[ It’s not every day that the people of Wonderland get good news, and boy has Dean gotten some— at least according to his brother. It’s why when the feed clicks on, the view is of both brothers leaving the Mansion, their destination becoming clear within the next few seconds. Parked just outside sits a car, black surface shining and spotless and perfect.

And Dean? Dean looks beyond excited, breaking away from his brother with a few quick steps as he approaches the newly arrived vehicle. Like a kid in a candy store, he huffs a laugh as he approaches it, hand reaching out to touch the Impala the moment he’s close enough, an undeniable gasp leaving him as he does. ]

Baby—

[ Anything and anyone else seems to be forgotten after that, Dean’s focus entirely on the car. He all but embraces it, whispering —Sorry I left you, I’m back now, you’re so beautiful, I’ll never let anyone hurt or touch you again — things to what’s arguably a third Winchester by every standard except blood.

The reason it's all being recorded in the first place is due to Sam who, though the network can't see his face, has the whole scene playing out via his camera. The younger Winchester, who'd spotted the car earlier, just scoffs in honest disbelief. ]

Told you. I wouldn't've believed it, but... yeah. Guess she left it behind.

[ "For us" goes unspoken after the exceptionally awkward story that she'd elected to share with everyone. It's a backwards kind of bittersweet now that she'd gone, gifting them their literal mobile home. ]

Just wanted you to see it. I'll give you two a room.

[ With a little laugh, he turns away as if to head back inside. However, the video from the device switches to another recorded feed, one from a camera that Sam had stuck within the car before bringing his brother out. Apparently edited for content, a song queues up in the background to overlay the scene.

And what a scene it is. Anyone who actually decides it’s a good idea to keep watching will be subjected to more of, well, what’s already been going on. Dean’s all but kissing the car, rounding around the back until he’s at the driver’s side, then slipping in to sit behind the wheel. Hands feel down the steering wheel, then the side compartment — his cassettes, yes — and every inch of the car. All with Dean looking as if he’s been reunited with a long lost friend, words of affection still whispered to the car in a hushed tone.

Shh, this is a private moment. ]

Okay, this is starting to get really weird. Like... beyond-Wonderland weird.

[ And then an upnod, as if noting the car itself. ]

She's nice, though. You gonna give out rides?

[ He won't bother filling in that he'd already taken a cruise with the last Dean who had inherited a previous version of the Impala for an even earlier version of himself. Nor will he admit that he actually got to drive once (only once) when everything was shit and Dean had sensed his best friend needed something a little better than a beer and the suggestion to walk it off. He wants to say it, but he doesn't. The urge to do so has decreased considerably, in fact, and Blake might bemoan the loss if he didn't find they were already getting along well enough, all versions and past problems aside. Finally. ]

To some, sure... [ the words are a little slower, dean thinking it over. there's already a couple people he'll insist on cruising around with, like jo, cas, and charlie (sam? never ever after this). but the idea of extending that to people beyond those immediately closest to him... ]

To anyone who appreciates her, anyway. Can't just let any Wonderfreak with too many insultin' questions and opinions slip in.

Yeah, right. Never know what kinda sicko might come in and start listenin' to Abba tapes. That'd be the end of the world.

[ Despite the ribbing, John's settled into something of a pleased calm. Maybe they're not so close anymore, but it's still nice to see a guy's wishes and dreams come to fruition before his very eyes.

And then in a more thoughtful tone: ] Your friend went home, then? Becky? [ It's an assumption, mostly based on context clues. ]

Can you call someone who posted very disturbing reading material of you and your family for everyone to see, and then gave you the best gift a guy could ask for really a friend? There has to be a special word for what she was.

[ honestly, dean has no idea where to start when it comes to one becky rosen. ]

[ silence is the better option here, yes, for all involved. either way, dean shrugs. ]

Haven't lost my head--or seen anyone lose theirs for a bit. Not since the, uh, whole Jabberwocky thing, anyway. [ if getting amnesia'd counts as losing your head, anyway. ] So can't complain a whole lot. You look like you're in one piece, too.

[ Uh huh. Speaking of that... ]

No thanks to you. Makin' deals with Crowley now? You ass. Lay down with dogs, you're gonna get fleas, y'know.

[ But he's mostly over it. He's not even all that mad, to be honest. At this point it's not hard to tell why they did what they did, and he's had these damn fleas for so long. ]

So worth a shot though. 'Bout the only damn plan anyone had going into that mess. [ he still can't believe crowley of all people was mostly behind it, too. ]

You know, I would've let you wear a club badge but Crowley was the one who insisted your, uh, delicate ass stay uninvolved.

[ not that any of their plans for having other people help out had worked through in the end because of the mirrors. ]

[ Oh so very ruefully spoken, that line. Not that John's surprised. Even after everything they've faced together, people still underestimate his ability to keep himself upright and breathing (somewhat for good reason). ]

Do me a favor and let's spread out the stupidity a little better next time. Take enough hits with people goin' home, don't need the both of you turnin' yourselves into vegetables.

[ blake would have been useful to some extent if he'd been in on the plan, but... ]

Say that involves you then-- something tells me you'd pull the plug on whatever plan there is when things get a little dicey. Especially with Crowley involved.

Well, that somethin's tellin' you wrong.

[ It's said with levity, but behind John's thin smile is an edge that he hopes Winchester can pick up on. John's not a demon or a mutant or even a hunter, but he's hardly powerless. In fact, like Superman himself, there's method to Blake's madness when it comes to giving certain people certain impressions; in the end, if he needs the element of surprise, he almost always has it. ]

Just watch the lone wolf policy, Winchester. If you share secrets but the only people who know 'em are dead or brainless, they kinda remain that way.

[ The last thing anyone needs is to be left wondering why the hell the two of them did something so stupid. As if there aren't other alternatives... ]

[ maybe dean is assuming too much-- and rubbing it in john's face. but until he sees otherwise, he'll go with the idea that blake is, in the end, a good person, and like any good person he'll try to do the right thing even when a plan might require the hard decision to be made.

either way, dean ends up snorting of all things, then smiles somewhat wryly. ]

[ as if he really needs any pointers on sharing or keeping secrets. ]

[ At this point, all he really wants is to be heard. Dean's somewhat obvious deflection is enough. ]

[ oh, the mention of the impala gets a more genuine smile-smirk. ]
