[Souji's sitting in the grass somewhere on the grounds. A fat gray dragon about the size of a schnauzer with very useless little wings is wandering around behind him. He's looking back at her before turning to the camera with a pensive expression.]

If this war turns out to be an actual war, what should we do about our pets?

[He figures they'll just have to be kept out of the way, but it worries him. He's had that dragon for over five years now, and she was a gift from someone important. He's sure everyone else with a pet feels the same way.]

Should we...I don't know, designate someone to look after them?

[Oh shit, Magnus hadn't really thought about that when he suddenly became the dog dad to seven dogs a few days ago.]

Uh, maybe we should make like a giant pet kennel to keep them all in if shit goes down? Maybe we can arrange to do shifts or make it a part of the Wonderland Guard or something.

[It's probably not on the same importance level than trying to make sure other people don't die, but he'd hate for something bad to happen to any dogs (or any other animals...~~but mostly dogs~~).]

They'd probably be safe in the caves.

[A beat.]

But I don't know if the first thing to do in a fight would be to grab your pets and run.

You're right...at least with the events we usually get a heads up. I doubt we'll get any heads up with this war stuff.

[Wonderland probably wouldn't be nice enough to send them an invitation with an exact date for this dumb war to start.]

Probably not anything significant, anyway. Then again, we're not even sure what the Queen of Hearts meant by "war" in the first place.

In my experience there's not a whole lot of variation on "war", but he this place has surprised me before. Maybe it'll surprise me again.

[Though he doubts it.]

True. Man, it sucks having to try to prepare against a place that can literally make anything happen.

Anyone else come up with a brilliant idea so we're not running around during a war tripping on pets?

A couple people have had ideas. The most likely scenario though is that we get people who can't fight to watch them.

Maybe I'll see if I can teach some of my dogs how to guard stuff. I gotta teach them everything else anyway, might as well add one more thing to the list.

Plus, it might be a little more helpful if they know how to protect others before they learn how to do cool tricks.

That sounds like a good idea. I've tried training the dragon but...

[He glances back at her.]

I'm not sure if she's too smart or too dumb to be trained.

[She exhibits signs of being either at times.]

I'll see what I can do. Maybe if it goes well with my guys, I can teach some other dogs.

[He can open up a school for dogs or something.]

Can she breath fire? I have a dragon born friend back home that can do that. Even if it's a tiny flame it might be a good defense.

[He shakes his head.]

At least, I've never seen her do it.

Man, I wish I knew how Carey did that, but I just have my normal boring human breath. So I can't be much help with that.

You try feeding her spicy food and seeing what happens?

[Because that's clearly a good idea.]

I haven't tried that. But I think it might just make her sick.

[Sick dragons are probably not any fun.]

If she could breathe fire, she might get into a lot of trouble.

Yeah, that could happen. And a sick dragon probably isn't ideal.

[He doesn't have a ton of experience with dragons, but a sick one doesn't sound like a ton of fun to deal with.]

But hey, at least most people will try not to get set on fire, so she'd probably be safe from anyone dangerous getting too close.

That's a good point. I hadn't considered that.

[But she'd be just as dangerous to him as to anyone else...]

I think for now, it's best if we try to train animals we know can be trained. Like dogs.

Fair enough. Maybe we'll look into it more after this whole war this is over.

[And if they don't all die permanently along the way.]

At least I've already started looking into training my dogs. Hopefully teaching them some protection stuff won't be too hard cause that's what my fighting specialty is.

Do you do a lot of fighting at home?
