[Castiel very rarely makes use of the network, but now he's had some time to evaluate what's taking place here and given the epidemic that's taken over the mansion since yesterday, he's got no choice but to say something.

Is this his fault, or Dean's, or Sam's? There's no way to be certain, but Castiel chooses to take the initiative with issuing an explanation. He would rather the others didn't draw attention to themselves.

He's seated in a room (the room Dean once occupied, which Castiel mainly uses for storage), cross-legged on the floor, with a burger in one hand. The area around him is scattered with wrappers, so it's clear this isn't his first one.]

This event is one that belongs to my world. [He takes a bite of the burger and keeps talking around the food.] We're all being influenced by Famine. He is...

[He pauses, his expression slowly shifting to one of confusion as he stares toward the ceiling, searching for a word that isn't there. He'd felt disoriented early yesterday morning. Something was taken.]

He's a powerful demon that's able to inspire Famine in any creature. This can manifest in a number of different ways. [His is actually rather mundane.]

Anything you may crave, any addiction you may have, it will be pushed to an extreme level. If you suspect that you could become dangerous, I would advise that you have someone restrain you to save you from yourself. [Not that it had worked with Sam the first time around.

Castiel takes another bite of the burger, finishing it off in one go. He doesn't seem to care that he's talking with his mouth full.] If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

[With that, he ends the feed and then sends a text message to Sam Winchester:] Where are you?

Kind of convenient that we all end up here from different points in time, don't you think? Some of us-- [ Meaning, her. ] --even before shit really hits the fan.

And you see that as an advantage?

[Castiel imagines that Ruby's mainly all talk and no action, that she's doing what she can to unnerve them, but what is she actually capable of?

He isn't about to underestimate her, but he doesn't plan to fall for her tricks either.]

Hello? Getting the entire playbook before the game even starts? Yeah, I think that counts as a cheat sheet.

[ Which is pretty open for an enemy, right? ]

Wouldn't it be nice if good ol' Sam didn't have to go through so much pain? Maybe even Dean if he's lucky.

[ Okay, so she won't pretend she likes him, at least. ]

[So that's her plan. It might have even been a good one, if it weren't for one simple fact. The very thing that Castiel himself has been fighting against ever since he came here.]

That might help you, if anyone retained their memories after they left this place.

[But they don't. Castiel's determined to find a way to make that happen, but if he did he certainly wouldn't share it with the likes of Ruby.]

[ Luckily for Ruby, it's not the first time she's heard it. If anything, she looks bored with the admission. ]

Right, one little bump in the road. But, you know what else I hear? People come back and they don't always get wiped clean.

[ She shrugs. ]

What's that sound like to you?

But that's only when they return. For the period of time that they've returned home, they still don't remember.

[Ruby makes a good point. There's proof that the memories aren't taken for good, only repressed, and that's something they could possibly take advantage of.

But that only works if they actually remember that they've forgotten something in the first place.]

Not remembering isn't the same thing as forgetting, Tailfeathers.

[ Now they're starting to be on the same wavelength. ]

We've just got to stop the switch from getting, well, switched before anyone gets whisked away.

That's what I've been attempting to do since I arrived here.

[Castiel isn't all that pleased to hear that Ruby has the same plan, but it's the natural thing for anyone who's trapped here to aim for.]

As you may have noticed, research and investigation opportunities in Wonderland are limited.

Isn't there a saying about "two heads being better than one"? 'course that depends on who they belong to...

If I was going to work with anyone on this, it wouldn't be you.

Oh no, of course not. Nothing quite like having friends in low places.

[ She narrows her eyes slightly. ]

Kind of telling that the demon is the one who's willing to bridge the gap for the Greater Good, isn't it? Or something like that.

For your greater good, you mean.

[Castiel doesn't want Ruby returning home with any inside information, thank you very much. She would absolutely use that against the Winchesters.]

You might want to speak to Crowley. He seems to have a similar outlook.

[He says it as a test. He's fairly certain those two aren't fond of each other.]

[ That's an understatement...Ruby has plenty of reasons not to like him, the main one is that he clearly has no problem usurping Lucifer, which doesn't fall in to her ultimate goals. Of course, she has to play the part of not being a sympathizer. It's a fine line to walk. But demons aren't usually overly fond of other demons regardless of the circumstances. ]

You know, I don't think he likes me very much. Going to put in a good word for me or do I need to talk to a priest?

I have no interest in building bridges between demons.

[Ruby's going to have a hard time finding anyone who wants to work with her in earnest, and Castiel would rather it stay that way.]

[ Except for Sam, who is really the one she wants. ]

Or maybe he's already got his fingers in the cookie jar.

[ Are YOU working with him? ]

[That earns her Castiel's trademark head tilt.]

I think that he prefers scotch.

You're drinking buddies? That's cute.

[Castiel rolls his eyes.]

Hardly.

Apparently you don't mind getting cozy with some demons.

[ Partly an insult and partly a curiosity if he's going to affirm or deny the statement. ]

[How much does she know? Castiel narrows his eyes. He has hardly been a friend to Crowley here, so...]

If you're referring to Meg, she's gone. It's a moot point.

[ Not nearly enough, since people are wisely careful at not filling in all the gaps. Fortunately for Ruby, she's always been rather good at worming her way in places she needs to be and getting the information she wants. Sometimes in sheer pride or ignorance people provide her with useful info, Winchesters especially. Nothing like letting the need to gloat override being mindful of what you say. ]

Is it? Or do I just rub you in all the wrong places?

[ Or right ones. ]

[The fact is, Castiel's near-friendship with Meg is hardly a secret, and he doesn't see what Ruby would gain from knowing of it, especially since Meg's gone from this place.

The fact that Ruby taunts him in a way that's an odd imitation of Meg herself definitely does rub him in all the wrong places, though.

He glares at her, and then without another word he ends the feed.]
