001 ☆ video
[When the video feed starts up, it shows a man seated at a desk in a rather nondescript room. Not much can be seen behind him beyond a bed and closet. Much more noteworthy is his face, which has a few bruises and a line of stitches extending outward from the corner of his mouth.
Despite that, he has a bright, open look on his face, though the fact that he's sitting up straight and looking head-on at his phone's camera makes it clear that he means business.]
So... had a few days to take everything in, read what information I could find. It's been helpful, it really has. [A lot of the work and investigation had already been done for him, though that hasn't prevented Steve from doing his own exploration.]
Just a few questions, if anyone can help. [And so far, most everyone has been helpful.] I can only assume there's some escape effort that's been put together here. A group of like-minded people, working together to get everyone home. I'd like to be a part of that. [It might seem overly transparent to ask about something like that over a network like this, but Steve has no interest in secrecy, especially not after everything that he's been through.]
Secondly, I've heard a lot about people being from different worlds. I'm trying to get an idea of how many we're dealing with. [He knows about Asgard and has heard vaguely of the Nine Realms, but beyond that he's clueless. He needs to determine the scope of this operation.]
Oh, and the name's Steve Rogers. I'll do whatever I can to get us all out of here. [It's meant mainly as a test to see if anyone here is going to recognize him, or if he actually has some manner of anonymity in this place.
With that said, he offers a small smile and then ends the feed.]

[That she is aware of anyway.]
I would demonstrate but I can not use it on myself. I can only offer you my assurance that I would not seek to harm you, monsieur.
[Steve really does, she's been nothing but kind so far, and it's not as if he hasn't accepted other offers to experiment on him. If it gets him up and running a little quicker, then he might as well give it a shot.]
If you're willing to give it a try on the wounds I have, then I'd appreciate the help.
[As forward as it feels inviting him there. It's better if there is no one to distract her. Or be hurt if things do go wrong.]
He can already imagine the way Natasha would tease him over this, if she found out about it. Going to visit a girl's room? How scandalous.]
Your room should be fine... if you don't mind. What floor is it on?
[Because questions like what that is from can wait until she sees him in person, she supposes.]
I shall wait for you in the hallway.
[Fully clothed so everyone might see there is no impropriety.]
[Video] → [Action]
[With that, Steve ends the call. He's got to make it from the seventh floor to the third, but going down the stairs isn't as much of a strain on him as going up. If he has to use the railing a little on his way down, well, at least there's no one present to witness it.
He starts down the third floor hallway and eventually spots Miss Beaumont waiting outside her door. Steve waves, relieved to be able to see someone in the flesh rather than just on his phone's screen.]
Thank you for this, by the way. It should make life here a lot easier.
[Action]
Sit anywhere. It is no trouble to attempt this...but I will apologize in advance if it does not work. I am never certain what a Psalm will agree to do for me. They have minds of their own.
[But never the less she looks hopeful, fingers twining in the rosary beads around her neck as she sits across from him]
[Action]
She's not exactly inspiring him with confidence about all this, though.]
... You're sure this is safe? [Because it's sounding to him like he might end up worse off if Miss Beaumont doesn't even know what her own powers will do.]
[Action]
[A morbid thought she's coming to accept. But she pats his leg encouragingly.]
Only hold still. Do not touch me unless I ask you to do so.
[And she ducks her head. Her hands hover over his face but do not touch, and her eyes are shut as she whispers. The Ninth Psalm, and she seems familiar enough with the words. Once again glowing text appears on her skin, in French. On her face first, down her throat and chest, finally appearing on her fingertips and flowing into him.
The words don't hurt, exactly. It's like the sensation of electricity. Faintly warm and buzzing, tingling as flesh knits together and stitches dissolve away.]
[Action]
He remains still and watches as she performs the process from earlier, though with a different psalm this time around. He tries to pick out some of the words on her skin, but it all happens too quickly, and soon enough he's treated to the odd sensation of his skin fusing back together at an alarming rate.
Just as she'd promised, there's no real pain with it, and once she's done he glances down at himself, sliding a palm over his shoulder and side. Much better.]
... Wow. Thank you. You're gonna be really popular around here with a skill like that.
[Action]
[But Lia looks tired. Paler and drawn, even as she looks up and brushes her hair back out of her face.]
It...does not work for everyone or every time. Only those worth saving. Only those with a good heart.
[Action]
Hey, you should have warned me that it took a toll on you. [He probably wouldn't have agreed to it if he'd known that.
It's good to know he's worth saving, but he doesn't like people doing things for him at their expense. There isn't much he can do about it now, though, except keep in mind that he definitely owes her one.]
[Action]
[She bats at him, ineffective as a kitten though she does at least sit in a rustling of her skirts, gaze shifting to survey the work the Psalm has done.]
How do you feel? Whole? No verse lingering in your blood?
[Action]
[Steve frowns, wondering what that's supposed to mean or what it would even feel like. Whatever it may be, he doesn't think he has it. In fact, he feels pretty great and so he shakes his head at her.]
I feel good as new. Thank you. [Clearly he shouldn't have doubted her.] You should get some rest, though.
[She's been through worse, she says. Steve wonders how true that is, what sort of trials she's endured. But it would be impolite to ask.]
[Action]
[Good enough for her. She touches the rosary around her neck again, a clear habit at she lifts her gaze to look at him more properly and check her work.]
You seem a very kind man, monsieur. I would hate to repay your kindness to me by making you worry.
[Action]
Worrying is kind of my thing. It's all right. If anything, I owe you one. Any time you need help with anything, you can give me a call.
[Somehow, he gets the feeling that Lia isn't going to take him up on that, which just means that he's going to have to watch out for her. The list of people he wants to keep an eye on is only growing, but he knew that would happen.]
Anyway, I'll let you rest. Thank you again, Miss Beaumont.
