[ It’s not every day that the people of Wonderland get good news, and boy has Dean gotten some— at least according to his brother. It’s why when the feed clicks on, the view is of both brothers leaving the Mansion, their destination becoming clear within the next few seconds. Parked just outside sits a car, black surface shining and spotless and perfect.

And Dean? Dean looks beyond excited, breaking away from his brother with a few quick steps as he approaches the newly arrived vehicle. Like a kid in a candy store, he huffs a laugh as he approaches it, hand reaching out to touch the Impala the moment he’s close enough, an undeniable gasp leaving him as he does. ]

Baby—

[ Anything and anyone else seems to be forgotten after that, Dean’s focus entirely on the car. He all but embraces it, whispering —Sorry I left you, I’m back now, you’re so beautiful, I’ll never let anyone hurt or touch you again — things to what’s arguably a third Winchester by every standard except blood.

The reason it's all being recorded in the first place is due to Sam who, though the network can't see his face, has the whole scene playing out via his camera. The younger Winchester, who'd spotted the car earlier, just scoffs in honest disbelief. ]

Told you. I wouldn't've believed it, but... yeah. Guess she left it behind.

[ "For us" goes unspoken after the exceptionally awkward story that she'd elected to share with everyone. It's a backwards kind of bittersweet now that she'd gone, gifting them their literal mobile home. ]

Just wanted you to see it. I'll give you two a room.

[ With a little laugh, he turns away as if to head back inside. However, the video from the device switches to another recorded feed, one from a camera that Sam had stuck within the car before bringing his brother out. Apparently edited for content, a song queues up in the background to overlay the scene.

And what a scene it is. Anyone who actually decides it’s a good idea to keep watching will be subjected to more of, well, what’s already been going on. Dean’s all but kissing the car, rounding around the back until he’s at the driver’s side, then slipping in to sit behind the wheel. Hands feel down the steering wheel, then the side compartment — his cassettes, yes — and every inch of the car. All with Dean looking as if he’s been reunited with a long lost friend, words of affection still whispered to the car in a hushed tone.

Shh, this is a private moment. ]

Oh-- Hey, no, it's-- I don't think it'd work. [ Sam cracks a smile at that, glad to have Cas around to both appreciate the significance of the Impala and to try and make the whole experience even better (though he doesn't think making highways around the grounds would be good for anyone). ] But thanks.

[ He isn't within sight of the car now but he does turn to glance out the window. ]

... It was here before. D'you remember?

[Castiel tilts his head at that, because now it's become more than a favor. It's a challenge, to see if he can actually do it. Paved roads isn't a lot to ask, not from an angel.] Wonderland would undo my work at the end of each day, but they would be usable for a few hours at least.

[Sam's question brings forth memories of another time, before Dean was sent back home to have his memories wiped clean. He nods, even though it isn't something he likes to think about very much these days.]

I do. He kept it in the stables.

[It didn't get much use then, but maybe that can change now.]

Yeah. [ He smiles faintly; it's something that he sometimes forgets, that Cas--this Cas--has been with him through all of this. But, it's something he appreciates and really has come to lean on when things like this come up. ] Fits the bill, I guess...

Really, Cas, you don't have to do it. Uh-- I mean, I know it probably isn't tough for you, or... anything, but don't feel like you have to.

[The stables had been a good storage place, and Castiel may as well suggest that Dean keeps it there again. He can't think of any better place for it, unless Dean wants to build his own garage.

It's always been Sam who took more care with not taking for granted the things that Castiel did for them, but in this case there's no real reason for concern. Castiel shakes his head.]

I wouldn't have offered if I didn't want to do it. [It may have been a joke, yes, but he still knew better than to mention such a thing if he couldn't follow through.]

[ Or unless he wants to try and get the car into his room... somehow... ]

Right, I know. [ Not sure if joking, sometimes, Cas. ] Well... uh, then, it'd be a pretty good birthday present for Dean, if you're looking for ideas? Just a whole stretch of road. That'd make him happy.

[Sam makes a very good point there. Dean's birthday is coming up at the end of this month, isn't it? He may not actually be aging (a small blessing here in Wonderland, that no actual years are being lost to it), but it still seems worth celebrating.]

That's a good idea. I'm sure he'll want to go for a drive then too. Did you have any plans for it?

[They may as well start plotting it out now.]

[ Eh, Dean's mentally an old geezer, in Sam's mind. Crankier than most and touchy about old stuff that nobody likes anymore.

Except Sam, sometimes. And a select other few. ]

He's not usually into the birthday stuff, so I try to keep it low-key. Last year... man. I don't know, did we do something last year? It was right after... you know.

[ When they realized they were on a runaway train. ]

[Neither Sam nor Dean seem particularly big on celebrating their birthdays. In Sam's case, it's understandable, given that he no doubt associates his birthday with so many horrible incidents.

Dean, on the other hand... it's difficult to say. Regardless of how he might behave on the outside, chances are that he would still appreciate the gesture from them.]

His birthday always comes right after the holidays, which here in Wonderland is... [Not a pleasant time, to say the least.]

We could all go eat at the diner. It's what he would most likely end up doing on his birthday back home. [If only because that was a normal part of his routine when on the job.]

I think he'd like that. [ Sam cracks a smile at the suggestion; it's really always such a blessing to have Castiel in Wonderland, as they've both been through a lot together and can jointly deal with Dean-related things as they come up. It'd be a lot tougher without the angel around, Sam knows. ]

Wanna surprise him? We could send him an anonymous message and set something up there. Nothing big, just us, Jo, Charlie, maybe Blake and James...

[ He frowns slightly, trying to summon the names of people who'd come, who Dean could stand to be around. ]

... Kevin, Garth-- Who else?

It's possible he might not respond to any anonymous messages, but if he doesn't, then I could always go collect him.

[Swoop into Dean's room, snatch him, and then fly right back to the diner. It wouldn't be that difficult, and while Dean might hold it against him for a few minutes, it would be worth the surprise.

As for the guest list, that's something that takes some more consideration. Castiel is surprised that Sam would add Garth to that number -- maybe they're closer than he realized.]

Adam...? Would Adam want to come?

[It's a sore subject, and Castiel doesn't think that the Winchesters have managed to patch things up with their third brother, even after all these months trapped in the same place.]

Good enough plan to me. We can bait him with dessert and drinks; that usually does the trick.

[ Sam scoffs, shaking his head, and then... pauses, smile faltering. ]

Adam-- [ Fuck. No, they haven't managed to patch things up, and as far as he's concerned, it seems as if they'd never be able to see eye to eye no matter what he and Dean said. ]

Uh-- I mean, d'you think he'd even consider it? The guy hates us more than most of the "bad guys" here, Cas.

[Castiel doesn't keep track of the status of each relationship here, but he hadn't noticed any change in Adam's attitude toward the Winchesters, no. It's wishful thinking to even consider it, and yet it seems wrong to overlook him too.

Sam doesn't exactly mince his words when he explains Adam's feelings toward them, though, and after a long pause Castiel nods.]

You're right. It might end up causing tension, and the point is for Dean to have a good time.

[But he's at a loss for who else to invite.] Maybe it's for the best if we keep it to just a few people.

I think he'd like it better that way. [ Or not at all, but. Who cares about Dean's opinion, right?? ] I'll let them know, and... uh, d'you want to get him a cake? You could probably just nab one from the kitchens.

Pie-- I mean, a pie. Not a cake.

[Sam definitely means a pie, not a cake. If they get that basic detail wrong, Dean might disown both of them in one fell swoop.]

Yes, I'm certain I can get a pie from the kitchens... or the diner.

[He's heard there's someone here who bakes very good pies. Castiel's never tried them himself, but no doubt Dean would appreciate it.

He glances up and smiles briefly.] This will be... nice, to do for him.
