[The feed is initially dark and grainy, showing not a whole lot of anything, though there is sound. Specifically, the sound of someone taking a few steps, tripping, and falling over with a surprised sound that's not quite dignified.]

Ow...

[As the unfortunate new comer starts to right himself, his hand jostles against the device and closes around it automatically. The camera angle changes as the device is turned over, inspected, and then a very surprised and confused face appears on the feed.

Kaneki is pretty average looking, except for the eye patch. Right now, he's a bit scuffed, dusty, and what little can be seen in the faint light from the screen shows he's in the caves. He fumbles the device for a moment before he manages to hold it steady.]

Er... I think I'm in a hole...somehow. I don't know if there's anyone around or if I have reception at all but if there is someone...

[He offers a smile that's equal parts embarrassed, apologetic, and nervous, rubbing the back of his head with his free hand. Actually, maybe he's more nervous than the other two.]

I could use a hand, if there is.

I appreciate it. I don't have any idea where I am, though, so I'm not sure what directions to give you.

Oh um...can you tilt the thing up? I can maybe find it from that?

[Kaneki glances upward, then tilts the camera, panning around himself. His vision is actually a bit better than the camera is in the dark, but the camera shows a dim, grainy feed of the inside of a cave.]

Does that help at all?

[Marco looks closely at the video as it records around his location. Okay...he remembers something like this place while he was wandering the grounds. With a quick nod he speaks.]

Yes, actually. I will be right there!

[He needs to help this man out, clearly. Going to the closest he asks for some rope before he runs off to the location. After getting a little lost he arrives. In the cave he walks carefully.]

Hey! Are you here?

((If not okay let me know!))

[Kaneki's surprised by how positive this guy seems. This series of tunnels and caves seemed bigger than that--then again, maybe that means he was heading toward the entrance in the first place and that it might not be too far away now.]

Y-yeah! I can hear you!

[He straightens up and backs up, trying to peer out of the hole, though there's no chance of that happening.]

[He had gotten a little lost himself...so that helped, maybe? When hears the voice he starts to focus on the ground until he finds the hole.

Offering a smile he waves before he knots the rope and tosses one end down.]

Here!

[Kaneki manages to not get whacked on the head and he takes hold of the rope hanging down in front of him. He's pretty sure he's strong enough to haul himself up a rope, even if he couldn't climb out without it.]

Got it! Hang on.

[He starts out a bit slow until he's figured out how to go about the process, using the side of the hole and the rope both to haul himself upward.]

[Marco braces himself with an even footing. He's got strength from the cadet training at least so this was helpful. He holds tight as he feels the weight on the other end.]

Got it!

[Beginning to back up he helps to pull the other up.]

[Fortunately, Kaneki's on the small side as far as nearly grown men go.

When he does reach the top, he just rolls onto his back and lays on the ground for a minute, catching his breath. It was easier than he'd expected, and it's more because he's relieved than because he's overexerted himself.

After a few seconds, he turns his head to look over at Marco.]

Thanks. I couldn't have done that on my own.

[It was a good thing he was small enough for this. If it had been someone Reiner's size he might have a lot more trouble.

Once he's up Marco lets out a loud sigh before he bends over to look the guy over. He wants to make sure the other wasn't broken in any kind of way.

Being looked at he just chuckles softly.]

No problem...are you okay?

[Kaneki nods and sits up. Other than being a little dirty and the eye patch, he's in remarkably good shape considering that was a pretty deep hole.]

I'm alright, except for being kind of confused about all of this. [He smiles and rubs the back of his head with one hand.] Hopefully, that will pass after awhile.

[Marco is pretty darn impressed by how sturdy the guy is. Most would at least have broke something...]

That's good! It's amazing you aren't hurt. Well...did you just arrive here too?

[A pause.]

I'm Marco, by the way.

Oh! I'm Kaneki Ken. It sounds like we're both new here.

Nice to meet you, Kaneki. Yeah, seems like it, huh?

How did you even end up in the hole?

When I got here, I was right next to it, I guess. I couldn't see much and I fell in right away.

[It was not his finest moment. On the other hand, he's had worse moments, so he's not going to linger on it.

He gets to his feet, brushing himself off. It's still pretty dark, so he's not sure how much good it's doing.]

Do you remember the way out?

Oh wow, that's not good! At least you are unharmed.

[It wasn't good but bot as bad as it could have turned out. He was able to help the man so the positives, right?

Standing up straight he looks to Kaneki before looking to the direction he originally came from.]

It should be this way!

[Kaneki nods, smiling a little. He'll follow Marco out.]

It's a relief that there are other people here. I worried for a little while that it was just me.

[Walking beside him he offers a reassuring smile.]

Nope seems there are tons of people here from loads of different worlds!

Different worlds...?

It's confusing but yeah...seems we can come from different times and worlds.

[That could be promising. He's still going to play his cards close to the vest, but a slip up might not mean being slaughtered.]

I wonder how that's possible.

[He doesn't expect any answers on that one.]

I was told it's called Wonderland. Like the book.

[Marco wouldn't hurt anyone here but he does have to wonder about the possibilities here.]

I am not sure... it's way more advanced than my home.

Yeah, not sure about the book but it is called wonderland!

Um...dangerous? I'm in the military, We have walls that protect us from these creatures called titans that eat humans. They are giant and out walls are 50 meters tall.

[...Eat humans huh.

Okay, maybe sharing he's a ghoul is still a really bad idea.]
