[ she's been missing for a month. cora doesn't know it for certain, but she can sense something is different about wonderland. it's the smell, the way the leaves crunched differently beneath her feet when she walked out of the woods earlier that day. she can't quite put her finger on what's different, but she knows that the world she had left behind earlier that morning (five weeks ago) has somehow shifted on its axis. ]

[ however, despite her suspicions, cora's not going to bother with the pleasantries. nor is she going to bother to ask. she doesn't do network posts — doesn't see the purpose in them — but she'd been out for a run in the woods. she'd gone out in hopes of pushing herself out of her negative headspace, but has only seemed to dive further in it. ]

Throw a dog a bone.

Anyone know any good jokes? Could use a couple. My brother doesn't smile much and it'd be nice to see him :) for once.

Or :D if I'm lucky.

[ ha ha. something is off and perhaps it's because derek hale has learnt how to smile. ]

[ that's too many questions — too many that hit quite close to home. ]

Disappeared from Wonderland for a while.

[ and from his life for six years. he'd been gone from hers, too. but being absent from wonderland for a month is a little easier to swallow than the six years they've both been grieving for people who weren't ghosts from the start. ]

Not many good things happen.
Guess, because of that, he lost the muscle function to :)
Wonderland's meant to be wonderful, right?

[ He's sorry to hear that. Although, maybe it wouldn't have necessarily been better for her if she'd stayed home. ]

Not the usual act of disappearing, though. I went out for a run and everything moved on without me.

[ if cora can help it, she doesn't want to reply to the rest. he doesn't owe her any apologies. things happen, shit hits the fan, and families fall apart. as for wonderland, she wants to think that it's a good place, better than beacon hills, but she's starting to wonder if it's just as bad, if not worse. ]

That's strange. Where did you go running?

[ Because it's possible she could've fallen into a rip in time or something like that, although he's guessing it has more to do with Wonderland's odd mechanics and less to do with the timey-wimey. ]

The woods. Always go out there. Every morning. First time I've missed an entire chunk of time.

[ cora thinks it over. she'd run, she'd walked, she'd jogged, and she'd taken a moment to sit down on a tree stump. not once did she fall and hit her head. she figures she'd remember that. ]

No. It was like any other morning. Except it spanned several mornings.
Guess I found some air pocket in Wonderland.

Air pocket? Perhaps, but I rather think you walked into a time pocket.

[ Well, that's not the proper name for it, but the name doesn't matter. The thing itself does. ]

I suppose, but air pocket implies you walked into somewhere with zero gravity, not a crack or rip in time. Or a pocket universe. I wonder if that's where you went. When you disappeared, what exactly did you see?

I didn't fall down another rabbit hole, if that's what you're going to say next. I was just in the woods. It was normal. Like any other day.

[ For some reason, he was expecting something different. And no, he wasn't going to say a word about a rabbit hole. ]

So you got yourself lost for a bit, and then you found your way out again?

I didn't get lost. I was in the woods for what felt like an hour. Somehow I missed weeks.
I didn't fall or bump my head or pass out, before you ask. I was alert for the entire run.

[ He decides to leave the matter of the woods alone for now and moves on to something else.

And he doesn't want anything from her, not really. He's just mulling this over, trying to make sense of it. She just happens to be the unfortunate person caught up in it. ]

And that makes me think that you fell into a place where time moves differently. I wonder if I went into the woods, if I'd find something similar.

Doubt it. I go that path every morning. Nothing is ever different - not until my January somehow morphed into early March.
Or whatever month it really is.

[ her calendar could be lying, after all. ]

[ she's poking just a little bit of fun at him. doctor, ha! that's still not a real name, but he's trying to help her make sense of something she doesn't understand, so she'll let it rest for now. ]

I suppose I don't have any answers, then, not really.

And I think I will give it a try, see if anything comes of it.

[ If nothing else, he'll wind up lost but it'll give him something to do. And yes, yes, make fun of him all you want, Cora. He'll just roll along with it as he usually does with things. ]

Tell someone you're going so, if you do end up spending a day in the woods and it's really a year, someone can at least tell you it worked.

Generally works better if you tell the person the day you're planning to disappear.

[ you know, in case anyone asks her specific questions like when did you last hear from him? when did he leave?. but cora finds herself taking on the responsibility, the hypothetical responsibility, anyway. ]

Does it really? Because I was thinking it works just the same if you tell anyone at all, whether it's the day of the thing or not. ]

[ Not like he's really planning on disappearing, but it's good to have a contingency plan. ]

And what if I disappeared while you disappeared? Better to tell someone who is still there the morning of your disappearance. Otherwise, every day they don't see you, they're going to wonder if you've gone to disappear. It makes people worry.

[ now she's just talking crazy, speaking of disappearing on purpose vs disappearing by accident. ]

Then they'd be left guessing, wouldn't they? And that wouldn't be good. Which is why I suppose I should have a talk with Martha in case anything happens.
