VIDEO (or action)
[there's a clatter and a shake of the video as it's set down on a teetering column of books. then this strange young man in a ridiculous bow tie stands back and spreads his arms theatrically. as he speaks in an English accent, he waves his hands about]
Helloooooo there, Wonderland! I've a lovely message to impart to whomever happens to be presiding over this mucked up fairytale this time 'round, but I'll save that for later, FIRST!
I'm the Doctor, you may have heard of me. Time traveler, alien, wizard with any tech, I've even got my own magic wand. [he whips out his sonic screwdriver from his inside jacket pocket. it pulses with a green glow and a strange buzz before it switches off and he tucks it away.
his expression sobers seriously] I know you've been trapped here a long while. I know you may be scared, or lost hope, or even accepted your lot in life. Made the most of a pretty prison, because that's what humanity does, makes the most of what they have, no matter how little or how strange.
But now the Doctor is In. And I'm here to help. [he flips back to speaking quickly, excited] I'll be wandering about asking only slightly invasive questions on whatever isn't covered on this LAN network of yours, if you want to drop by and speed up the process of your escape, then please! Give a shout.
[the transmission ends, allowing the Doctor to march about the manor and grounds. you can find him nearly anywhere, waving his "wand" at walls, hedges, and people, muttering to himself, talking to flowers, you know. general sane inspecting activity]

( Because Peggy's all for that )

You can start by answering a few questions. Help me solve a mystery. [he quirks his head to the side, the rakish smile missing only a cheeky wink] Have you lost any memories here, and of what sort? Any strange dreams? Missing desires?
no subject
I haven't had any strange dreams. ( Minus the dream of all of this ) I did once lose all memory of being here. From what I've come to understand this is the second time that I've been in Wonderland, although I have no recollection of being her before.

The future. And all the clocks in Wonderland just happen to be stopped. Very future-steal-y, don't like it. Which makes my next question . . .
[he trips over the words of his mounting pace] Sorry, what's your name?
no subject
Peggy Carter. Is time travelling common where you're from?
( The idea of different times and worlds is still very alien to Peggy, although maybe not as alien as the fact that he said he was an... alien. It still sounds strange to be thinking about and asking )
no subject
[his eyes dart about, casting for a segue from a very unhappy thought]
Here, though. Not exactly helpful when there's no time to travel through. [he makes a frustrated swipe through the air, miming knocking over a stack of books he very much wants to topple] Bit distracting, focusing on the dream bit.
no subject
( She keeps meeting people from her future. It's very odd )
Are the dreams important?
no subject
[he drops the brilliant, whimsical smile for excitement. he does love a mystery]
Not to mention, it's Wonderland. Dreams are what it is. [a beat] Well, not this time. Originally. D'you know the role of the Red King?
no subject
( Even for being in Wonderland. That should have been one of the first things Peggy did but she has had her own preoccupations )
Why isn't this a dream?
( She caught that 'not this time' )
takes a deep breath (I'm so sorry)
I'll go through three possible scenarios, just to be thorough.
One! If this were a shared dream, something siphoning our consciousness into a Wonder-bowl, no power in the universe could overpower my psychic defenses to keep my TARDIS away from me, even if she were useless. Would make me the stylish, flashy hero. Just my style. But. [he lifts a finger] She's not here.
Second. Remember the original Wonderland. It was the creation of a child and her very old friend. Growing up, puberty, questioning the world for the first time--all childlike themes. If this were truly Wonderland, we'd all have a say in the desktop theme, so to speak. It would be a mish-mash of ideas and dreams. This is very much a . . . cheap copy with some added grittiness, as if to make it more popular for the younger crowd.
Don't the other details strike you as odd? Mirrors that act as portals to a backwards Wonderland, wherein lies a shadow of your Self. Very Hero with a Thousand Faces, much too psychological for most to come up with, particularly for every dreamer to agree upon. My friends can hardly decide what flavor tea to have come morning.
applauds
What's the third scenario?
( He is right though - the details are odd. From what she does remember of Alice in Wonderland there certainly weren't any mirrors as portals. The world had been a lot simpler, if still confusing - the creations of a child. If he was right, and his confidence on the matter was making him sound it, then this had to be real. It was very elaborate, and no one would agree on all of these details in a dream )

But then, psychic pollen plays favourites. Goes for the best meal. It would be focusing on the person with the most darkness. [he spreads his arms half-heartedly] Me. And it's not.
keeps you
( Peggy would immediately go with yes considering it seems like this man has just arrived and she's been here two months, with other people saying years )
It couldn't focus on you if you weren't here. ( Give it time, if it does. Except she still has one problem with his certainty on it - on the darkness, not the pollen. She doesn't know enough (anything) about psychic pollen to know if it is true ) And it may have found someone with a greater darkness.
( Whatever this darkness was. Death, sadness? She's met a few people already that would fit those categories )
:D!! enjoys hanging in your pocket
the Doctor glances down and, for once, he leaves it at that. a double-breasted beat, and when he looks to her again, the previous weight has been shifted comfortably to a different shoulder, a different smile]
You've got a point, though, Peggy. If it is psychic pollen, it's not dug its claws into me yet. Could give it time. [he grimaces] Really, really hope it's not, though. I'd hate to make this beautiful land more of a death trap.
slips snacks in
How would it begin? If this were pollen.
( She would also hope not - hope that this land wasn't trying to just kill them. Steve hadn't said anything like it but maybe it hadn't been ready )
nibbles on them like a hamster
As for what I'd do specifically, well. [he ducks his head, wryly staring right into Peggy's eyes. he says slowly, heavily:]
I don't know.

( A frightening dream, and there's a brief wonder as to whether she's ever dreamed of riding elephants. But it does sound dreamlike, and in a way a little familiar )
There has been something. A few weeks ago everyone in the mansion was sent somewhere else - or the mansion changed. Someone said that it was their home. We were there for a few days before being back in the mansion.
( Quick changes as if nothing had happened. Blink and they were there )
no subject
[a corner of his lips twitches with the use of her words. ha]
Was that the zombie nonsense? [he shrugs a shoulder] I read the network.
no subject
( Although on Steve's mission they'd been close at one point - the dead had started coming to them - they'd managed to make it out unscathed. Not bitten or scratched at least. No one died or 'turned' )
They were neither alive nor dead.
no subject
[he sounds emotionally removed because, well. it's zombies. it's interesting. he has no connection to the people involved]
Does the mansion often transform with an uncanny dream-like talent?
no subject
( From someone else rather than the people who's world that was. Sadly there was more than one world with zombies )
It does. It was the first experience of it I had but I've heard that something happens each month. Often in the mansion, but sometimes the whole place changes.
