[ Back at Hogwarts, Astronomy was one of Remus' best subjects. That's not to say it was one of his favorites, but out of necessity, he'd become quite adept at studying the night sky. That's why, after he'd taken the time to settle in, he'd asked his closet for a telescope and started hitting the roof after sundown. Most nights he could be found up there, studying the moon and stars. It was for this reason that he'd been able to calculate when the next full moon would be (rather sooner than he'd like, but there was no changing that), and also made a fascinating discovery.

One night, from the roof, he decides to share his findings with Wonderland at large. He pulls out his cell phone and records a video. ]

Has anyone noticed that the stars keep changing? I mean, night after night, the constellations are different. Sometimes they're not where they ought to be, and sometimes I see ones I've never seen before. I'd thought maybe I could try and learn where Wonderland is, geographically, but I'm more confused now than I was when I started.

[ He ends his broadcast, then, fiddling with the settings, sends out a message to his friends. ]

The full moon is the 8th. That's this Wednesday.

[ ooc: feel free to run into Remus either on the roof, if your character is so inclined, or in the stairwells with his telescope! ]

You're doing fine so far. [ Except for the part where you called him crazy, but he's already forgotten that. And besides, he was the same way when he started at Hogwarts. From when he was four until he was eleven, he was never allowed to have any friends. He knows what it's like to be isolated, to be unsure how to interact. ]

( hey she totally turned on the full moon in the car with her mom and little sister and while she doesn't remember much from that night she does remember that she told them she wished they were all dead, and that a product of her turning led to their deaths. whether she was the one who killed them, or her turning caused a wreck, it's really... not known. then she lived as a fully transformed coyote for years. once she turned back into a human, though, she couldn't go back to full coyote form. it's been rough. she gives him a tiny smile; it's a little bit sad... but it's genuine. ) That's because I haven't had a chance to screw up yet.

[ His smile is a little awkward, but it's there. ]

Don't worry. I'm forgiving, or so I'm told.

Well, that's good. So I guess that means you're on the list of people I should be friends with?

Well, I guess. If you'll have me?

( it's like a lightbulb goes off in her head and she lights up, a wide smile on her face. ) Y'know what? I think I will.

[ A small part of Remus says she doesn't know what you are yet, but he decides not to listen to it and smiles back. ]

Guess my astronomy's not so crazy now, is it?

It's still crazy but if I had a rule about no crazy friends, I wouldn't have friends. ( g r i n yes good let's banter it's a good thing to do. )

Hah, yeah, I suppose so.

So besides make star charts or whatever, what is there to do around here for fun, anyway?

[ Remus mutters something about not making star charts for fun, but then shakes his head to get rid of that idea. ]

I dunno. I haven't been here very long, but I suppose there's always exploring the mansion and the grounds. I've heard they have quite the library, and I think there's even a swimming pool.

( she thinks about addressing that muttering but then she doesn't care enough, oops? )

Last time I tried to explore the mansion I ran into a wild animal.

You did? What sort of animal? Did it speak?

[ Because so far he's seen (on his cell phone, at least) a cat and a raccoon who can both talk. ]

A wolf, and no. Mostly it just growled and tried to eat me. Really annoying. Ignored all of my warnings. I told it that it was lost and needed to go back outside.

[ Strange. The full moon isn't for a few more days. Which means it was an actual wolf. ]

Well, I'm glad it didn't eat you.

Oh, it couldn't have, anyway. I'm too fast. ( she would also say 'smart', but lately things have led her to believe she's the opposite of same. but she's streetwise. instinctual, almost entirely. )

You can outrun a wolf? [ That's good to know. You know, just in case. ]

Yeah, easy. ( a normal one anyway. she starts to say 'i lived in the woods for eight years' but then decides maybe it would be better not to blurt those things out the first time she's talking to someone. )

[ Yeah, probably not. Just like he probably shouldn't say "that's good, because sometimes I am a wolf." But in any event. ]

You must be good at sport, then.

( just one sport. british people. malia snorts. )

Wouldn't know. Never tried.

Really? Not even in school?

[ He doesn't know what sports are popular in America. Quidditch, maybe? But that doesn't involve running. ]

( she hasn't been in school since she was eight, and she's too busy desperately trying to pass math to have time for athletics anyway. ) Don't really have time for it.

Ah. I'm not much of one for sport, either. James is, and he's brilliant at it, but I was never very good.

I'd probably be pretty good at hunting but I'm not sure if that counts as a sport. I have perfect reflexes though.

It does if you're rich, I think. Don't rich people hunt foxes or something?
