[Yes, the Once-ler had that dream too. No, he's not talking about it. It was just a dream, just a stupid, dumb, terrifying dream with a monster and the moon going out like a broken lightbulb and obviously none of it was real. Or at least, he doesn't want any of it to be real.

So, he's stress-knitting.

He's taken up one of the tea rooms for the day so that he has a little more space to work (plus it gets him out of his room, and that's probably a good thing). He's already got a colorful pile of completed things tossed on one of the chairs - scarfs, mittens, absolutely no thneeds. The Once-ler himself is sitting on the floor in front of one of the armchairs with his knees up, using the chair as a backrest as he knits. His piglet Boris is keeping him company, and he can be seen running around in a dark green pig-sized sweater.]

So, uh. Since I'm knitting anyway and winter's coming up...does anyone want anything?

[And wow, he sure is knitting. Even while he talks, even while wearing his trademark green gloves, his needles move incredibly fast. He shrugs though, like offering to make people stuff for free isn't an enormous step forward for him.]

I mean, it's just something to do, and it's not like I have anything else to do with them.

[That's all he really wanted to say, because he's definitely not acknowledging that Jabberwocky dream. He leans forward a bit and uses the end of one of his knitting needles to jab at his network device until it shuts off. If anyone would rather meet up with him in person, he's in one of the tea rooms on the tenth floor with a small mountain of yarn.]

[It really is a shame - it was a pretty great dress, if he does say so himself. He laughs at the suggestion though.]

I can, if you really want one. It's not the holidays without ugly sweaters, right?

[Ironically ugly, of course. His knitwear is nothing but masterpieces, all the time.]

[ Lana seems to consider this, then, ] You think you could knit an ugly Chanukah sweater?

Sure! I don't see why not - want anything in particular on it?

[Whatever she wants, he's pretty confident he can figure it out. There's few things he's as good at as knitting.]

Um, I dunno, a dreidel or some shit? Or like, "Fuck you and your Jesus too," in bold lettering.

[He raises an eyebrow at the phrasing, and for a second he looks like he's going to refuse on principle. She's a kid (as is anyone under the age of 21) and it's kind of vulgar. But, then he changes his mind, and points his knitting needles at the camera.]

...Alright, but if a more responsible adult asks, I had nothing to do with it. Got it?

[It's probably just some left over need to do anything to make a sale, even if it means compromising his ideals...and even if he's not actually selling the sweaters, apparently.]

[ There's the Mr. L she knew and loved. Lana smiles conspiratorially. ]

Loud and clear. What do you want for it, since, uh, money's not exactly a thing here.

[It's a dangerous question, and one that makes him pause. There's a time when he would have taken whatever she was willing to pay for it, and to be honest that temptation is still there deep down. But, he shoves it aside, and waves a green-gloved hand.]

...You can just have it. I mean, it is the holidays.

Really?

[ Lana looks surprised and, is that touched? ]

Nobody's ever really... just given me anything before.

Really? Never?

[Even he's been given stuff now and then, and his family were a bunch of jerks. Obviously it's been a long while, but it's still happened before.]

Well. There's a first time for everything, right? Just take it when it's done. It's yours.

[ Lana's mom was a bank robber, and then she moved in with her grandma who pretty much resented Lana for it. ]

Looks like it'll be done in no time. You're really quick with those needles.

[It's something he's heard a zillion times before, but he still grins. He doesn't have a lot in his life that he can really feel flattered about anymore, so he holds onto this talent tightly.]

But yeah, definitely. It'll be done before the day's over, guaranteed.

[Which is pretty impressive, since it takes most people months to knit a sweater, but he had that first Thneed done in one night, and that was a far more complex design.]

[ He should feel flattered. Lana's never seen someone knit so fast or so well. (Granted, she's only ever seen her grandma knit before, but whatever). ]

Awesome. Let me know when it's done and I'll come by to get it.
