006 ⇏ video

[ when the feed comes up, it catches what sounds like a laugh already in progress, and the bottom half of a face. as it comes into view, someone seems to be righting the camera, before allison eventually turns her attention away from whatever she'd be grinning to off-screen and looks towards the camera. she opens her mouth to talk, but before she can get the words out another voice comes from off the screen. ]

Dude, have you ever seen Monty Python? Killer bunnies with big nasty fangs [ what you can’t see is stiles attempting to make bunny fangs with his teeth, but you can definitely hear his “arrghhrarrgh” in what is clearly a killer bunny noise. ]

[ allison's eyes follow the voice, laughing again. ] You're kidding me, right? You want to put the Easter bunny in this? [ another shake of her head and then she more pointedly looks back to the screen. ] Sorry, someone is-

--Very prepared and always right. [ he at least sounds a little cheeky. it’s a joke. really. sort of. ] And it’s not the Easter bunny!

Yeah okay. Anyway, for those of you we don't know, I'm Allison. Stiles here- [ eyes motioning off the screen and then they're back. ] and I are trying to put together a book. A beastiary, if you know what those are, of as many creatures - supernatural or not - that could potentially show up here.

And that totally includes the people of Wonderland who go bump in the night, I’m just sayin. What’s kosher for my creature of the night may not be kosher for yours.

[ she continues like she didn't hear him. ] If you don't already know, Wonderland likes to throw events at us from the worlds of people here. Sometimes they're fine, sometimes they're not, and-

-And sometimes they end in blood and gore! We haven’t had one of those in a while, I wonder--

Stiles, you can talk later! Let me finish! [ she laughing, though, so it's pretty obvious that stiles' interruptions aren't really bothering her. ] Sometimes they can be really dangerous, and in order to help everyone protect themselves, we figured collecting the information would help. Just to get it out there for people to know if they want to know, and if they don't, that's fine too.

Help a brother out, basically. [ a beat, and stiles pokes into the screen from an awkward angle, all button nose and spotted cheeks before he grins and jerks his head in allison’s direction. ] Or a sister. [ and then disappears from the feed again. ]

[ allison takes her hand back - having shoved stiles out of the frame in the first place - and resets the camera. ] We’ve done this before, so we have a good list started from a few worlds, but if there’s one thing we’ve learned is that even if the lore is in different worlds, a lot of the time the details aren’t the same. For example, take-

--Aaaany form of the supernatural! At all. Anywhere. Oookay, that’s the end of that, no more of that feed. [ #smooth ] Bye!

What? No, Stiles- [ the device is then forcefully plucked from allison’s hands, muffled sounds of a struggle, and then it shuts off. ]

[ ooc both stiles and allison are open for replies! ]

[ despite it being somewhat comforting, she still approaches the topic with skepticism. it's only natural she takes to it with pessimism, knowing if she were to offer any intricate knowledge of werewolves it may flag the suspicions of someone who isn't allison or stiles. it still makes her weary, and not for the reasons another may find themselves outed. ]

The last thing I need is a bunch of hunters on my doorstep. [ again, she doesn't say. it's a minor confession she doesn't even admit to herself, her fear of hunters and their persistence to see her burn. but she speaks of it as though she's talking of the weather and not of how she had lost her entire family within a blink of an eye. ] Maybe you should consider adding a section dedicated to them. [ so cora can use it, basically. treat them like they're a bunch of things to fear, too. ]

[ even though she believes it to be reassuring, cora finds none in the faith allson clearly has in the hunters roaming wonderland. she's willing to make an exception for allison, but as for all the others, she expects the worst from them. she hadn't been prepared with the possible moment where her own family would be stolen from her by their hands. hunters have given her no reason to trust them, so she doesn't. they're the enemy; she will never forget she owes them payback. ]

[ cora doesn't look as though she believes her, eyebrow arched slightly. but she bites the words down. ] They're — [ animals. ] Why should I be on that bestiary but not them? [ unless stiles and allison view her as some animal first, friend second. that's a concern she never predicted she would have. ]

So can wolves. [ can die. can burn like normal people. cora knows she's not normal, but to think of herself as worthy of being documented while those who had taken her family from her aren't causes her hackles to rise and the fight within her to stir. ]

[ cora sincerely doubts there's anyone in wonderland who doesn't know what a regular, non-powered person is capable of. but it's a concession she's not going to fling back and claim isn't good enough. where others would opt to tell her to go chase her tail, that those non-powered people aren't threats, allison acknowledges it. it'd been her aunt that had robbed her of her family. cora doesn't doubt there could be a sense of wanting to make up for it hidden in her leniency. ]

A bestiary should include everyone. [ from those who merely need air to survive to those who are predators, animals wearing human skin in its most black and white form. being a werewolf is normal for her. ] And the Wonderland characters. A lot of people don't know they are fictional characters in a book.

[ cora doesn't say anything in reply. it's useless to even utter a thanks, or even a that's good. the reassurance is in her not picking it apart and deeming it not good enough. a census means everyone's treated fairly, a bestiary almost highlights those who are different and places a negative connotation on who they really are. she's a werewolf and she's proud, and while she knows — and has experienced — she can get out of control when someone hinders her ability to control herself, she's just as dangerous as a regular person walking down the street. ]

[ it'd be easier if people were smart enough to just ask their closet for all the available versions of the story, but if someone doesn't know it's a literal book they're living in, then how can they be expected to think for themselves? she may not have been here for too much, hearing bits and pieces of a war with the mirrors, having met a few of them several months ago ... information is information, regardless of who it's about. ] We're fighting some war for them. I think people will care when they realise that.
