[When the video clicks on, at first only Mettaton is visible. After a few quick seconds, however, it becomes obvious that he is standing in an empty room. There is nothing remarkable about it in any way, shape, or form. It has four walls, all stark white, and one wall with a window and one wall with a door. All in all, with how utterly unremarkable it is, Mettaton looks almost comically out of place.

The look of empty sadness on his face is the only thing that matches the room.]

Wonderland, have you ever felt an absence? As if one day your heart is whole, the next, something important in your life, something you always thought would be there, is gone?

[He means both literal and figurative in his case, but he knows he's in the minority on that front. He turns to look out the window, facing away from the camera.]

It's like a piece of you is missing. Like you'll never be quite full ever again.

[He pauses. He doesn't want to speak this into reality, even as the reality bores in on him as bright and biting as the walls around him.]

I'm sure that those of you that knew her will understand my feelings when I say that... Alphys is gone.

[His voice crackles with static.]

And I don't think she is coming back.

Will you manage to sustain yourself in her absence? With regards to maintenance, I mean...?

Absolutely. There is a great absence in Wonderland without her.

As for maintenance, he hadn't actually... thought about that all that much yet. The pain of her departure was the only thing at the forefront of his mind but Fitz brings up a rather chilling point.]

Overall, Alphys created me to be rather self-sustaining. But that's mostly in non-combat scenarios and daily life, though a regular tuneup and check up is recommended. With Wonderland's rather large penchant for dangerous events however, I don't know what will happen to me if I sustain an injury thanks to it.

[He never realized he took her presence in his life for granted until right this moment. He tries to not look nervous.]

If you're injured, then I want you to come to me, all right? None of that hobbling about attempting self-repair nonsense. I can't promise that anything will result in a perfect match, but I ought to be able to help you back into good condition.

[Mettaton gapes for a moment at the camera, completely blindsided by how... kind of an offer that is.]

[He really can't find the words.]

Thank you. I mean it. And it's not as if I am completely out of luck- I do still have the blueprints of my body that Alphys made when I came here so we still have some knowledge to access.

[He's trying not to cry again, but if his eyes are kind of watery, don't worry about it.]

Have you worked with robotics before?

I dabble here and there. One of my passion projects from home involved prosthetic limbs. I think it's a skillset that ought to translate well enough to suit your needs. [His canonpoint is about a year away from helping to build and maintain a fully-functional android of his own, though.]

But I can learn. And with your help, I think I can do a good job.

[He smiles a bit, suddenly reminded of Bucky. Perhaps what they say is right about time- it does seem to heal a lot of wounds.]

I know Alphys dabbled a bit in that herself. She helped a few people here in making some.

[His smile grows until it's a confident, beaming one.]

Absolutely! I think you can, too! You can only get better if you're working on perfection such as me.

[Look at that, he's sounding a bit like his old self again.]
