[When the feed clicked on, Fitz was still in the midst of a panic attack, the young scientist barely able to focus on the device as he fiddled with the settings some, hands trembling.]

Director Coulson? Agent May? Anyone? Please tell me I'm not the only one here.

[Because that's the last thing he needed right now. He didn't want to believe his was happening right now. It just wasn't plausible.

Trying to pull himself together, Fitz set the device down for a moment, scrubbing at his face and letting out a breath. It took a moment for him to get himself together, his hands still trembling but it wasn't near as bad.

Breath in. Breath out.

He could do this.

A little more composed, he picked his device up once more, trying to put on a neutral expression.]

This is Agent Leo Fitz of SHIELD. Can anyone hear me? I'm not sure where I am but if someone...if someone could please contact me....please?

( a faint nod, teeth pulling absently at her bottom lip, as if she's trying and not quite managing to convince herself of this. )

[Don't mind him as he shifts his weight and tucks his hands into his pockets to keep from rubbing them.]

No, no I'm--I'm fine. Just a bit thrown off by all this. Nothing too horrid.

( the reassurance isn't exactly convincing, but kate just attributes it to general nerves. the fear and confusion that comes along with ending up not just somewhere new and unexpected, but here specifically. )

That's normal, I think. As normal as anything else in this place, anyway. If it makes you feel any better though, I haven't stumbled onto the cheshire cat yet.

( a halfhearted smile, because what else can she do? clearly not a full blown member of the welcoming committee. )

It doesn't really make much sense, but that just kind of goes along with everything else here. There's a pamphlet that explains things a little bit better, has anyone shown you that yet?
