Mission #006 [Video] Backdated to early on the 17th

[It's rare to see Sam truly angry. He has a remarkable capacity to take things in stride. Maxine might have seen him like this, maybe Simon, but no-one else in Wonderland and even then back home, the anger had been cut with hurt and betrayal and loss. There's none of that this time. Just rage.

The camera is too close to give a view on where he is posting this message from, or whether there's anyone with him. He's not stupid. But nor is he locking this away from Dean. He knows what he's done.]

Dean Winchester, or whatever he is right now, murdered Jo Harvelle last night. He tried to kill Simon Lauchlan too, but that didn't stick, and he brutally injured Doctor Maxine Myers, just because she tried to help Jo.

He planned this. It was horrible and brutal and vicious and he'll do it again.

Stay together. Stay armed and ward your rooms if you can and don't think you can argue or bargain your way out of it. He's a monster and he's killing for fun. There's no talking to things like that.

I hope you have something planned soon. He's not going to stop. He's hurt some of the people closest to me and if you won't stop him, then I will.

[He isn't sure how, but he has ideas and none of them are pleasant.]

Geez louise, what the heck is wrong with this place...[ Said more to herself than anything. She feels bad for this guy, having to deal with the loss of someone he obviously cares about, but she's not a comfort-ing type, so she just kind of...carefully sidesteps the whole 'sorry for your loss' thing. ]

Hey, what's this guy look like? It's kind of hard to avoid someone with just a name, you know? [ Plus, she needs to make sure Wirt doesn't accidentally get killed or something ok. ]

About six feet tall, short brown hair. Insane smile. Possibly covered in blood. Carrying a really nasty looking knife.

His eyes might be black all over too, not just the pupils, everything.

She'll be fine. She's tough.

[Bigby knew something had happened - he could smell the blood in the air and it only pushed him deeper into losing control. Snow was gone and now this. The only thing that kept him sane was the fact that it wasn't her blood he smelled mixed in with the others.]

You need help. Only another monster can bring this guy down. As Sheriff (and as a monster), I'll take charge.

I don't need help. Everyone else needs help. I'm fine. [Maxine and Jo and Simon had needed help but it was too late for that.]

Action. Because reasons.

[He's never seen Sam look like that, even when he was mad at Simon. As soon as he opens his mouth and tell the network about Jo it all makes sense. He curses silently and doesn't bother to waste time contacting him on the phone. Sam is angry and Billy is scared of what he is going to do.

Sometimes super powers really pay off and now is one of those times. Being able to just teleport himself to Sam's location saves a lot of time. He looks worried when he appears in front of Sam. ]

Are Maxine and Simon ok? Do they need help? [He's not asking about Jo because the answer to that question is obvious. ]

Action. Because reasons.

[He's already arming up by the time Billy appears. For all that he'd said to Sam and Castiel and Crowley, part of him had never intended to wait around for Dean to come after them again, or anyone else for that matter. He's got supplies; a tank of holy water, shotgun shells filled with rock salt which had been dissolved in holy water and mixed with iron filings because why settle for just one?

He's loading his own sidearm when Billy appears and for a minute there's pure fear on Sam's face, gun raised before he realises who it is.

His heart is pounding, breath coming in heavy gasps before he drops the gun.]

Don't- don't do that. It scared me.

They're fine. They're safe for now. I mean, no, Maxine's a mess and Simon's a worse mess and won't leave Jo's side and he probably should be dead but... not yet.

--my God. [The video cuts on suddenly, Cami's surprise not stopping her from replying when she hears Sam's announcement. Jo's death, the injury of a stranger, Simon: she barely knows where to begin, because just days ago she'd seen the sadder side of Dean, pathetic and almost weak, only to be reminded that yes, he still had all the power and all the viciousness of a psychotic demon murderer to match it.]

Where--no, wait. [She needs a second, because that's not a question she should be asking over an open video feed. Not if Dean had tried to kill Simon and somehow failed, and only once she's made the video private does she continue.]

Where are all of you?

[At least someone has sense not to ask on an open channel, but Sam is still suspicious. He thinks he's sen her in the bar, but he can't be sure, can't trust that she's not a threat.]

I'm in my room. Jo and Simon are... some other place. Who's asking?

Where is she?

<sub>[The voice, rough like jagged stone, teeters on the brink of a growl. Where's Jo is what he wants to know. Her body... it must be somewhere, it couldn't have just been left sitting out, could it? No, they're civilized here, they at least move the bodies after they let monsters tear people to shreds.

They let it. They just let it happen all the damn time. They'd let this happen.

They'd let Dean kill Jo again, for fuck's sake.

And there Adam goes again, needing a second to breathe in through clenched teeth before the raw, black anger in him threatens to take over completely. This is the Winchesters' fault, he has to remember. They're to blame for letting her trust in them and then failing her, just like they did everyone else.]</sub>

Depends who's asking.

[He recognises Adam. He's around the bar enough and Sam has seen him with Jo, but the paranoia isn't going away. He isn't telling anyone anything until he's cleared it with Simon. He doesn't want it getting back to the wrong person.]

[ The amount of times he's been answering calls like this as of late is just sickening. It bottoms out Blake's stomach, makes him feel cold and angry. He feels like no matter what they do, they majority of people are powerless against a force like Dean, and that includes Crowley and Sam and even Castiel at this point. What other excuse is there for Dean still being on the loose. ]

Sam, if there's anything I can do...

[ He doubts there is. He doesn't talk to Jo and Dean practically killed him the last time they shared a room, but John has to offer. In some ways he feels responsible that this has gone on as long as it has, like he should know something that would solve this after the long and important friendship he once had with Dean. And yet... ]

If you want, I can bring Crowley an' we can stand watch or somethin'.

There isn't. [He groans and drags a hand through his hair.] Sorry, don't mean to snap but... I don't think there's anything anyone can do.

[It doesn't feel that way. Things should have been done ages ago.

He gives Blake a grateful smile and shakes his head.]

It's okay. They're as safe as they can be. And I don't want to get either of you in more danger than you are.

[ This gets Rick's attention because he knows a few of the people mentioned. Jo was one of the first people to reach out and just be kind to him for the hell of it. Maxine is someone he already respects, and Dean...he remembers him. They spoke once.

So he has one very important question to start with: ]

Dean? Was he always like this?

[ That son of a bitch. ]

No. [It's a sullen admission, because right now he doesn't want to think of Dean as a person. He's done monstrous things. It's so much easier to think of him as a monster.]

No, he's- this is new. The last couple of weeks. You'd have to ask his brother for the details.

He's a demon.

[ He doesn't feel like having an argument, or even a conversation, about all of this. But he owes it to Sam to try and stop him from losing a life. ]

You'll just add fuel to the fire. Literally.

[ Dean's only gotten stronger, a rampaging force beyond all their control. ]

He's doing a good job of that himself. Jo didn't go after him, he hunted her down. Maxine didn't go after him but she still got half killed.

Simon... okay, Simon did go after him but Simon is an idiot.

He is going to keep doing this, picking us off again and again.

I don't want to go after him. If you have a better plan, tell me and I will do everything I can to help. But he attacked my people and I'm sick of watching them die. I have to do that enough at home.

[Should Castiel be surprised at this point?

No, no he shouldn't be. Dean had even asked him for input on who he should target next. But he'd already had an encounter with Jo, one where she'd been wounded enough that Castiel had healed her, and he'd thought maybe that would be enough.

All of his assumptions during this mess have been nothing more than betrayals, and he is done with blood being spilled.

It isn't anger that Castiel replies with, but utter weariness that shows in the lines on his vessel's face. He's wanted to return Dean to his true self ever since this started, but it's not that simple. If it was, they would have done it already.]

Don't. You'll only add yourself to his body count, and that's the last thing Jo would want.

[Oddly enough, he does feel that he can speak with authority on that.]

[Castiel looks about as tired as Sam feels right now, and even so, it's only the mention of Jo that keeps him from the anger he'd directed at Sam.]

I don't want to die, but at the moment, I'm not convinced it wouldn't be worth it for the satisfaction of shooting out his kneecaps with iron laced rocksalt.

[James is too stunned to speak. Somehow, he thought this was a line that even Dean wouldn't cross, but Dean started all of this by killing his own brother. Of course he would go this far. Eventually James makes himself speak, though he has to noticeably steel himself.]

Is she somewhere safe now? I hate to say it...

[He really does. It breaks his heart to say it, to assume so badly of Dean. But Dean isn't Dean anymore and he has to stop thinking of him that way. Dean is someone who they need to protect people from.]

...but if he's so fixated on killing her, he might keep trying until she hits her fifth death.

[It isn't just heartbreaking though. He sounds angry, absolutely furious under the surface that any of this is happening.]

[He's glad that Jo has a lot of friends. He just wishes that all of them could have been around, like he wishes that he'd been around when Dean attacked. Probably wouldn't have done any good but... he wishes.]

She's safe.

And yeah, the thought had occurred to me. I don't know what I can do about that though. And I really want to.
