( the video opens with a pair of bright blue eyes, far more fur than any one creature could need, and a practically thunderous purr. it's not surprising, seeing as Hook has tried about 5 times to set the thing up to record and the damn cat keeps knocking it over. his company is painfully exposed as he scoops up the purring beast and puts it on the floor.

no he's not going to mention or talk about the cat. that's not important, all right? thanks to that bloke with cat fantasies practically all of Wonderland has a cat. that's not what he's trying to talk about.

the pirate looks tired, but anyone that knows him knows that's a 24-7 thing for him. he's been tired since he arrived, months ago. that doesn't seem to be stalling anytime soon. not sleeping doesn't help, but his busywork does, at least a little. busywork for a pirate means making maps, which means... )

Is there a proper map of this place? I haven't spotted one yet. If there's not, I've been considering starting on a draft. It won't do us any good once the place is tits up on these events, but it's not a horrible thing to have on hand.

( he rubs at his forehead, as Dave jumps back up onto his desk and paws at the many pens scattered there. )

I'd ask for a star chart while I was at it, but speaking of things going tits up, the stars here are absolutely mad. I don't remember them being like this when I arrived, does anyone know what happened to them?

( the stars running wild bothers him more than he cares to admit. stars shouldn't move nightly... it's utterly ridiculous. Dave seems to have decided that the first eight times he was put on the floor for messing with the camera were just a cute joke, and tries to nuzzle it with more of those dementedly loud purrs. the pirate sighs and plucks it back off the table to the floor. )

If anyone has experience with cartography, I suppose I'd take the help. Making a map from scratch is difficult.

I'm still there. We just freed Merlin from the tree...thing. Mom and Robin are in Storybrooke too. I mean, when they're not here.

So, I remember things in Camelot but it doesn't look like anyone else does.

[Not that he knows enough to make it an advantage.]

What exactly do you remember?

( he's desperate for a tell or a sign or a reason or something that could have made Emma accept the darkness, and so far he hasn't come up with much. what could send her toward the one thing surely all of them tried to help keep her from? the thing she'd wanted to be saved from in the first place? )

Well, I tried going out on a date with Violet, that was really terrible.

[But Hook probably doesn't mean that.]

Someone tried to kill mom. Regina, mom. Robin got hurt really bad instead, and Emma used magic to heal him. Then...she started hearing voices in her head, I think, but you helped her with that. And then somehow moms found a way to get Merlin out of the tree, so they did, but it turns out King Arthur is a pretty terrible person and I think he's going to try and kill him. It's kind of unclear. I came back right when some fighting started.

( nope, not what he meant, but... good for you, Henry??? if it weren't for the rest of that information Hook might have teased him about taking a lady out but now didn't seem the time. )

I don't remember any of that. From what I hear, I'm not the only one. How many times are we going to bloody forget things we need to remember?

( his frustration is evident, because not remembering what happened to Emma is really making him lose his cool. )

Good question, but I think maybe I should start keeping some kind of journal. But mom’s working on big scale potion to help with that. Regina, I mean. Because even if we figure out what’s going on while we’re here, we’re going to all forget again as soon as we leave Wonderland.

[Which sucks.]

So...have you seen Emma? In Storybrooke, I mean. After Camelot.

[Henry swallows a little, because he hasn’t heard what’s happened yet, he doesn’t know what to expect.]

So I've heard. Hopefully she manages it.

( he could complain that Regina wasn't great at making memory potions when the whole town had forgotten what happened when they were sent back to the Enchanted Forest, but he knows Henry is not the sort to respond to negativity about his mother.

and speaking of things he'd rather not talk about with Henry... his jaw knits together, and he looks down. he could lie, but that wouldn't get him anywhere either. )

Aye. I did. We all did, we were in the diner.

Mom and Robin don't remember that. What happened? Please, I need to know.

[His mind goes one track, and he needs to hear what happened, as far as Hook knows. Henry wants to know what he's eventually facing.]

( somehow he thought they all more or less remembered the same thing, or, lack there of. wasn't that why Regina wanted a memory potion?

he doesn't really want to talk about this, it's clear on his face, but he thinks Henry deserves to know. it might inspire the boy to work to keep it from happening. )

We were all in the diner. Dressed differently, that was the only way we had any idea we'd gone anywhere. We were talking, and Emma found us. She was... different. The darkness, she'd accepted it, but I don't know why.

All they know is that they were in Granny's wearing Camelot clothes. That's it. Then they were back here.

[He listens intently, a frown on his face as his lips tug down. He doesn't say anything for almost a full minute, but then.]

It had to be something with King Arthur. When we freed Merlin from the tree he was so mad. But then I got dragged back here, so I don't...I don't know why. But she wouldn't accept the darkness unless she had to, or she was forced to. I know my mom. I know she wouldn't.

If I had to guess, she did it to protect someone. I couldn't tell you who or why, that just seems to be most like her.

( though her wide threats of punishing people made little sense with that perspective... honestly, it's all very baffling. )

[Henry agrees completely, nodding a little before making an almost instant decision.]

Well, no one’s gonna let her stay that way, so Wonderland just...needs to let one of us go home so we can figure it out.

[This is a time when being stuck is absolutely infuriating.]

Or all of us. That would be my preference.

( he agrees that being stuck in such uncertainty is hellish. still, he's not waiting for wonderland to decide to let him go, he will find his own way or die trying. )

[Henry wants to find a way out too, though he doesn't think he would actually mind being here if someone he loved so much wasn't in real, dangerous trouble.]

Zelena tried to make a portal once. It backfired and instead, a lot of stuff that'd happened here before happened all over again, all at once.

[He doesn't even think it matters that she was trying to do the time thing again - it hadn't worked, was the end result.]

And I could trade a memory for magic beans, but...if they don't work, I lost a memory for nothing.

I have heard she's been up to no good, between her sulking and scowling. I'm glad that not too much ill came of it.

( apparently her no good has left her a little less destructive, though, so... win some lose some??? )

That's at that marketplace, is it? I don't know how to grow the bloody things, but I've got a great deal more years of memories than you to trade. If you wanted them, I'd be willing to make a bargain.

( it seems unbelievable that magic beans wouldn't do any good, but... they'd need to try before they knew for sure. )

[Henry's quiet for a moment, and he knows what Hook is saying, about him having more memories, but still. He cares about what people are doing because he has an out there idea that may or may not work.]

But then if they don't work, you'll lose something for me that you can't get back.

[He knows this is what family does for each other, and that's exactly how he thinks of Killian now, but still. He's afraid of the disappointment if it doesn't work.]

Henry, I've lost plenty of memories to time and stupidity already. No matter how it ended, this one would be for a much better cause.

( it's taken a long time for him to turn around and actively start trying to do the right things. but there's no part of him that would regret losing a memory if it helped the people he cared about. )

[Henry could honestly hug Hook right now, if they were together, but instead he looks very Touched and gives him a little smile.]
