TIME FOR A YACHT PARTY, HOW FUN (video + action)

( this is far from his first "event" in Wonderland, but somehow that doesn't make it any easier. he's seen a lot of demented creatures in his lifetime, that simply happens when you're as old as he is. he's not interested in sticking around to let them gnaw on him, and he's got a very good escape route to get away from the madness. )

Listen. I don't know what these things are, but I'm willing to bet they can't swim. If you can get to the docks, we're taking off in under an hour.

( he doesn't know most of the people trapped here, but he's not heartless. his ship could get rather cramped, but when it's life or death on the line, he'll take anyone who wants the shelter. )

If you damage my ship you'll be fixing it yourself. Worry less about what you're bringing and more about getting here safely.

( that's it, that's the message; he probably won't talk too much to anyone that responds, other than to answer questions. )

When the man says an hour, he really means it. As soon as everyone pertinent is aboard, including some individuals he wasn't exactly expecting (a friend of the people he cared about was good enough to grant passage), the ship sets sail. It's easier to get The Jolly Roger moving when there's more than just one person running about her decks. Don't know how to sail? Well, get ready for a crash course lesson, because all hands on deck.

After that, it's more or less a waiting game. There's a barrier to protect the ship and after that, it's up to the people aboard to keep themselves entertained. There's more food than one would expect, between the pirate and the stores people brought along. One can expect to eat, though perhaps not eat well. When it's survival on the line, though, do you have any room to complain?

There's not a great deal to keep one entertained, though. There are hammocks to sleep in in the crew quarters, a deck to walk and places to explore. The captain's quarters are very much so off limits and if he finds you there he'll be displeased. There are a few games, trinkets, things here or there. Maybe you can get some lessons in sailing or swordsmanship while you're aboard... Make the most of it, because it's hard telling how long you'll be stuck on the steadily rocking decks.

It could have been a lot worse.

[She leans over to press a kiss to the top of his head. Teenage angst or no.]

You'll get better with time. We can't work on your fireballs right now, but we could practice something else.

[henrydaniel]

[He doesn’t pull away from that at least, and instead looks up at her.]

Like what?

[She has his attention now. He’s not a quitter, he’s a damn Swan-Mills, if anything failure makes him more determined once he’s done feeling bad about himself.]

[madehervows]

[Regina thinks for a moment. Teleporting is probably out, which leaves telekinesis.]

Have you been practicing moving things?

[And then;]

How about people?

[henrydaniel]

[He nods at the moving things part, then pauses, tilting his head to the side a little.]

Moving people? Like...poofing them or actually moving them like I move other things?

[He's kind of imagining making people float with his mind.]

[madehervows]

Like when you move objects.

[Regina shakes her head, because;]

We'll practice poofing other people when there aren't creatures running around Wonderland. For now, though...

[Regina looks around, before conjuring an apple on a nearby barrel.]

I know it isn't much, but I want to see if you've practicing on your own, first.

[henrydaniel]

I've been practicing.

[He sort of insists it, because even though he sucked at magic earlier, he really has been taking it all seriously.

So, the apple raises and since he kind of hates apples now, it hovers in the hair before he uses his magic to toss it right over the edge of the ship, listening as it makes a splash in the water.]

See?

[madehervows]

[Regina gives a small clap, but the proud smile on her face tells Henry how she really feels.]

Good work. Now let's see if you can move something a little heavier.

[Nevermind that they're on a ship, she's just gonna summon a reasonably sized boulder on that same barrel.]

[henrydaniel]

[Right away he does realize it's going to take a lot more concentration and he wets his lips, getting the boulder to raise slightly, but it's wobbly and his hand is shaking a little.]

I can...I can really tell the difference. I didn't think how heavy something was would matter that much.

[He just figured, lifting a magic object, is lifting a magic object.]

[madehervows]

[She watches him carefully, eyes on his face rather than the boulder.]

Don't push yourself too hard.

[She hadn't been expecting him to do it flawlessly. The fact he can lift it at all is impressive enough. Once it becomes clear he's struggling too much, she waves her hand and the boulder disappears.]

You're doing good, Henry. I wasn't sure if you were going to be able to move it at all.

[henrydaniel]

I kind of feel like I don't want to do it again for a little while.

[Just that small amount of time was sort of exhausting.]

How long did it take before you felt like you were...I dunno, really good at magic?
