[Here's Hayley in a video feed, looking extremely annoyed. This is not how she wanted to continue her day .... at ALL. She tucks a strand of hair behind her ear and with a loud and annoyed sigh, gets right into it so she can get to her point and get out of here. Hopefully. She is in a mood about this -- sorry, Wonderland. Among other things happening back home, she's recently been reunited with her daughter after several months, and she's quite eager to get back home to her.]

Hi. [A beat.] I have no idea who or what I'm addressing, but here goes. I'm Hayley, and I'll be playing the role of Captain Obvious for a second here. Last I checked, I was definitely in New Orleans. This? Is definitely not New Orleans -- I can tell that much already. So, with my role of Captain Obvious now over, who can tell me the quickest way out of this lovely place [ -- yep, that's sarcasm -- ] so I can go back and be with family and friends? [She has yet to discover that most of them are already here, whoops.] Thanks in advance.

Another new-ish arrival, then -- I guess that means you haven't had much time to collect information on how to deal with this place?

Yeah pretty much— [she gives her a somewhat sheepish look but nods in agreement to that] Someone told me there was a brochure near the mansion entrance though that explains things but I'm still kinda skeptical.

Of course they're gonna have brochures, why am I not surprised? Might as well brainwash people from the get go. [She ... might be partially joking, but also serious.] I'm going to be skeptical about those too, so I don't blame you, I'm with you there.

On an unrelated note, this is the sliiiightly embarrassing part when I say I recognize you from home but I'm not sure which doppelganger you are and I don't want to assume the wrong name. I'm sure that's like, the most annoying question a doppelganger can get, but I promise I won't ask again.

Wait, you know me? [well now that's something that catches her off guard because who the hell are you hayley? katherine doesn't recognize her as someone she should know or as another friend of elena.

with having as many enemies as she does, it's always easier to impersonate elena as her default. she doesn't have all the information yet on how well they were acquainted. the initial surprise in her expression soon fades turning into a slight smile] I'm Elena. I'm sorry— were we friends?

Oh, hey Elena. [she gives a small smile.] No, Katherine's the one I encountered back in our world. I was in Mystic Falls for a bit, passed through the town once or twice, stayed a short while. Left and stared working with Katherine in the quest to find my family. Katherine later found me again. [you know, when Katherine stopped thinking she was any use and sent someone to try to kill her.] That's the short version, anyway.

[for someone who apparently knew her instead of elena, that was way too easy but that was what she was counting on with introducing herself as elena because she figured there was no way that hayley would just give her that information otherwise especially if she recall none of that or even meeting her. in keeping up the facade, she nods while she listens to what she's being told] So you're more acquainted with her then.

Did Katherine seriously help with that? It sounds a bit too hard to believe she would do something like that. [which lbr even she knows she wouldn't unless there was something in it for her and helping her with her family sounds like there is a long story behind it which she was curious about since hayley never mentioned that to her when she was here before]

It wasn't out of the kindness of her heart, no. [that sarcasm tho.] She's not about to do shit for free for someone. Sharing a face with her, I'm sure you know her MO better than anyone.

[hayley if only you knew this is katherine you're talking to.....]

Right, of course— there's always a reason with her whenever she does anything. [a pause as she considers how to inquire further] Did you ever find that part out?

not a lot about her long term game really, but Klaus sure had a lot of interest in it, in her. but Klaus is nosy like that so who knows what he wanted from it. I was kind of also trying to make sure he - Klaus - didn't kill a friend -- well, former friend now -- of mine too.

[katherine expected as much with the answer because hey at least the actions of her future self match to what was expecting with the lack of knowledge that hayley seems to have about her motives but on the upside that was more information than she had with the start of this conversation] Klaus alway seems to take an interest in things whenever Katherine is involved so I don't doubt that.

What happened to your friend?

Hybrid who got on the wrong side of Klaus. [No thanks to Hayley either, really, but....] And since we all know what happens to someone who gets on the wrong side of Klaus... he's not dead, but. [he's lucky to have lived this long considering.]
