[When the video clicks on, at first only Mettaton is visible. After a few quick seconds, however, it becomes obvious that he is standing in an empty room. There is nothing remarkable about it in any way, shape, or form. It has four walls, all stark white, and one wall with a window and one wall with a door. All in all, with how utterly unremarkable it is, Mettaton looks almost comically out of place.

The look of empty sadness on his face is the only thing that matches the room.]

Wonderland, have you ever felt an absence? As if one day your heart is whole, the next, something important in your life, something you always thought would be there, is gone?

[He means both literal and figurative in his case, but he knows he's in the minority on that front. He turns to look out the window, facing away from the camera.]

It's like a piece of you is missing. Like you'll never be quite full ever again.

[He pauses. He doesn't want to speak this into reality, even as the reality bores in on him as bright and biting as the walls around him.]

I'm sure that those of you that knew her will understand my feelings when I say that... Alphys is gone.

[His voice crackles with static.]

And I don't think she is coming back.

[Asriel turns off his phone, hesistant about going. Mettaton needs someone there but should it really be him? He and Alphys never really knew each other that well.

No. He’s... he’s gotta try and help. He can’t keep distancing himself from the other monsters here. That’s... probably what Chara would want him to do, right? Instead of just running away all the time. I’m He starts making his way to Alphys room, and once he finds it, he knocks gently.]

Mettaton, are you still there? I’m here.

[When he knocks Mettaton takes a second to respond. It's difficult to make himself speak, to not stay silent and let Asriel move on so he can continue to weep in peace. But he knows that won't help him in the end, really.]

Yes, I'm in here. Come in.

[He stays sitting on the floor, facing the window silently as he waits for Asriel to enter.]

[Asriel enters quietly, noting the emptiness of the room. It's... really jarring - he expected anime posters, DVD cases, empty noodle cups - but there's none of that here. Just a coldness of someone who used to be here and isn't anymore.

Asriel still remembers spending such a long time looking for Chara's things.

But this isn't about Chara right now.

He isn't sure what to say, because nothing he says can really make the heartbreak of losing someone any easier. He sits down next to Mettaton. Doesn't reach out to physically comfort him, because he's not sure if that's what he wants from someone like him.

His expression softens. God, he really does know how this feels.]

[Asriel hesitates as he comes into the room and honestly, Mettaton doesn't blame him. The room is completely empty, he looks like a wreck with makeup smudged everywhere, and the general atmosphere feels like that of a funeral.

But his company is still appreciated. Mettaton manages a small smile as he turns to look at him.]

[While he hasn't really seen Mettaton in this kind of state, it's painfully familiar anyway. Asriel's never been the type to comfort - he was always the one doing the crying. And when he wasn't, well... it's not like he was capable of sympathy for a really long time.]
