💔💔💔💔💔 Video 💔💔💔💔💔
[When the video clicks on, at first only Mettaton is visible. After a few quick seconds, however, it becomes obvious that he is standing in an empty room. There is nothing remarkable about it in any way, shape, or form. It has four walls, all stark white, and one wall with a window and one wall with a door. All in all, with how utterly unremarkable it is, Mettaton looks almost comically out of place.
The look of empty sadness on his face is the only thing that matches the room.]
Wonderland, have you ever felt an absence? As if one day your heart is whole, the next, something important in your life, something you always thought would be there, is gone?
[He means both literal and figurative in his case, but he knows he's in the minority on that front. He turns to look out the window, facing away from the camera.]
It's like a piece of you is missing. Like you'll never be quite full ever again.
[He pauses. He doesn't want to speak this into reality, even as the reality bores in on him as bright and biting as the walls around him.]
I'm sure that those of you that knew her will understand my feelings when I say that... Alphys is gone.
[His voice crackles with static.]
And I don't think she is coming back.
((ooc: Mettaton will mostly be staying in what was Alphys's old room on the second floor next to his if you're looking for an action thread for the rest of the day.))

I promise I won't leave you behind either. I promise I'll do everything I can to make sure if I go, you come with me too.
[He's not good at promises either. Sans doesn't know that. But maybe one day...]
How could she just be gone? I don't understand it. She was just here, I felt her in my soul, you felt her in your soul, she can't just...
[He trembles.]
There's just so much more I should have said. Should have told her while she was here.
[He leans forward and presses his forehead against Sans. The pain in his soul dulls just a little bit.]
I'm so glad you're still here. I know that's selfish of me but I'm so glad.
[action]
[But some of the tension dissipates. The desire and the will to remain here is something, even if they won't matter in the end.]
it was sudden.
[Sudden as a bone breaking. A soul cracking. Sans grits his teeth a little. It still doesn't physically hurt that much, but it's so, so draining. Like his energy is just pouring out into an abyss. It's all he can do not to just sink against Mettaton.]
there's always...always stuff you don't get to say. always too late.
[Mettaton presses his forehead to Sans's and Sans inhales softly. A little warmth spills into that empty space, like a star shining out into the void. Sans grips one of Mettaton's hand as tight as he can, which isn't very tight at all.]
[He's so bad at holding onto things.]
'm glad you're here too.
[He's sinking, no matter how hard he tries to fight it. So pathetic. Him and his useless, shriveled little soul. Can't stay upright even when Mettaton needs him.]
hh...hate that i'm this weak. need to be here for you. i can't...metta...
[Stay awake, you worthless sack of bones. Stay awake, it's not that bad. Stop being so pathetic. Stay awake for him.]
i'm here, i'm here. can do this.
[action]
It's ok, darling. We can be weak together.
[He gently reaches for Sans as well, his hands on top of Sans's and takes them off, pulling the skeleton to his chest.]
It's ok. You're not failing me. We can just cry here. You and me.
[action]
no, i. i gotta stay awake.
[He can't, he can't just fall like this and leave Mettaton all alone. Mettaton says they can be weak together, but Sans's weak is so much weaker than Mettaton's. It's like knocking down a support pillar in an already shaky building.]
[If she was here...if it was Sans who left and Mettaton and Alphys who were left behind, they'd be alright. They'd cry and hurt but they'd be alright. They wouldn't be on the verge of passing out just because it feels like a piece of their soul is missing.]
i'm not good enough. 'm not enough.
[He's not enough. And now he's crying too, god, as if he has the magic or the energy to spare for it. It's like his soul just wants to purge itself.]
i'm sorry. just...so...
[He sinks against Mettaton, his strength failing. He lets out an exhausted sigh.]
you 'n me.
[action]
He sniffles a bit, holds Sans to his chest for another moment, and then kisses the top of his head.]
Why don't we... go someplace else for now? Some place with a soft bed. Then we can both dramatically cry into a pillow in relative luxury.
[He's no where near done sobbing for the next few hours, but if Sans is at least near him while he does, he won't feel so alone.]
[action]
i can't...i'm...
[He can't hold it, he knows. Can't do anything right. Can't be here for Mettaton when he needs him. He's going to pass out and leave Mettaton all alone.]
yeah...bed. 'm sorry i...can't...soul can't take it. n-need rest.
[If he passes out, what is Mettaton going to think? What if Mettaton thinks Sans is leaving him too?]
jus' sleep. jus fer a bit. 'll be back. promised. 's jus' sleep...
[He manages a barely audible little i'm sorry before going limp in Mettaton's arms, unconscious.]
[action]
He stands up, cradling Sans in his arms, and looks around the room. He doubts this will be the last time he visits; until this room is occupied once more, he'll probably come here to mourn her whenever he can. He makes his way out of the room, maneuvering Sans in his arms to open his bedroom door. Mini comes beeping up to him, questioning, but he waves them off and places Sans into his bed. He's sure if Sans were awake right now he'd comment on how utterly soft the entire king bed is. It has no reason to be soft, and yet that's how Mettaton has it. He tries to gently pull Sans's hoodie off his body, but it ends up turning into a rather awkward back and forth as he tries to get the fabric over Sans's head. It really speaks to how tired Sans is that he doesn't wake up to Mettaton yanking his hoodie off. Luckily he's not completely naked when he takes it off and Mettaton pulls the covers up and around him, cushioning him into softness.
The robot climbs in after getting Sans settled in, and immediately Mini climbs up into it to be close. Mettaton smiles, pulling them to him even as he feels himself tearing up, and snuggles into Sans's sleeping form.]
Good night, Sans. See you in the morning.
