💔💔💔💔💔 Video 💔💔💔💔💔
[When the video clicks on, at first only Mettaton is visible. After a few quick seconds, however, it becomes obvious that he is standing in an empty room. There is nothing remarkable about it in any way, shape, or form. It has four walls, all stark white, and one wall with a window and one wall with a door. All in all, with how utterly unremarkable it is, Mettaton looks almost comically out of place.
The look of empty sadness on his face is the only thing that matches the room.]
Wonderland, have you ever felt an absence? As if one day your heart is whole, the next, something important in your life, something you always thought would be there, is gone?
[He means both literal and figurative in his case, but he knows he's in the minority on that front. He turns to look out the window, facing away from the camera.]
It's like a piece of you is missing. Like you'll never be quite full ever again.
[He pauses. He doesn't want to speak this into reality, even as the reality bores in on him as bright and biting as the walls around him.]
I'm sure that those of you that knew her will understand my feelings when I say that... Alphys is gone.
[His voice crackles with static.]
And I don't think she is coming back.
((ooc: Mettaton will mostly be staying in what was Alphys's old room on the second floor next to his if you're looking for an action thread for the rest of the day.))

[action]
[It's instantaneous as far as he can tell. One second everything is fine, and the next second, his soul is in thirds.]
[Maybe there's something to be said for how--concrete it all is. There's no time for denial or any of the other carefully partitioned stages of loss, or whatever. It's just instant acceptance. Like noticing that the sun has set, or that it's raining. It's fact.]
[She's gone.]
[He only lets himself wonder if it's only temporary for a few minutes. For awhile after that, the only thought that circles around his head is that he expected it to hurt more. Emotionally, it's excruciating, exhausting--it feels exactly the same as it did when Papyrus left both times before, as the times Papyrus died.]
[Physically, it just feels like--absence. Like he's suddenly missing a limb. A whole third of who he is, gone. Like a hole. Which is nothing new.]
[There's always been a hole.]
[He sits in a daze for a few minutes before he gets up to go find Mettaton. He knows where he is. It's exactly where Sans would expect him to be--exactly where Sans wants to be right now.]
[He doesn't knock. He leans heavily against the doorframe, certain he's going to pass out soon. The stark emptiness of her room feels utterly, utterly wrong. There should be junk on the floor, anime posters and figurines. Small robots rolling around. Mew Mew is here, thankfully, looking confused and as lost as Sans feels. She approaches him with a questioning mewl and he stoops to pick her up. He almost doesn't manage to stand back up.]
had to see it for myself.
[Nail it home. Don't leave any room for false hope.]
[Hope is deadly.]
[action]
When Sans arrives he doesn't bother trying to pull himself together beyond at least being able to speak. His voice is shaky as he replies.]
I know. I did, too. I knew I had to say. Say something, and...
[He's grateful he at least got to collapse here, away from unkind eyes, and not on the network like the last time.]
Oh, Sans.
[He looks to him, tears in his eyes, and knows that Sans's emptiness is just as painful and raw as his own despair. It's horrible. This is horrible.]

[Asriel doesn't have any of the fondness for Alphys that the other monsters here have, but he'd be lying if he said he didn't know how Mettaton felt.]
I'm sorry... that she's gone...
Thank you, Asriel. This is... I know you know how tough this is.
[He shakes his head.]
I wish there had been more time.

Her work was incredible. [That's not the right thing to say at all, though.] She is incredible. And if she's gone home, then she's right where she ought to be, yeah?
Her work was incredible. I will always be proud to be one of her creations.
[He smiles just a bit.]
And she is incredible. I suppose home is right where she ought to be, yes... at least I can say that she went home to a happy ending.
[How long will it stay that way though? What if Frisk...
No. Have faith in them. They never reset for him. They won't reset on her.]
I just can't help but be selfish and wish she were still here with me.

[And all too recently. Just when he feels like he might be moving past it, it hits him all over again.
He still hasn't moved out of the rooms that Evelyn left, and the longer he stays there, surrounded by everything that made the place so very hers, the more he finds he doesn't want to.]
So... sorry t' hear it.
video;
He smiles in sympathy.]
I'm sorry for your loss as well. I think it's been a difficult month or series of months for a lot of people.
[Toriel, Chara, now Alphys... countless others leaving. Evie, of all people, after 6 or so years...it's a lot.]

But she can't simply leave this here. Let him wallow in agony alone.
... But... why is he so sure she won't be coming back? Anyone can come back here, that's Wonderland's amazing magic. It can even bring the dead here. So why would it be different for Alhpys? Is it just the grief talking?]
... Alhpys... was always very nice to me. She wanted... to include me in things... and spread happiness, and help people.
Video
She wanted to be a magical girl more than anything. And being a magical girl meant spreading happiness and hope and...
[He trails off, his face twisting with pain for a moment.]
Being just like she is. Wonderful. I'm going to miss her so much.

...you have my condolences, Mettaton. I...I am unsure on what to say. She was a great person and I'm glad to have known her during my time here. If you need to talk, then I am here. I can empathize with the feeling of losing your creator.
Video
I... thank you, Turing.
[It's odd. Because on one hand, they're right. Losing your creator is difficult. But on the other... he's not quite like they are.]
I'm glad you knew her too. She truly was wonderful. We were all enriched to have her here.
Video
WAIT...WAIT. THERE MUST BE SOME KIND OF MISTAKE!! ALPHYS DIDN'T ACTUALLY LEAVE, RIGHT?? SHE'S PROBABLY JUST...JUST...
[Who was he kidding. She really is gone. In a way, he should be happy that she's back home, but in his timeline, Alphys is dead.
He lets out a shaky sigh, tears already starting to prick his eyes at realizing the situation.]
SHE REALLY CAN'T BE GONE...
Video
I don't want to believe it either but. I know she's gone. I can feel it.
[He doesn't elaborate on it, but his soul feels just a bit emptier with her gone.]
I wish I had better news to share.

[ Snow's never met a person (or robot) she didn't want to try and be friends with, so she offers, quietly. ]
Would you like someone to sit with you?
video;
Though, to be completely fair, Mettaton is a tad bit of a romantic. Still, all the same, Snow is beautiful and Mettaton is a hopeless bisexual.]
Thank you. I'm sorry to hear you've lost someone as well.
[He has no idea if she's lost someone here or back home, but either way, grief is a sharp cut to anyone's soul.
He doesn't quite know what to say to the offering. After all, this is the first time they've ever spoken and Mettaton looks more of a mess in real life than he currently does on camera. But at the same time, the idea of being alone and continuing to be alone is excruciating. He bites at his lips, thinks, and then decides.]
I think that would be nice, if it's not too much trouble for you.

[ People come and go... in Wonderland and back home. That doesn't make it any easier, though. ]
Are you alone? Do you need company?
video;
I'm sorry that you do. Know the feeling, I mean. I don't think I have been terribly long here myself- though certainly been here longer than I have wanted to be- but it never seems to get easier, does it?
[He says it both as a statement and perhaps a light question. He'd like to think that it might get easier. Though he'd like to think he won't lose anyone else.]
I... I am alone, yes.
[More alone than he's felt in a long time, it seems. He sighs a bit and nods.]
Company is probably better than sitting here and well. Moping.
[Moping is an understatement, but he's trying to keep some dignity here.]

I'm sorry, buddy. If you want, I can grab some monster brew for you and we can go throw rocks off the roof. Or anything else you want. Or not. Whatever you need. 'Cause I get that feeling. I really do.
video;
Throwing rocks off the roof, hm? Is that what you do when you're sad?
[He gives another weak smile.]
That being said, I think I would like that a lot.

One of the only smart people here? Hmm, I'd certainly say so.

I'm going to miss her a lot, Greg. I got used to her being here with me.
