[ For a moment all that's heard is some grunting and probably a few obscene curses. He's still trying to figure the phone out, but that's because he's not familiar with it. Technology isn't Benny's strong suit in the slightest. He had a flip phone when him and Dean were talking, but he ditched that a long time ago. Getting anything fancier never really appealed to Benny. No need. This thing wasn't what he wanted to be shackled to at all.
Suddenly a fuzzy beard appears in frame and it's clearly speckled with spots of gray. There are a few more grunts as Benny finally arrives at the conclusion that this isn't just your run of the mill phone. Then again the only phones he's familiar with are the flip ones. This one's in a whole different league and dammit if it's not pissing him off.
He clears his throat quickly and finally becomes a little more visible on the screen. When he found this damn thing in his pocket he didn't know what to expect, but maybe he could get a hold of someone who could help him out. ] I don't think this damned thing is even workin', but if anyone's out there I could sure use a nudge in the right direction. A state would greatly appreciated. This house don't look too comfortin' and I'm itchin' to get the hell outta dodge.

...the "big man upstairs." Evelyn is certain she's heard that one before, probably from her husband. Gods. Different in every dimension, she supposes.]
Harmless to me.
[Clarification takes a moment, maybe just a split-second to sink in before she asks,]
What is that supposed to mean, what-
[she catches herself before rudely demanding what are you? Even after everything she's seen, it's still difficult not to assume that each new resident is human.]
...I do beg your pardon, I'm being very uncouth. We haven't even been introduced and I'm practically interrogating you.

This isn't good. It seems he's sort of sent her off into some sorta tizzy or something. She's all kinds of concerned about just what exactly Benny is and why he got sent down there. She doesn't exactly vocalize it, but the choppy sentences before she apologizes are kind of a good indicator of this.
He takes a breath and smiles when she's done. She has nothing to really be sorry for. Her greeting isn't as bad as a lot of other folks he's encountered in the real world. ] That ain't interrogating. I know interrogating. You're just worried. I'll fix it--I'm Benny. [ She can interrogate all she wants. Honestly he'd take her version of interrogating over most folks any day of the week. ] You wanna ask me that question now?

Smiling in relief at his reassurances, Evelyn takes heart knowing that she isn't being entirely rude.]
I'm Evelyn.
[There, simple enough.]
But I don't...I don't want to assume anything, by any means, we have all types here and everybody is astonishingly liberal, it's just...why did you say that you would be harmless to me?
[A bold claim in Wonderland. Her last boyfriend couldn't even keep a promise like that during the darker days.
...but that was a long time ago.]

Benny just nods at her name and smiles. It's nice enough and he's really got nothing against all the questions though. He expects them honestly. He's just happy she doesn't have a weapon though. The fact that she's not actively trying to detach his head from his body makes her ten times better than half the people he's encountered recently. Plus she may not be the type to take potshots at him being a vampire like most folks.
Her and most humans. Benny's hoping he can keep everything in check knowing that Dean is here as well. Having Dean around will give him something to hold himself accountable to. Without Elizabeth though he's not sure. Hopefully Dean'll be enough to get Benny to walk that line. He's done it before. ] You ain't swingin' a blade at me so--that makes you my new bestfriend. I mean unless this is you tryin' to kill me. I won't harm a hair on your head.

[Evelyn sniffs, feeling affronted by the very suggestion. The way she acts, you'd think casual murder was a ridiculous subject. And it is. Because she said so.
So there.]
Let alone gentlemen I just met. Has anyone told you how things work here?
no subject
[ Casual murder ain't that ridiculous when you're from Benny's world. Sometimes it's what has to be done and sometimes you don't know no better. When he was living and working alongside the Old Man Benny didn't know any other way to live. It was meeting Andrea that taught him to love and appreciate humanity after being separated from it for so long.
Benny's learning lots of things about this place, but he's not gonna pass up a little tutorial from anyone. He'd rather be over-prepared than under when it comes to this place. ] Any bit of info you wanna offer would be real nice.

It used to be different, but that's a conversation for another day and isn't tempered by a near-decade of marital bliss.
Pointedly, Evelyn doesn't address the subject of homicide.]
How much have you been told thus far?
no subject
Benny's got to stop and think for a moment when she asks what exactly he knows. A little bit of this and a little bit of that, but having multiple sources never hurt a damn thing. ] Off with your head, Wonderland, mirrors and somethin' about dyin' five times. That ain't good considering I got two deaths already under my belt. I'm hopin' they don't transfer.
