002 || Video: Post Ewaymas

[It's very rare that Rose graces the network in Wonderland, only having appeared once since she arrived here. That in and of itself makes this particular video rather curious. The subject at hand, likely one that's playing on everyone's mind but has Rose looking more than a little unsettled, despite her attempts to play at casual.
Clearly, she thinks the best way to deal right now, is to attempt to overdose on sugar; A plate piled high with an assortment of pastries, appearing in the corner of the shot.]
So... That whole thing with the Wonderland that wasn't really Wonderland?
[Her eyes narrow, teeth running over her lower lip as she carefully considers what she wants to say before giving it voice.]
We're all in agreement that it didn't really mean anything, right? It was just some, fake, alternate... you know, thing?
[She's obviously reaching but all this 'sciencey crap' is way outside of Rose's wheelhouse.]
Another one of Wonderland's stupid little mind games. [The unmistakable air of somebody trying to convince herself.
Rose breaks off a large chunk of a donut and pops it into her mouth, a flicker of doubt creeping in as she chews slowly.]
Right?

Another one of Wonderland's stupid little mind games. [The unmistakable air of somebody trying to convince herself.
Rose breaks off a large chunk of a donut and pops it into her mouth, a flicker of doubt creeping in as she chews slowly.]
Right?
video;
Sorry. How are you doing? [ The last time he had a conversation with Rose was... well, she brought him to the library and he'd geeked out over a book. That was the first and last time they spoke. Somehow it feels like ages ago; what with all the events and everything. ]
video;
Her brain isn't working enough for story time.] Even my eyelashes feel tired and I've already slept some.
[She was pretty sure there wouldn't be enough sleep to ever make up for this last week. She'd still be sleeping if she hadn't gotten stuck in a whirlwind of confusing thoughts.]
I think I preferred it when it was just monsters trying to kill us. [At least those she could fight.] You?
video;
Like his brother being dead.]Before I got here? I was in a coma for two weeks and I had this... recurring dream about New York exploding. [ He lets out a bit of a shrug. ] I don't know. Guess I appreciated the continuity if nothing else.
video;
If she can read between the lines, it doesn't show at least. Rose has grown up around a whole lot of tough guys. She fancied herself one of them, until she got hurt anyway. For somebody who could hit as hard as she did? She sure could sulk when she injured herself.]
You were in a coma?! [Eyes practically boggling out of her head.] That sounds... intense? [Her face all but saying: Yes, Peter. Please do tell me all about it.]
video;
So if there were monsters, you'd do what exactly? [ Peter remembers how she'd acted around him on his first day in Wonderland. Like she's some kind of tough despite her somewhat dainty appearance. (In his opinion, okay?) ]
video;
Kill them. [Her reply so matter of fact that it takes her a moment to realize how harsh that might sound.] Well, I mean... I'm not like, bloodthirsty or anything. But if there's a monster trying to kill me or people here then... Yeah. I do what I have to do.
[Even Rose knows she doesn't look like somebody who could take on a Monster and win. It's okay, Peter. She's learned to appreciate the fact that she gets underestimated by her opponents. Less so when it's by the people around her.]
video;
video;
Wonderland seems to attract that kind of Monster. [Her thoughts shifting to Angel. He'd been honest with her, admitted what he'd done in his past. He'd tried to explain it all but he'd made it clear he'd had slips, that it was an ongoing struggle and that meant Rose could kick him a whole lot further than she trusted him.]
I watch them and I wait for them to show who they really are. [It was a narrow-minded way of looking at things but Rose wasn't always good with the grey areas.
There's no joy in what she's saying now. It's not cocky and she's not making light of it.] Then I do what I have to do.
video;
So you don't believe that people are capable of change. [ He doesn't bother to voice it as a question. It seems pretty obvious. ] What exactly is it that you do? [ Because she's talking about taking out monsters like it's something she has experience with. ]
video;
Not that much, not once they've gone bad. [Flashes of memories playing out behind her eyes and Rose has to work to keep from getting lost in them.
That's not a question many people have asked her here in Wonderland, Rose unsure if she should tell him the truth or maintain the secrets that in this place? Didn't really mean much.]
I'm a Guardian... or, I will be anyway. I protect people from the kind of Monsters who can't ever change.
video;
Are you... human?
[ Aside from wondering if she's some kind of a guardian angel, he's also wondering if -- as a guardian she'd wait for a monster to strike or hunt them down. He remembers that time he'd tried to save the cheerleader in order to save the world. Despite all warnings against it; despite knowing he'd end up dead, he'd faced Claire's attacker, but the thought of killing whoever it was hadn't been on his mind at all. He'd only been looking to protect Claire. To give her time to escape. ]
video;
Yes, and no. [She didn't usually acknowledge her human side, but after being in Wonderland, surrounded by humans? She had to admit that in most ways, she was more like them than she was the Moroi.]
How much do you think you know about Vampires?
video;
If you count that one time I watched Interview with the Vampire, I guess... not much? [ His mother might have dressed him up as Count Dracula once for Halloween back when he was a kid, but he had more of a hunger for lollipops than a thirst for blood so he's not going to mention that. ]
video;
The image on his screen jostles as Rose reaches for her device, fumbling with it as she tries to change their conversation to private the way Simon had tried more than once to show her. It fails, of course, but she doesn't realize that as she sets it back down.]
Almost nothing anyway. [Her smile becoming more of a grimace.] The whole, Vampire with a soul thing? I wanna say it's a load of crap but... There is a race of Vampires known as the Moroi. They're born, not made and they're gentle.
[Well, that was debatable. They weren't killers but she'd met her fair share of asshole Moroi in her life.]
And they're in danger of becoming extinct because of another race of Vampires we call Strigoi. Moroi blood makes a Strigoi stronger, faster, harder to kill so they hunt them.
[Rose likes to imagine that somewhere, one of her teachers is impressed that she really did pay attention in class. Of course, this was just the kind of thing that people like her grew up knowing. Bedtime stories in the Moroi world weren't suitable for most children, not that Rose had ever been read one.]
There is a third race, though. Half Moroi, half human. We're called Dhampir and we're raised to become Guardians. We're what stands between the Moroi and extinction, for both our races.
[He'd see now as he looks at his screen, a tension radiating through her body, a look of apprehension that comes with waiting for fear or rejection.]
video; private
The tensed look on Rose's face doesn't go unnoticed and he tries to school his expression, making an attempt to seem at ease about all of this. It's a lot of information to digest though.
Before he makes a verbal response, Peter checks to see if the conversation's been switched to private mode, notices that it's not and does just that. ]
So if a Strigoi's food of choice is the Moroi, what does a Moroi and a Dhampir feed on? [ Yes. He's interested to find out about the vampire pyramid food chain. ]
video; private
The fact that he hasn't completely freaked out is enough for her to work with. There was a reason why, only two people in Wonderland had ever learned much about who she really was. One of them, was gone and the other? Well, she was still waiting to see how this conversation with Peter would go.]
A Strigoi will happily feed on a Dhampir as well, we're just harder to kill and our blood's not as potent. [Some even prefer Dhampir.] Moroi eat food like people do, but they still need blood to survive. Dhampir don't feed, we're just, like everyone else.
[She can do this, 'the facts', even if she feels a bit like a walking textbook. She's learned her flippant replies tend to create confusion for the worst, so she's trying here; Mostly because it matters to her that Peter understand.]
