Um...excuse me?
[Tohru has been debating this post for a very, very, very long time. She felt very strange when she woke up on Friday, but it wasn't until she saw all of the flocks and herds of animals that something really felt off. Given how crowded Wonderland is, it wasn't long before people were bumping into each other and Tohru was having heart palpitations. It's her event.
It's the...the curse! The Something Curse! She can't think of the name and it's not coming no matter how hard she tries, but it's the Sohma family's curse! And she swore she would never, ever tell anyone their secret! But...
...But there are a lot of people unaffected by the event and worried about their friends and loved ones, who are suddenly animals sometimes. It doesn't feel right to withhold that information, and she's still not really sure what she's going to say, but...she feels like something needs to be said. Like she needs to claim responsibility for the event somehow, as though she made it happen on purpose or did something that forced it to happen.]
H-Hello. Ah...my name is Tohru Honda and I, um, well...
I think...I think that maybe this event. It might...I-I think it's from my world. I'm really sorry, everyone!
[She turns off the camera very quickly after that. People can reply to the video OR she's also available for action in the diner.]

[video lol we've been labeling it action the whole time whoops]
It really was, especially when I first found out! I've gotten used to it now though, so it isn't quite so strange anymore.
[Tohru's lived with them so long that it doesn't feel terribly strange at all. They're all normal people who just have a problem that makes their lives a little more difficult. But there's nothing strange about the Sohmas, not really. Tohru accepts them all for exactly who they are, even with their curse.]
But mm, that seems like the case. In a few days, the event should be over, and everything should go back to normal - a-and everyone too.
Not that they really should be. This is Wonderland's fault, not theirs.]
I wonder how Wonderland decided who was gonna be affected... [That's a thought he mainly mutters to himself, before glancing at Tohru on his screen again.]
So how did you first find out about it, anyway?
[She's very careful when she relays it though, because she doesn't want to give their identities away.]
You see...I used to live with my grandfather, but he needed to have his home renovated so that some of our other relatives could move in and help take care of him as he grows older. He went to stay with them while the renovations were being done, and asked if I had friends I could stay with. I didn't want to trouble anyone though, so um...I bought some camping equipment and went to go live in the woods for a little while!
[It sounds a little crazy now that she's relaying the story to him, but she still stands by her decision, even now.]
But it turned out that the woods were actually a part of this family's property. Instead of turning me away or calling the police, they asked me to stay with them! It was really kind of them. But, they're all boys, so with their curse, it wasn't very long before I accidentally bumped into them and discovered their curse. It was an accident, but I promised that I would always keep their secret no matter what. It...doesn't feel quite right telling everyone about the curse, but it didn't feel right to let everyone worry about their friends either.
It seems like everything turned out all right, if this family had welcomed Tohru in and even put up with her learning about their secret.]
I think so long as you keep their names out of it, then it's fine. None of them are here, and we'll all be going back to our own homes when this is all said and done, so...
[That makes it sound kind of depressing, actually. Steve needs to get back home, of course, but realizing that the people he's met here will be lost to him forever after that still bothers him.
Not that it would be the first time that he lost a lot of people all at once.]
I appreciate you clearing things up.
[Tohru had nearly forgotten. When everyone returns to their worlds, they won't remember that this happened at all, and the Sohma family's secret will be safe once more. But still, it has a bittersweet feeling to it...she doesn't really like the idea of forgetting everyone in Wonderland, and all of the amazing experiences she's had because of it.]
That's...good then. For their secret, I mean.
[Otherwise, she's not so sure. But she keeps a smile anyway.]
It's no problem at all! I'm just glad that I could do something to help a little bit this time.
Some might call it a kindness. If they don't remember, then they can't feel the loss that comes with it. But Steve would rather have that.]
Yeah. I'll have to do my best not to run into anyone.
[He realizes that came out a little awkward, and adds:] Not that I make a habit of that, usually...
No, I think I know what you mean. It's still good to be careful anyway, especially during this event!
[She really appreciates that kindness, and that willingness to go along with the event and be careful around anyone who's "cursed".]
Wonderland has made so many people think that they've always been cursed. I know that it won't matter in a few days, but...as long as they think that, I wouldn't want to cause them any anxiety or worry by exposing the secret they think that they've been carrying their whole lives.
The whole thing gets under his skin, though. How can Wonderland just rewrite someone's memories like it's nothing?
Bucky had been brainwashed back home, but that's something that had taken years of work and HYDRA's conditioning. Wonderland does it with the snap of a finger.]
Has this happened before? [His expression is a little more serious than he means it to be.] Where an event makes people think they've lived completely different lives?
It doesn't happen often, but...it's happened at least once before, while I've been here. But that time, it changed everyone and not just a few people. Wonderland turned into a big city and made us all think we were either Superheroes or Supervillains!
[She didn't like all of the fighting very much, but aside from that, the event was kind of fun in its own way. The idea of being a magical girl was a little silly, so once the event was over it felt like she had just been playing pretend with everyone in the mansion all weekend.]
That's the only time I've ever noticed anything like that though, and that happened last year...it doesn't seem to be something that happens often, but it seems cruel of Wonderland to play with our memories that way.
Superheroes or supervillains, huh? [Steve smiles wryly.] That wouldn't be too different from everyday life for me, at least. [Those terms are kind of old-fashioned, from what he can tell, but he's still heard people refer to Captain America as a superhero on the news.
He's not sure what to make of it, honestly, but he's given up on thinking he can control how people portray him.]
At least it only happens every once in a blue moon. Doesn't make it any less cruel, but... [It won't be a monthly thing, and that's a relief. Steve's not sure how much of this kind of thing he could take.]
Really? There are superheroes in your world? That's incredible, Mr. Rogers! I-I mean I know what they are, but in my world you would only see superheroes in stories or on television, so that's really amazing!
[Considering they had an event with superheroes, Tohru knows it must have been real for someone, but she doesn't know who that event belonged to, so she's never spoken to anyone about it.]
...mm. I think I know what you mean though. It's hard when we don't know exactly what's coming, but I'm grateful that not all of the events change our memories in such a drastic way.
Given that her name is pretty distinctly Japanese, she might not even know of him anyway. It's difficult to know if she's actually speaking English or being translated.]
Yeah, there are. I'm... kind of one of them. We were able to put a team together, so when a threat came to Earth, we were able to fight it off.
[It's probably not exactly what she's imagining, though.] Some of us got our abilities through scientific experiments, and some of us are just really well-trained. [Then there's the Norse god and the guy who can turn into a giant green rage monster.]
[There's genuine awe in her words. She's never heard of him specifically and he doesn't look familiar to her (though, in fairness, Tohru isn't the greatest well of pop culture knowledge), but she still knows what superheroes are, and just the idea of it is really noble and amazing to her.
Knowing this, she bows respectfully to the camera, and to him.]
I have know way of knowing if it's the same Earth that I'm from or if it's another world entirely, but...thank you very much for all your hard work and everything you've done!
[She might not have heard about it at home, but if he helped fight off a threat to Earth, he absolutely deserves her gratitude and respect for it!]
[video] back from hiatus, sorry for delay!
She doesn't even know him specifically, but she's still thanking him. That's the kind of thing that really amazes Steve, honestly. Sometimes he thinks his fans and supporters are the real heroes.]
Depends on what time you're from. In 2012, there was an attack on New York by an army of aliens called the Chitauri. I'm pretty sure you would have noticed that on the news.
[Even if she lives in Japan.]
[video] it's okay!
[Tohru, being very gullible, doesn't actually question it - she's just very startled by the thought of aliens attacking. She didn't even know that aliens were real a minute ago and now they're going to attack New York City?! That's the most terrible thing she's heard in Wonderland so far.]
Ah, but...that might be it. It was 1999 when I was last at home, so it's still a long time way for me. I haven't heard anything about aliens at all. B-But, um, I'm very grateful that you'll be able to save the day, when the time comes!
[While Steve's met a few people who are from the past, like him, it seems rarer for someone to be only a decade or so back from modern times. At least the changes wouldn't be quite as jarring to Tohru as it would to someone like himself or Evelyn.]
And you're very welcome. If this place ever gets attacked by aliens, you know who to call. [Steve smiles. It's mainly meant as a joke, but the fact is that here in Wonderland anything could happen.]
But Tohru is also very gullible and doesn't always pick up on jokes right away, so she replies with a little more seriousness and determination than she really needs for the moment.]
Right! I'll make absolutely sure to do that, Mr. Rogers!
Good. And thanks again for all the information about the event, I appreciate it. I'll see you around at the diner, I'm sure.
[Steve certainly goes there often enough...]
[After all, she's at the diner more often than not. She waves at the camera a little, as though they're saying goodbye in person.]
Take care, Mr. Rogers!
