[ figuring out how to use the device isn't the hard part, no, it's swallowing the fact that either purgatory changed on him in what could only be described as seriously trippy as shit way, or he's in yet another new dimension. so have dean, wonderland, covered in dirt and grime from head to toe. it doesn't take squinting to notice the obvious splashes of blood either, though all of it's dried as if he hasn't changed his clothes in a while...

in his hand is a massive weapon; axe-like in shape, with a blade made of something unrecognizable but decidedly dangerous. ]

Alright, listen up. This is how it's gonna go; whoever thought this-- [ he gestures vaguely around with the tip of his weapon. ] -- was a great idea? Hand up now. You and I are gonna have a couple words, and how pretty they end up bein' depends entirely on you. [ a threat is laced in every single word. ]

Or I can always just start demandin' answers-- [ you know the violent way. purgatory kinda rubs off on you after a while. ] -- 'cause you know what? I don't have time for this. Not today. [ not when one minute benny had been going on about something or another and now the vampire isn't anywhere to be seen and his search for cas is interrupted.

which leads him to adding, after a pause; ]

Cas, if you're here for some messed up reason, lem'me know. Same for you, Benny.

[ blake falls silent and dean just waits. he could call it all bullshit again, cut their conversation right here and that'd be it. he could ignore what's been said in favor of simply seeing things for himself eventually... but while he's not about to believe everything, he can't just brush this aside either.

You think? 'Cause I'm thinking they'd join me 'cause of other-me-- or whoever you all think I am. So what, was he a real friend of the people? [ there are some faces among those he knows from home, along with blake's, that spell out something of a past. what kind is beyond him, and right now dean's not look for too many details.

[ Blake wants to correct him, because Dean's speaking about himself as if they were all entirely separate entities. But that can't really be true, can it? All alternate universes aside, there's only one Dean Winchester, with one shiny red reset button, courtesy of Wonderland. ]

Friend of the people? [ He tilts his head a bit. ] More like... responsible party.

[ And then, more critically: ] Would it matter why they'd join you? Or if they'd join you at all?

I'll be honest with you, man. I don't know you, or half the folk tellin' me we were tight before I apparently went and got my wires crossed. You or anyone of 'em decide to join me or not? I don't care. I'm doing this either way, solo or group act. Heck, preferably the one man deal, even.

[ dean knows the values of a good ally, but aside from benny, purgatory has done its job as far as chasing out any ideals about a group effort. especially when that group would consist of people he he's not about to try anytime soon. ]

And after all is said and done, I'm taking those I know with outta here, first and foremost.

[ John's not making accusations, and he's not trying to increase that obvious paranoia, but he is trying to make a few of his points clear without attempting to influence Winchester's enthusiasm or stance. ]

You do what you gotta do, Dean. No one's stoppin' you. But you're a smart guy, so I know you're gonna consider some of what's bein' said. Just know that's gonna be important tomorrow.

[ What can he say more than that? There's probably a list somewhere, but there's a lot more to consider here than a possible timetable for the return of Dean's memories (like neglecting to admit it's never happened like that before is telling enough). ]
