001 ☆ video
[When the video feed starts up, it shows a man seated at a desk in a rather nondescript room. Not much can be seen behind him beyond a bed and closet. Much more noteworthy is his face, which has a few bruises and a line of stitches extending outward from the corner of his mouth.
Despite that, he has a bright, open look on his face, though the fact that he's sitting up straight and looking head-on at his phone's camera makes it clear that he means business.]
So... had a few days to take everything in, read what information I could find. It's been helpful, it really has. [A lot of the work and investigation had already been done for him, though that hasn't prevented Steve from doing his own exploration.]
Just a few questions, if anyone can help. [And so far, most everyone has been helpful.] I can only assume there's some escape effort that's been put together here. A group of like-minded people, working together to get everyone home. I'd like to be a part of that. [It might seem overly transparent to ask about something like that over a network like this, but Steve has no interest in secrecy, especially not after everything that he's been through.]
Secondly, I've heard a lot about people being from different worlds. I'm trying to get an idea of how many we're dealing with. [He knows about Asgard and has heard vaguely of the Nine Realms, but beyond that he's clueless. He needs to determine the scope of this operation.]
Oh, and the name's Steve Rogers. I'll do whatever I can to get us all out of here. [It's meant mainly as a test to see if anyone here is going to recognize him, or if he actually has some manner of anonymity in this place.
With that said, he offers a small smile and then ends the feed.]

[Private Text]
Sure, I'll let you know if I see him. Are you from Asgard or New Mexico?
[Steve hasn't met anyone who fits into either category (save for Loki, but he's not going there yet), which makes it more troublesome that this person knows so much about him. But it's very possible Thor's told his fair share of stories among friends.]
[Private Text => Private Video]
[When the video replaced the text response, Sif's face filled the screen. She'd been to Earth a small handful of times, and likely came up in the reports on New Mexico. Not to mention the collection of a criminal, Lorelei.]
I am honoured to finally make the acquaintance of one of Thor's new warrior companions. He speaks highly of all of you.
[Private Text => Private Video]
Still, she's a trusted friend of Thor's, so while she may not be someone Steve knows personally, there's no reason that can't change now. He's relieved when her face appears on the screen, if only because it's more personal than texting. Texts may be more convenient, but it doesn't beat seeing someone's face and hearing their voice.]
He speaks highly of you too, Lady Sif. It's nice to finally meet you.
[Though her presence here makes him wonder.] If both you and I are here, I wonder if it won't be too long before Thor shows up too.
[Private Video]
[She nods her head in acceptance of the statement. Of course Thor does, they're his precious companions of old. He has always been an extra. A tag-along. None of his thoughts show through Sif's features. Neither does the inward cringe at the mention of Thor showing up. He certainly hoped not. Thor... Thor thought he was dead. Again.]
If he does or does not, I would like to offer my sword in aid of your cause. I would fight along side fellow warriors and friends. Any friend of Thor is a friend of mine.
[He could choke on those words if he wasn't so skilled at his trade. As it is, he delivers the words without hesitation, though they leave a sour taste in his mouth.]
[Private Video]
He's not all that surprised to hear that she uses a sword. The Asgardians and their culture revolves around battle from what Steve has heard, much like the Spartans, and he doesn't doubt that Sif here is as formidable as the rest of them.]
The feeling is mutual. I'd be honored to have you fighting at my side, whatever this place ends up throwing at us.
[Because he isn't expecting it to remain calm for long.]
Are there any other Asgardians here?
[Private Video]
[Sif offers up something of a friendly smile, which isn't much of a smile, but that's just Sif for you. Well, unless you're Thor. How the buffoon was so blind to her affections, he would never understand. But that is neither here nor there, because neither are here, so...]
You fear this to be hostile land? I have had a similar feeling of this place upon arrival. It is not immediately hostile--the residents seem friendly enough--but there is something very malicious about the energy here.
[She reigns in her reserved expression once more, drawing it into a bit of a frown. Loki isn't only doing this for the simple pleasure of deceiving the Captain. No, he wants out of here as much as the ridiculously spandex-clad superhero does. And honestly, offering to help with his face? Probably won't go over well at all, given their history.]
I have only just arrived here, but I have yet to see another familiar face. Beckoning for Thor, Fandral, Volstagg, and Hogun was a fruitless effort. It was by chance that your appeal to the population caught my attention, as I had resigned myself to being on my own.
[She canted her head to the side with slight interest.] Are there others of your warriors here?
[Oh, Loki knew the answer to that, but he had only seen Romanoff and Rogers. If there were others, he certainly wanted to know. It might turn out that he is stuck in his new guise.]
[Private Video]
There's always a catch.
He doesn't recognize most of the other names that she lists, but Steve can only assume that they are friends of Thor, possibly even members of the Warriors Three that he's heard mentioned. It's something he'd always planned to ask more about, but there hadn't exactly been time for idle chatting when New York had been under siege.]
Well, you know about Agent Romanoff, don't you? You mentioned her in your text message.
[It seems that Sif already has a hang of how to use a phone, despite those not existing on Asgard (or so Steve assumes). He can't imagine how Thor would do with one of these devices. His guess is not well.] Other than you and her, though, I've got nothing. [Save for the other captives here, who he was already starting to get to know.]
[Private Video]
I do. She was beyond my reach of communication when I arrived, only catching a glimpse. I was uncertain if I had merely seen familiar faces where likeness had fooled my mind, but that seems not to be the case. I am pleased you are not alone, though that pleasure may also be a curse, as that means one more companion trapped in a strange realm.
[Why yes, she did learn to use that device rather quickly, though Loki won't mention the secrets behind it. Like that he's been here for a little while longer than Sif claims. Or that it's actually one of Stark's, for some unforeseen reason. It was like Wonderland had been mocking him!]
Thor, myself, and the Warriors Three fought many a battle with our small numbers and came out victorious. I believe we will be plenty for whatever challenges await us. [She offered helpfully.] As I am sure there will undoubtedly be others that strive for the same ends.
[Private Video]
It's true, though, that it's a set of mixed feelings. It might be better off if Steve was here on his own, if only so his teammates weren't dragged into this craziness, but at the same time he knows he has a better chance with them at his side.]
That's what I'm trying to find out now. I think you're right, though. Everyone here's got to want the same thing, so if we can all group together, this place shouldn't stand a chance.
[That's the idea, at least. Things often don't turn out the way they're planned.]
[Private Video]
Indeed. I shall keep watch for Thor or any others from my realm. I will keep you apprised of the situation. Is there anything I can do now to assist you or Agent Romanoff?
[Yes, she was ever the helpful little Asgardian. Justice and lightning bolts for all. She wasn't the hugs and puppies type. He just hoped he could keep up this charade until they were home, or very nearly there. He had every faith in his abilities, it was his worry that someone who knew her better than he caught him in a bit of misinformation. Sif wasn't the type to recant the specifics of her escapades detail for detail. If he missed something somewhere...]
[Private Video]
Well, I've been hearing a lot about magic being used to run this place. Romanoff and I aren't exactly that familiar with magic, but I imagine you would be. Maybe you could look into it, see if you can find anything out?
[He's asking nicely, and he's not expecting anything from her, but it would actually be a big help to have some idea of how Wonderland works.]
[Private Video]
[Her delicate features knit into confusion.]
I will see what I can learn. I am not as skilled in the art as some, but I will do what I can. If that is the key to our escape, we would need the skill of someone far more advanced than I to accomplish anything.
[To be completely honest, without Thor here and being so out of her element, Sif probably wouldn't be too argumentative, at least in Loki's opinion. So he doesn't feel the need to bristle. And if he can figure something out that might help them escape, well, that was a plus. Honestly, if working with America would be this easy, they might actually get out.]
[Private Video]
Well, we'll keep an eye out for someone else who knows their stuff, but for now you're our best bet. [He smiles at her, encouraging, and nods firmly.]
Thank you for all the help, Sif. I'm glad we have someone like you on our side.
[Private Video]
You aided Thor in the capture and return of Loki. It is I who should be thanking you. [She offers up her best attempt at a kind smile. One that isn't sarcastic or snarky.]
I will leave you word in your message device on my findings. If that will be all, I will depart on my mission immediately, Steve Rogers. [She gives the camera a respectful nod.]
[Private Video]
That works for me. I'll keep an eye out for it, thank you. [Yes, he's saying it again. No, you can't stop him.
And with that, he ends the call.]
