Protective spells sound like they could be useful more than in combat.

Is it magic or something else?

[eatsyourscience]

It's magic, in a way. It's the power of my soul given form.

[Or something.]

I think a lot of the spells have broader applications than I'm used to them having. I still haven't figured them all out, though.

Have you talked to anyone that knows about magic here? I've asked people about supernatural things from their worlds but everyone's stories are different. The information is still useful.

( It was also more difficult when the knowledgable people hadn't encountered something specific - like a banshee as opposed to a werewolf, but information was information )

I haven't.

[Which, now that he thinks about it, is a little strange, since he's been here so dang long.]

It's a little weird that that never occurred to me.

It's not weird if it isn't something you wouldn't normally have done. Some people keep what they can do a secret, so asking about it wouldn't be their first thought.

[That makes sense and he nods.] In Wonderland, I really only use my healing skills. They're the ones people usually need.

But if I use my defensive skills more, maybe the healing skills won't be needed so much.
