006 ⇏ video
[ when the feed comes up, it catches what sounds like a laugh already in progress, and the bottom half of a face. as it comes into view, someone seems to be righting the camera, before allison eventually turns her attention away from whatever she'd be grinning to off-screen and looks towards the camera. she opens her mouth to talk, but before she can get the words out another voice comes from off the screen. ]
Dude, have you ever seen Monty Python? Killer bunnies with big nasty fangs [ what you can’t see is stiles attempting to make bunny fangs with his teeth, but you can definitely hear his “arrghhrarrgh” in what is clearly a killer bunny noise. ]
[ allison's eyes follow the voice, laughing again. ] You're kidding me, right? You want to put the Easter bunny in this? [ another shake of her head and then she more pointedly looks back to the screen. ] Sorry, someone is-
--Very prepared and always right. [ he at least sounds a little cheeky. it’s a joke. really. sort of. ] And it’s not the Easter bunny!
Yeah okay. Anyway, for those of you we don't know, I'm Allison. Stiles here- [ eyes motioning off the screen and then they're back. ] and I are trying to put together a book. A beastiary, if you know what those are, of as many creatures - supernatural or not - that could potentially show up here.
And that totally includes the people of Wonderland who go bump in the night, I’m just sayin. What’s kosher for my creature of the night may not be kosher for yours.
[ she continues like she didn't hear him. ] If you don't already know, Wonderland likes to throw events at us from the worlds of people here. Sometimes they're fine, sometimes they're not, and-
-And sometimes they end in blood and gore! We haven’t had one of those in a while, I wonder--
Stiles, you can talk later! Let me finish! [ she laughing, though, so it's pretty obvious that stiles' interruptions aren't really bothering her. ] Sometimes they can be really dangerous, and in order to help everyone protect themselves, we figured collecting the information would help. Just to get it out there for people to know if they want to know, and if they don't, that's fine too.
Help a brother out, basically. [ a beat, and stiles pokes into the screen from an awkward angle, all button nose and spotted cheeks before he grins and jerks his head in allison’s direction. ] Or a sister. [ and then disappears from the feed again. ]
[ allison takes her hand back - having shoved stiles out of the frame in the first place - and resets the camera. ] We’ve done this before, so we have a good list started from a few worlds, but if there’s one thing we’ve learned is that even if the lore is in different worlds, a lot of the time the details aren’t the same. For example, take-
--Aaaany form of the supernatural! At all. Anywhere. Oookay, that’s the end of that, no more of that feed. [ #smooth ] Bye!
What? No, Stiles- [ the device is then forcefully plucked from allison’s hands, muffled sounds of a struggle, and then it shuts off. ]
[ ooc both stiles and allison are open for replies! ]

video;
[ Philip stops himself, but his hesitation doesn't last. None of the personal information in John Winchester's journal made it into his folder, and the thought that he could be breaking confidentiality here is fleeting at best. ]
I actually did something similar a few years back, I've still got the notes, if you want me to drop them off somewhere.
video;
her eyes widen when he mentions notes. already done up, organized. she smiles, relieved. ]
That would be awesome, actually. We're in the Library, which is- [ she looks up, confirming something before her eyes come back. ] On the third floor today. If you can? If not I can come find you, too.
video ==> action;
[ Not thinking there is much he could add over video, Philip quickly switches off the feed, and goes through his bookshelves to find the old notes in question, and head out right away.
He shows up as promised, barely ten minutes later, lugging a massively thick heavy duty binder under his arm, glancing around between the library shelves for the familiar face he saw on the feed earlier. ]
action;
he'll have to excuse the slightly hungry eyes she makes at the binder. ]
Hey- is that everything?
action;
That is--
[ The library table quivers pitifully under the weight the binder, as Philip unceremoniously lugs it onto its surface. A torn piece of paper slips out from somewhere between the pages. Philip crumbles it up, and pockets it in a hurry. ]
--everything. Mind, a good deal of it is probably rubbish, because-- err, do you want the quick tour, or should I just let you browse it by yourself?
action;
A tour would be awesome, if you have time?
rambly action;
No problem. I put it all together two, three years ago, the foundation was-- I don't know if you've met them, Dean and Sam Winchester? Well, if you have then you'll know that their world is a- a virtual bucket full of creatures, and, erm, he-- Dean, he had a database of his own, of sorts, so those were the myths I catalogued first. You'll see--
[ He lets her get another glance at the table of contents, before turning a chunk of pages. He flips a few more, stopping when he reaches 7.8.1. Wendigo. ]
You'll see that there's often a primary description, which would be all the information from their world, and... and given that they're both still here, along with a number of others from the same universe, erm, I'd wager it's safe to say that those descriptions -- powers, appearance, what to stab it with and so on -- are, er, or rather could become relevant enough. As for the rest--
[ Five pages forward, to 7.8.5.Rakshasa, another sub-heading. ]
It's just about anything else I could find, different mythologies, um, Hindu, Greek, Egyptian, Inuit, uh... Maori, and so on. Mind, you'll actually find little to no cultural information in the folder itself, at the time this was all geared more towards "what is it, what can it do, and how can I stop it from doing that", so-- I did-- I mean, I have quoted all my sources, so it should be easy enough to backtrack, if you're looking to read more in a different direction, but, uh...
[ He turns to the next page absent-mindedly, and huffs a quietly embarrassed laugh when it shows the solemn heading 8.1.1 Killer Tomatoes, detailed sketch included. ]
Errr, right, this-- This is probably something to watch out for, because, erm, well, it is clearly marked as such in the notes, granted, but you'll find a lot of myths, tropes, the stuff from popcorn movies, that sort of thing, I...
[ Philip scratches the back of his head, looking at Allison a little sheepishly. ]
I want to say that I've got an excellent scientific reason for all that, but the truth is that I mostly just had too much time on my hands, and wanted to play a bit of a joke on-- [ He swallows. ] --on the people I wrote it for, back then. Although! Although I've got to say, we've since had one- at least one event that involved some form of movies and movie clichés coming to life, so as long as somebody here knows about it, it might not be for nothing, no matter how ridiculous.
[ He flips through the rest of the binder, several pages at a time, until he reaches the appendix. ]
Right! And that about covers that, I think.
