001 ☆ video
[When the video feed starts up, it shows a man seated at a desk in a rather nondescript room. Not much can be seen behind him beyond a bed and closet. Much more noteworthy is his face, which has a few bruises and a line of stitches extending outward from the corner of his mouth.
Despite that, he has a bright, open look on his face, though the fact that he's sitting up straight and looking head-on at his phone's camera makes it clear that he means business.]
So... had a few days to take everything in, read what information I could find. It's been helpful, it really has. [A lot of the work and investigation had already been done for him, though that hasn't prevented Steve from doing his own exploration.]
Just a few questions, if anyone can help. [And so far, most everyone has been helpful.] I can only assume there's some escape effort that's been put together here. A group of like-minded people, working together to get everyone home. I'd like to be a part of that. [It might seem overly transparent to ask about something like that over a network like this, but Steve has no interest in secrecy, especially not after everything that he's been through.]
Secondly, I've heard a lot about people being from different worlds. I'm trying to get an idea of how many we're dealing with. [He knows about Asgard and has heard vaguely of the Nine Realms, but beyond that he's clueless. He needs to determine the scope of this operation.]
Oh, and the name's Steve Rogers. I'll do whatever I can to get us all out of here. [It's meant mainly as a test to see if anyone here is going to recognize him, or if he actually has some manner of anonymity in this place.
With that said, he offers a small smile and then ends the feed.]

[And not just because she vehemently refuses to watch something called Jurassic Park.]
video
[Steve feels you there, Evelyn. He feels you so hard. Although he would probably be more than happy to sit down with a bowl of popcorn and some Jurassic Park.]
If you ever feel like brushing up, though, I wouldn't mind catching a movie with you.
[He is actually being completely genuine with her, and not trying to flirt. He's already noticed the ring, after all.]
video
(Her first year in Wonderland was difficult, trying to adjust to new technologies and critics of whatever style of clothing she happened to be wearing.)]
Thank you, [she says, and means it.] I would love that, I really would. I'm interested to see what your favourites are.
video
[Should he be wasting time that he could put toward trying to find a way out doing something like this? Well, Steve doesn't consider it a waste, and it's already been made pretty clear that they're in for the long haul.
If he can enjoy himself and make someone else's day a little better in the process, then he doesn't see the harm in that. Evelyn strikes him as someone worth getting to know a little better.]
video
[Evelyn reminds him, because...well, as nice as it is to be assisted by an early twentieth century peer, she wishes she could contribute in some way. The usual 'let me tell you about Wonderland' tends to get old, and ofttimes people enjoy finding out more about it by themselves.]
video
[Steve doesn't like to rely on people for help, so it's not due to any sort of judgment about Evelyn that he brushes off the offer. He still thinks that he owes her, and if the only way he can pay back her kindness is through a movie watching session, then so be it.]
video
[Evelyn waves a dismissive hand. She knows he's being polite - his upbringing shows in his demeanor.]
I've been here for ages, I like to help. Besides, I may call upon you for music suggestions the next time I hold a holiday party.
video
[Steve's not being entirely serious about it. He can pick up on the fact that Evelyn doesn't put as much importance into her actions as he does. That doesn't mean he'll forget her kindness, though.]
Holidays are still a long way off, though, right? [Last he checked, it was April.]
video
Your Independence Day is coming up in the summer, isn't it? Just because I'm English doesn't mean we're all sore about the Revolutionary War.
video
You're right about that. Actually...
[Should he even let onto this? There's probably no harm in it. What are the chances she'll even remember a couple months from now?] That's my birthday, too.
video
[That seems...almost impossibly patriotic, but somehow it suits him. When it becomes apparent that Steve is not, in fact, making light of his country's most famous national holiday, she has to let out a short laugh.]
I can't guarantee a decent cake with my baking skills, but I'm sure I know someone who can.
video (sorry for delay, back from hiatus!)
[It's not her concern. It's not anyone's concern but Steve's, really. If he's still here by then, he'll worry about it. Otherwise, there doesn't seem to be much point.
He wouldn't be surprised if Natasha tried to do something for him, though.]
Anyway, we'll see what happens. That's still a few months off.
no problem-o!
[It doesn't sound like a question, nor does it sound like a suggestion. It is a fact. Steve is one of the only people from a more familiar time and era, one that she misses desperately, and if he is amenable to spending time together then it is law.]
no subject
I'll look forward to it, then. Thank you again, Evelyn.
[With a smile, Steve ends the feed.]
