TIME FOR A YACHT PARTY, HOW FUN (video + action)

( this is far from his first "event" in Wonderland, but somehow that doesn't make it any easier. he's seen a lot of demented creatures in his lifetime, that simply happens when you're as old as he is. he's not interested in sticking around to let them gnaw on him, and he's got a very good escape route to get away from the madness. )

Listen. I don't know what these things are, but I'm willing to bet they can't swim. If you can get to the docks, we're taking off in under an hour.

( he doesn't know most of the people trapped here, but he's not heartless. his ship could get rather cramped, but when it's life or death on the line, he'll take anyone who wants the shelter. )

If you damage my ship you'll be fixing it yourself. Worry less about what you're bringing and more about getting here safely.

( that's it, that's the message; he probably won't talk too much to anyone that responds, other than to answer questions. )

When the man says an hour, he really means it. As soon as everyone pertinent is aboard, including some individuals he wasn't exactly expecting (a friend of the people he cared about was good enough to grant passage), the ship sets sail. It's easier to get The Jolly Roger moving when there's more than just one person running about her decks. Don't know how to sail? Well, get ready for a crash course lesson, because all hands on deck.

After that, it's more or less a waiting game. There's a barrier to protect the ship and after that, it's up to the people aboard to keep themselves entertained. There's more food than one would expect, between the pirate and the stores people brought along. One can expect to eat, though perhaps not eat well. When it's survival on the line, though, do you have any room to complain?

There's not a great deal to keep one entertained, though. There are hammocks to sleep in in the crew quarters, a deck to walk and places to explore. The captain's quarters are very much so off limits and if he finds you there he'll be displeased. There are a few games, trinkets, things here or there. Maybe you can get some lessons in sailing or swordsmanship while you're aboard... Make the most of it, because it's hard telling how long you'll be stuck on the steadily rocking decks.

That's what the Sibling Brothers are called in other worlds, right? [Dipper shrugs a shoulder.] Me and Wirt have a running comparison going, though he's useless for anything after the eighties.

I... guess. [Her brow furrows.] Yours is the only world I've heard of that's like... a near miss of ours. Or maybe it's the other way around.

[Her mouth narrows into a thin line.] Though mine isn't supposed to have zombies.

I don't think anywhere's supposed to have zombies.

Touche. Tell that to poor Ellie, though. [She hangs her head slightly. Ellie's had to deal with it her whole life- Max wouldn't have survived ten days, she thinks.]

I think she knows. [Just cause it has them doesn't mean it's supposed to have them.] I hope hers can get defeated someday.

[mypartnerintime]

Yeah... me too.

[She tries to think of something slightly more cheerful. They're on the boat, and safe, and... not helping out in the Mansion. But there's nothing they can do about that now, and Max isn't sure what she could have done to help, anyway.]

You know, in a lot of zombie movies, other humans are at least as big a threat. But not here. [That's cheerful, right?]

I mean, it helps that our zombies go away after a few days. We don't have time for humans to start causing trouble. And looting's pretty pointless here.

[mypartnerintime]

...Do you think people here would get all crazy if the event lasts way longer? [Because that's a scary thought. She's not so used to sleeping in the same building as people with magic or gigantic guns... That's a pretty big step up from high-school dormitory drama.]

[krmvgivv]

It's hard to say. [He frowns, tilting his head.] I mean, we're also a pretty small, self-contained community, and like, there's not much to gain by turning on each other. But people don't necessarily use logic when these situations go down.

[mypartnerintime]

I was hoping you'd say something like "people here are generally nice." [She actually chuckles very slightly, and with some sincerity, which surprises her.]

[krmvgivv]

[Dipper raises an eyebrow, smirking a little.] Mabel would probably say that. I'm the realistic one.

[mypartnerintime]

With your head in the clouds. [She puts a finger on the book lightly. Not that it's a jibe or anything- Max's head is often way up there, too.] I guess there's nothing else to do, anyway.
