Um...excuse me?

[Tohru has been debating this post for a very, very, very long time. She felt very strange when she woke up on Friday, but it wasn't until she saw all of the flocks and herds of animals that something really felt off. Given how crowded Wonderland is, it wasn't long before people were bumping into each other and Tohru was having heart palpitations. It's her event.

It's the...the curse! The Something Curse! She can't think of the name and it's not coming no matter how hard she tries, but it's the Sohma family's curse! And she swore she would never, ever tell anyone their secret! But...

...But there are a lot of people unaffected by the event and worried about their friends and loved ones, who are suddenly animals sometimes. It doesn't feel right to withhold that information, and she's still not really sure what she's going to say, but...she feels like something needs to be said. Like she needs to claim responsibility for the event somehow, as though she made it happen on purpose or did something that forced it to happen.]

H-Hello. Ah...my name is Tohru Honda and I, um, well...

I think...I think that maybe this event. It might...I-I think it's from my world. I'm really sorry, everyone!

[She turns off the camera very quickly after that. People can reply to the video OR she's also available for action in the diner.]

[Steve has seen this girl, though he hasn't spoken to her directly. She works at the diner, and he's spotted her a few times when he's stopped by for a meal.

He takes note of the name. Japanese, and the fact that everything here is translated is something he's still baffled by, but it does make things easier.

This event is from her world, though. It had to be from someone's, of course, but Steve hadn't expected anyone to take credit for it like this. He's interested in some kind of explanation -- not because he blames her, but because a lot of his friends are being influenced by this and he'd like to be able to explain it to them when this is all over.

Because it has to wear off. It has to.]

Hello, Tohru. My name's Steve Rogers. It looks like only some of us are actually being affected by this event, but I wouldn't mind hearing a little bit more about how it all works. Gotta say, I've been through a few of these events now, but this has to be the strangest.

[Yes, even stranger than the singing. He gives her an apologetic smile.] No offense meant.

It's very nice to meet you, Mr. Rogers. Oh! Um, there's no offense taken, I promise! I know this is all very strange...

[Strange is an understatement, to be honest. Tohru is well aware of that, but there isn't very much she can do to make it less strange. She's grown used to being around the Sohmas, but she remembers how startling it was when she first discovered their secret.

And she remembers that promise vividly. She looks very uncomfortable.]

I...I can't say who they are, because I gave my word that I would never, ever tell their secret...but it's, um. It's a curse. An ancient family curse, that goes back many, many generations.

Okay, it's time to find out what the hey's going on, both here and at home. She heads right for the diner, very worried.]

[Tohru's been trying her very best to run the diner as normally as possible. She knows from living with the Sohmas that she needs to be very careful and aware, but she also doesn't know who's cursed and who isn't, so she's taking extra care not to bump into anyone today.

She sees Hana right away when she comes in, and alerts whoever is working in the diner with her that day (whether it's Mr. Ned or Souji) that she needs to take a short break, and she'll be back later. Then she rushes right over to her friend.]

Hana! It's so good to see you! But, um, let's go for a walk, okay? It'll be a little more private, I think.

[She hates to make Hana worry that way, but it's not something she can talk about in a crowded diner.]

[Greed really hates the events that screw around with people's memories. Really, REALLY hates them. And even though of course it's not Tohru's fault, that doesn't mean he's going to hide his displeasure when he answers the post.]

Which part? The shapechanging or the suddenly deciding they're all one big weird-ass family?

[He kind of hates the "family" thing most of all.]

[Greed's really obvious anger doesn't make this any easier for Tohru, and at first she's not sure what to say.]

[While he's heard that these events are pulled from other worlds, this is the first time he's seen someone come forward to address it. So naturally Eames is going to try to find out all he can about this one.]

It's a pleasure to meet you, Tohru Honda. I'm Eames.

What can you tell us about this event? Is is rather dangerous?

Ah, hello Mr. Eames. It's very nice to meet you.

[And even though all of this has her nervous, she still bows at the camera - it's only polite.]

I'm afraid I can't tell you very much, but um, I don't believe it will become a dangerous event. It's a family curse that belongs to a family I know well at home, but I promised them that I would never tell anyone about their curse. But...I felt like it was important to say something, so that everyone who doesn't think they're cursed will know that their friends and loved ones will be okay.

[It was a very difficult position to be in, and Tohru feels a little like she's betraying the Sohmas, though she's been very careful not to mention any of them by name.]

[Tohru's nervousness in her announcement makes Al fairly worried, wondering if there's something more to the event that hasn't become apparent yet.]

It's from your world? There's a family like this where you're from?

Um, well...yes. That's correct. I can't say who they are, because I made a very serious promise not to tell anyone their secret, but...it's true. This event, it's based on their family's curse.

[It's easy to tell where her nervousness truly comes from with that answer - she feels like she's breaking that important promise.]

You've seen this happen before?

[Angel is quick to respond -- he's gotten much better at juggling the various functions of the communicator over the last several months, though there's still room for improvement with his texting.

Though nobody close to him has been acting differently -- and to be honest, maybe that was just because he wasn't particularly close to anyone but Cordelia and now Tohru -- he was still incredibly aware of what was going on.

It was eyebrow-raising, that much was certain.]

The memory-loss seems pretty widespread. If there's another part of this event that we can safeguard against before the other shoe drops, it would be good to know sooner rather than later.

[Tohru hadn't realized that might be something people would be concerned about, so she looks surprised when Angel mentions it. As soon as it's mentioned though, she realizes why that might be a concern.

O-Oh! Um. I don't think there will be anything else to it. I can't say that with one hundred percent certainty, but...I can't think of anything else about it that would be added at this point. I'm really sorry if I worried you though.

[She hadn't meant to. She was nervous certainly, but this message was supposed to be so that she could put people's minds at ease about the nature of this event. So far, she isn't doing a very good job, it seems.]

But...yes, something very much like this has happened in my world before.

[ Hannibal knew there was an event going on, he could tell that something was wrong, but being effected by it meant that what seemed entirely out of the ordinary was not his condition, but the amount of people bumping into him. It was like someone had decided to make everyone around him and his family more clumsy and blind than normal. ]

That does not speak well for you, if everyone is this clumsy and unable to respect personal space where you're from.

[Tohru actually looks really confused for a minute. He thinks it's about people being clumsy? It seems like a strange thing to point out first, even before everyone turning into animals. She wonders then if that means he also thinks he's been cursed?

Keeping that in mind, she decides going with his assumption might be for the best. She laughs entirely by accident, a little nervously.]

A-Ah, um. That's right! A lot of people are very clumsy where I'm from! They don't mean to be, I'm sure, but uh...u-um collisions! Collisions happen a lot at home, between people, a-and that seems to be what's happening here! Yep!

[She's trying very hard, but Tohru has never been a very good liar. She's never liked lying, and only does so if she feels she absolutely has to, but everything from her face to her mannerisms betrays her. She bows deeply to the camera though (and thus to Hannibal), insistent on remaining respectful.]

On behalf of everyone from my world, I'm very sorry for any inconvenience or distress it might have caused. I hope that it will end very soon.

[That's rather interesting she had no idea this was something that happened...well, anywhere, really.]

Is it always like this? Your world? Not here, obviously.

[She hasn't been here long, but unless the last couple weeks were a fluke, she's pretty sure this isn't the norm.]

Ah, well...for some people it's always this way. I can't speak very much about it because I promised I wouldn't, but it's a curse in the family of some people I'm very close to. So, it isn't always this way for everyone, but for a few people it's how things are very day

[Tohru herself isn't cursed, but apparently her memories of the Sohmas were strong enough to prompt an event, and Tohru feels horrible for it. Their secret shouldn't have to be in danger just because she's here and because she remembers them fondly, but that is absolutely what's happening.

She pauses though, concerned for this stranger.]

Excuse me, um...are you feeling okay, madam? If you're feeling ill, there's a clinic on the first floor that would be more than happy to help you.

[She's green! She must be really terribly sick, right?]

[Even through text, he sounds sort of angry, and Tohru doesn't blame him really - there are animals all over the place, and things have been very difficult for the last day or so because of it. Even the diner has been full of ferrets, and Mr. Ned has been acting oddly...]

I think it may be from my world. I can't say very much about it because of a promise I made but...it's a curse. Some people have been cursed with the spirits of different animals, and I think it's what's making the other animals come out.

[There's a brief pause, and then:]

I am so, so sorry. I didn't want any of this to happen!

[There's no judgment in his face despite his perpetually gruff tone- 'cause it ain't like people can choose where they come from- but there is mild curiosity. Tohru's always seemed startlingly normal compared to the rest of the people here, and Daryl's genuinely surprised at the fact that her memories have spawned something so bizarre.

U-Um, well...I can't say who they are, because I made a really important promise, but. At home...some of my friends at home are cursed. They're part of a very large family, and each one of them is cursed with the spirit of a different animal. If they hug or bump into somebody of the opposite sex they turn into that animal for a few minutes. Sometimes it happens if they're not feeling well too, like if they have a fever or if they get too warm. It doesn't usually last very long, but it makes some things really difficult for them.

[It all sounds so silly now that she's saying it out loud, but all of it's true. Tohru has no reason to lie about it now, but she bows her head a bit, realizing exactly how odd it sounds.]

I-I, um. I know it sounds very unusual, but it's all true. I think that's what's happening right now. I think...I think Wonderland's given some of the people here this curse.

[ Carlos looks up from his notes and his plate of hastily ordered food when he notices that the video he’s just received has come from within the same space he’s currently inhabiting - the diner, to be precise. It’s less stuffy than the library at least, and it’s harder to forget to eat something for extended periods of time. It doesn’t take long to pinpoint the flustered girl, and he hurriedly gathers up his papers into a spiral-bound notebook before making his way over. ]

Tohru Honda, was it? [ He extends a hand, and what he hopes is a reassuring smile. ] My name is Carlos. Would you mind if I asked you a few questions?

[Tohru is a little surprised when he comes over - she hadn't realized anyone was listening to her make her broadcast, but she smiles and greets him graciously. It takes her a second to realize he put his hand out for a handshake, but when it sinks in she takes his hand and shakes it enthusiastically and hopes that that's how polite Americans do it.]

It's very nice to meet you, Mr. Carlos! And I wouldn't mind at all. I'll do my best to answer anything I can for you.

[Mr. Carlos...Mr. Carlos. Why does that sound so familiar? Hm...]

Oh! This is from your world? That's really interesting.

Ah, it is. Or at least I think so...i-it's a little too familiar for it not to be, I think.

[ How did anyone know? Unless something was really specific. Was this specific? People becoming animals.... yeah that was specific ]

It's, um. It's a little too much like something that's happened to friends of mine at home. Something that I promised them I wouldn't tell anyone about.

[Which she has now, but there wasn't much else she could do - should couldn't just let everyone worry about the people they care about when Tohru knew they would be okay, and knew how to minimize the distress for them.]
