[Video / Action] Danger Room is go!

[Natasha doesn't normally make open posts on the network and she's been fortunate so far in that the magic here hasn't decided to reveal her at inopportune or embarrassing moments for everyone else. Today she makes an exceptionhowever, opening a broadcast for the network in general. When the video starts, it reveals the redhead dressed in her typical sparring attire in a bright open room. Her manner is friendly and open because she's here for a reason today. Which should be apparent when the video pans out to show the expanded room behind her.

It's a mix between a gym and a training facility, something resembling the rooms that had been used back at SHIELD for the more extreme styles of training. There's no weight machines or treadmills here, but there are two large sparring rings off to one side, an aerialist set-up and high bars, a large climbing wall, and a row of waiting punching bags and training dummies. A simple running track rings the outside of the room and the entire area is lit by large windows on the far side of the room overlooking the lawn. The opposite side of the room holds a large obstacle course for training purposes. Behind it, the wall held a series of doors that led off to smaller rooms for private sessions, weapons training and a holographic simulator - the one room that was still in progress as Tony tinkered with it. The entire floor is one large mat, letting any space be potentially useful for whatever needs the users had. ]

Hello, Wonderland. I've heard a lot of discussion about this lately and about a week ago, some of us decided to do something about it. I know there's training and self-defense and weapons classes that happen at various times and places around here, but a few of us thought having one centralized location for these might be helpful. We had a facility similar to this back in our home and it was almost always in use.

This one will be here night or day and open to anyone who wants to come and learn or practice with others and if the existing lessons occurring would like an equipped place to hold them, we have private rooms set up along the side as well as this central one. We're also working on a room that can simulate battles and attackers in hologram form but we're still testing that out as our resident genius is still tinkering with the technology, so I apologize ahead of times if there's any bugs.

That said, you can find this room on the first floor in Rooms 20 and 22. I'll be here for most of the day to answer any questions or help out if you need it.

Also, on that note, I know I've offered this to a few people, but I suppose I should make it official. If anyone would be interested in learning self-defense or weapons skills, I have a wide variety of hand-to-hand knowledge and training in... well. A lot of things. I've been passing this on to some people, but I don't mind adding new students to people interested in learning, or even just testing themselves against someone, if you're in search of a sparring partner. I'm sure some of my fellow Avengers are also interested in doing the same, so you can let me know here or stop by.

I've found I have a lot of time on my hands here and I'd like to see about filling a bit better. [This is confessed with a bit of a rueful smile, because she's sure she's not the only one with this sentiment. She doesn't bother with goodbyes, but flicks off the feed after that, letting interested parties respond however they'd like.]

That place looks amazing. [ it's way more sophisticated than anything at Camp Half Blood. he wouldn't know what to do in a ring ( he'd have to take some classes of his own for that ) but the punching bags, the climbing wall - they all look like great choices to burn off his endless amount of energy. he thinks the classes he teaches for swordfighting might be better suited to an outdoors environment for now but maybe eventually a simulated opponent might be good for his students. ] It only took a week to put all of that together?

A little over. I admit, we cheated a few times and used the magic and the closets to come up with what we couldn't do on our own. There were a few misfires, but we eventually got most of what we needed.

It helps that we had the memory of a model from back home to base it off of. Several of us used a similar facility back where we come from.

Still. [ admit it, the place is amazing! ] When you have enough people working on a project, I guess it shouldn't be that surprising that you can put it together so quickly. I think an open training environment will do a lot of good for the people here. [ himself included. he tries not to think about the people that will use it for the wrong reasons though. he wonders if there's going to be any kind of supervision or limitations to the kinds of classes being taught there. ]

[ Okay fine, you twisted her arm. It is pretty cool. Not that she'll let on any confession that easily. ]

I'm hoping so. I know there are classes and training that happen in various places, but I didn't think it'd hurt to have a room dedicated to just this purpose that people can swing by whenever. Not to mention some of us hold rather odd hours, so there's that as well.

Will we be seeing you around, then?

[ She's seen him around on the network once or twice but she hasn't had the chance to meet him in person yet. ]

I'm one of them. I don't think my classes would work out so wonderful in an indoors environment. I teach swordfighting. [ and he wouldn't want anyone to accidentally whack someone with the blade of a sword while attempting to hold it higher or preparing to swing. ] I've got a small arena outside near the maze.

But I wouldn't mind taking a class or two of my own to try some other fighting styles.

We did leave several open areas for any types of training that requires a little more room, but out by the maze does sound like a pleasant place to learn. You can keep it in mind in case you get rained out some time. You'd certainly get some interested spectators. Swordfighting isn't something we see a lot of where I come from. Not in practical use anymore, anyway.

[ She eyes him with renewed curiosity. He doesn't sound like he's from an era that uses swords. Although there's quite a few of them here that she has encountered. ]

You're welcome to. It never hurts learning different things, especially when you can incorporate them into your own style.

The weather hasn't been too bad so far. [ water's not too much of an issue for him but he has a feeling Rachel's not going to want to train rain or shine. ] But if it starts raining cats and dogs, I'll bring it inside. [ he nods at her comment about it not being in use where she's from. he gets that. he only picked it up five years ago and before then, he would have looked at someone as if they were crazy if they decided swords were the go to weapons over guns, or anything else. ] I come from a version of Earth that has monsters and while kicking and punching them will get them off your back, it doesn't get rid of them.

[ not that monsters ever seriously disappear. ]

Are you going to be teaching any classes?

If it starts raining cats and dogs, we have bigger things to worry about than swordfighting lessons.

[ It's stated as a teasing joke on his turn or phrase, but this is Wonderland. At this point, she wouldn't put anything past this place.

She cocks her head curiously at his explanation of his world. ]

Swords are more effective against your monsters then?

I am. I'm mostly gauging interest in what people are looking for right now, but I know a variety of styles of hand-to-hand combat and multiple weapons, as well. I tend to adapt the lessons to the student, what they're looking to accomplish and what they'd be best suited for.

[ that's basically what he meant anyway and he cracks a grin that she caught onto it. he meant literal cats and dogs or he would have chosen another expression to compare to the rain. ]

Considering we've already had hundreds of piglets and puppies, those cats are going to be really angry that they get to crash land in a downpour.

[ he shrugs at her next question because it honestly depends on what the weapon is composed of. ]

It's not so much the swords as it is the kind of metal they're made up of. I have friends that use bows, spears, knives. I bet there's even a gun or two out there with the right kind of ammo. Swords are just easier to get your hands on. [ the older campers do their best to find a weapon best suited to the demigod. for him, it was a sword. others feel naturally drawn to other weapons. ] Hand-to-hand wasn't a priority back at camp. Being able to improvise and use anything as a weapon is important and that comes naturally, but I'd like to be able to handle myself here if I need to.

At least they're likely to land on their feet?

[ She returns his grin, easy and comfortable, then absorbs the information he gives her about his home. ]

So it's the metal, not the weapon? Can I ask what that is, if that's not something you mind sharing?

That's an important skill to have in any world, I think. You never know what circumstances will throw at you. Or this place.

[ but lucky for them, they aren't dealing with cats falling out of the clouds and hissing at them as they do. ]

We call it Celestial Bronze but there's another called Imperial Gold that works just as well. We even have Stygian Iron. I'm sure there are more out there than I've heard of but the first two are the most common. [ talking about the types of weapons at home is probably the least personal information he's head to share. ]

I've heard all kinds of stories. Apparently this place turned into a prison and had a full-on zombie invasion during one event. Most of the ones that have happened since I've been here haven't been so bad. [ no, it's the inhabitants of Wonderland that truly worry him, especially after Clarisse was murdered. ]

Look! Another valid reason for you to be training indoors on those days.

[ She files that information away, but it's nothing she's heard of. Perhaps something unique to where he comes from? Wherever that is. ]

I've heard of that as well. I'm in the same boat as you in that most of the events have been rather benign, unless you count the playing they do with our memories for some of them.

[ Which was disconcerting, but never seemed permanent, like any of the events. Even if the emotions and feelings of friendships still seemed to carry over. Was there a point in that? ]

Then again, I've also been told the events are pulled from certain people's memories here, so I have much more sympathy for whoever came from that place. I'm not sure I'd want to return home.

[ he doesn't expect to see recognition light her eyes. seeing it there might mean she's a problem because only monsters in disguise understand what he's going on about, or he would think she had knowledge of the Greeks and Romans beyond what the legends say. ]

I've had about enough of that both from here and home. I'm hoping that was the last memory altering one we'll see, but that's probably wishful thinking on my part.

[ there's no point to it, other than whoever's responsible ( the queen, bill, alice ) getting a laugh at their expense. ]

I've heard that one too. Maybe Wonderland draws from the most intense memories and only shows of one side of what their world's like. [ if he came from a place where zombies were trying to eat him he wouldn't want to go back either, but he would given the choice if Annabeth was there alone. ]

Is that another side effect of your monsters or someone else?

[ Memory altering from someone's homeworld is a new one to add to her list of experiences reported from different places. Perhaps not to hers, but this is the first time it's come up in conversation about someone else's home. ]

They do seem inordinately fond of it here, don't they? Not that all of it has been bad. While it was happening, at least. Some of them were even rather fun.

[ That still feels ridiculously strange to say. ]

I guess if they hit you on the head hard enough that might rattle some memories loose. [ his attempt at humor as much as anything else. ] But I can thank someone else for that experience.

[ Hera's as bad as monsters. having good intentions doesn't excuse going about it in the wrong way, regardless of it also being the only choice to reunite two sides of one family. ]

I know what you mean. I rocked the merman look. [ don't tell Poseidon he said that. ] And having all those puppies around, man, I don't know how anyone could hate that.

You'd be amazed what a good hit to the head can accomplish. Sometimes it even brings memories back.

[ It had worked for Clint, lucky for her.

His comment about the merman had her laughing, looking bemused. ] Merman, huh? I think I missed that one. And that is rather difficult, I suppose, unless you're allergic perhaps. Then I imagine you wouldn't be enjoying yourself much.

Just how hard are you hitting people?

[ maybe that's what he should have tried instead of challenging a seer into drinking a vial of gorgon's blood without knowing which was able to heal and which was meant to destroy. ]

Bummer. It was one of the more harmless ones. As soon as you dried off, your legs came back.

[ His question makes her laugh. ] Depends on how hard their heads are.

Most of them have seemed pretty harmless, but that does sound like it would have been rather fun.
