[ she's been missing for a month. cora doesn't know it for certain, but she can sense something is different about wonderland. it's the smell, the way the leaves crunched differently beneath her feet when she walked out of the woods earlier that day. she can't quite put her finger on what's different, but she knows that the world she had left behind earlier that morning (five weeks ago) has somehow shifted on its axis. ]

[ however, despite her suspicions, cora's not going to bother with the pleasantries. nor is she going to bother to ask. she doesn't do network posts — doesn't see the purpose in them — but she'd been out for a run in the woods. she'd gone out in hopes of pushing herself out of her negative headspace, but has only seemed to dive further in it. ]

Throw a dog a bone. Anyone know any good jokes? Could use a couple. My brother doesn't smile much and it'd be nice to see him :) for once. Or :D if I'm lucky.

[ ha ha. something is off and perhaps it's because derek hale has learnt how to smile. ]

Kind of expected him to be mad. It's easier when he's annoyed with me.

[ and that's a little too much information for cora. she responds to anger better than anything else. derek upset and worried — she can't deal with. him telling her to stop pushing herself, him telling her to stay back, him telling her to watch herself and not do anything stupid — while it's all a sign of him caring, there's gruffness to it. she can fight back when he says things like that — prefaces it like an order — but when he's quiet and broody, she can't try and divert the attention away from his point. ]

[ she's been gone — missing, again. and to think of the pain it's caused her brother … she'd rather he be angry. ]

told him you're okay?

that you remember everything except for disappearing?
he was kind of freaking out for a bit there.

[ understatement? yes, maybe, but it's something. it's helpful. allison doesn't have an actual family to try and piece together at this point when it comes to siblings, but she can try with everyone else. ]

I'm glad to have you back, though.
like really glad :)

[ wow, calm down, logical allison. we don't want any of this logic in here. ]

Would a hug convey all of that? Derek and I are kind of playing … avoid the subject. I feel bad for disappearing on him, even if I didn't mean to. He's been disappointed too much by the family.

[ PETER. ]

[ cora had made a promise to not be like peter, to not disappear like she had done so for six years. it's rare to have a pack reform, even after half of its bones are missing. derek's ohana, and so is allison. to think she's somehow hurt any of them by letting herself get swept up in wonderland's tricks angers her. ]

[ she's already been disappointed. cora doesn't want to ever make anyone feel that ever again. ]

I'm glad to be back. Good to see you're still here. Not floating, thankfully. :P

as far as hale family talks go, I'd say yeah.
it's not your fault you left, but I think he'd like to know that even if he couldn't help it you're still safe.
there's nothing any of us can really do when that happens but it's still nice to know when we're back

[ and it's weird to think that allison knows this because she'd be the same way. because she'd be pacing and angry and frustrated until the moment she knew things were possible, maybe, okay.

is that taking too much of a step? maybe. oh well. ]

[ if cora and allison weren't united by their love of indiana jones, cora would simply give her a I'll see what I can do. and that's that. but since allison is becoming a friend … one of those good ones, too, cora's finding herself, well, opening up just a little on how stupid her brain works. emotion isn't necessarily a weakness, but it's one that cora had vowed to never destroy her ever again. being rough and tough meant she was impenetrable, that nothing bothered her at all — she's seen that derek's built himself the same way. ]

[ she still finds it confusing, how she had been missing for them, but they hadn't been missing for her. ]

It's stupid. I'm just not used to this. The Derek I remembered cared, but he also cared about basketball. This one …

[ is kind of broken beyond any sort of repair. and she doesn't want to break him anymore. so, she tries to act like she's not bothered, that this entire situation doesn't bother her, and that she's not worried, so he shouldn't be. ]

Was he really worried? I'm worried. I heard Wonderland ended up breaking apart and everyone was floating.

[ then: ]

There's a chance I may have read that wrong.

[ the thing about this, too, is that allison doesn't necessarily see that. she knows cora is a hale, assumes that means she comes with her reasons for the look. reasons for the thick skin and tougher hide. it took longer for allison to accept this from derek just because of past history, but cora? cora she didn't have an issue with. cora she just assumed would let her in when she wanted people to be let in.

and it's not that allison reads their conversations and thinks there, right there, but rather she just keeps it normal. casual. they can be friends, after all. they don't need to complicate it. ]

a lot changes
and while I don't know what happened to derek, I know that who he is now is for a reason
but you're his sister, you'll be able to figure it out

I know. He shouldn't. I've just gone so long thinking he wasn't there to worry about. I guess it's just … I don't like that I didn't know I was gone.

[ even when she'd been out of beacon hills for six years, time had moved. it had moved to the point where she had heard of a hale pack forming. time moved and so did she. but here? time only moved in seconds for her, while it moved in days and weeks for derek. she had vowed to herself she would never leave him again — not without saying a proper goodbye and ensuring he knew she was safe. ]

Floating on bits of rock. I was picturing everyone just floating. Good to know there was room for everyone on the door.

you can't help that. wonderland does whatever it can to mess with us
but derek's going to worry about you whether you want him to or not
you're family, cora, family sticks together and family worries and is overprotective
you're back now, though, so it doesn't really matter

[ allison has a sinking feeling that maybe, maybe, wonderland does it on purpose. finds way to rip and tear at the worst sides of them. ]

yeah no, no flying. thankfully.
but that also meant we couldn't do anything, or go anywhere
it was really annoying that way

[ allison has a point. and when doesn't she? cora's been a lone wolf for so long that it's time to stretch those hind legs of hers and get used to the fact that she has a family again. it may not be the one she had been born into, with her mother's love and her sister's teasing and her brother's ego, but it's family, nonetheless. the pack accepts her for all her coolness and abrasiveness and overuse of emoticons. ]

Hope he didn't bug you too much. Not sure what Derek's like now when he worries, but he can be pretty overwhelming.

[ little derek, she used to think, couldn't give a damn. but little derek seemed to have the world at his feet. this derek seems to have the world in pieces before his. ]

You should've come to the woods with me. Could jump and skip and do anything I wanted. :P But I'm glad you're all right. Heard there was a serial killer ... Stiles said we're us. Like we attract death. Not exactly the most comforting text to receive.

[ allison is just more than appreciative that cora is at least giving her the chance to be a part of her pack. to worry and fret and want to protect, to help their little growing family. ]

[ jab jab joke joke. allie might not know what it's like to have siblings, but she imagines it's a lot like this. ]

stiles and derek both died, and it really rattled them.
isaac was almost blamed for it but managed to talk his way out
lydia lost her voice and I was pushed down a flight of stairs but

[ cora would inform allison she laughed, but considering her casual avoidance of topics cora doesn't really like has followed her joke on derek, cora finds it dies before her fingertips can even press the keys. ]

Just Wonderland. Something tells me it shouldn't be me with a bodyguard. You guys really need to stop with this crap or else I'm literally going to go insane.

[ there really is no point in sugarcoating that cora is not fine in hearing this. derek died again? for a man who wishes to protect her, cora's starting to think she's failing him by not being overbearing toward him. and the rest of the pack? cora thinks she needs to take a leaf out of sheriff stilinski's book and either turn sarcastic with anger or take an ibuprofen. ]

[ oh, allison definitely gets that. just like she's sort of adapted this horrible, awful sardonic humor when it comes to all this. ]

yeah well
we might be dying but at least we come back in a day or two
derek probably wants you body-guarded so we don't lose you for another month

seriously though
that whole event kind of hit everyone by surprise
he was searching people out.

[ allison's eyes still get a little dark when she thinks about that whole event. about lydia losing her voice, about isaac keeping her inside. it leaves a bad taste in her mouth, but what is she going to do? nothing, now that it's passed, but it makes her restless all the same. ]

Death is still death. I don't care. Derek needs the bodyguard more than me. He's died too many times.

[ and, once, right in front of her. ]

[ cora, herself, had risen from the ashes of her home like a phoenix for derek. she can still see the surprise on his face, even though she had very much lost every slip of control to the touch of the moon. ]

Did someone stop the killer? Did he kill

[ she will say she accidentally hit submit, but cora didn't even want to ellipse her thought. did he kill stiles and derek? if so, cora wanted his name so she could give him a little bit of payback. ]

you can tell your brother that next time he sacrifices himself for everyone
cause he's sure as hell not going to listen to me

[ mostly because it would be hypocritical to a fault coming from her. ]

he's been stopped, yeah
he won't hurt anyone anymore
but for a few days there it was pretty scary

[ casually not mentioning the killing derek and stiles bit... ]

[ don't ever mention the derek and stiles being killed bit. in fact, forget it. ]

I'm pretty sure if Derek stopped sacrificing himself, he wouldn't be Derek. He's so frustrating

[ and cora accidentally clicks send. she didn't mean to begin ranting about derek, but he's such a fucking moron sometimes. how many times must he die before she can't feel the loss of him anymore? ]

[ she sends another: ]

I might kill him myself.

[ that sounds like a great idea. ]

[ and totally not at all because of beacon hills and supernatural stuff. not at all. ]
