[ By now, she's already had a relatively thorough look around the mansion and its grounds, investigating and exploring. She's overheard conversations, watched some people from afar, and has the gist of what this place is about. She's pretty sure she has, anyway. Wonderland, it's called. They're all "prisoners", all from different worlds or universes or whatever, blah blah blah, some magic junk, etc. It's only then, when she feels like she understands the situation, that she finally makes an appearance on the network, a wry smile on her face as she broadcasts. ]

So, I've heard this place be referred to as a prison, but you know what? It ain't so bad. I mean, there're rooms for each of us, free food--as much as you can eat--and we're free to come and go as we please. I don't see what's so bad about all that.

[ She kicks her feet up from her sitting position and gives the camera a look. ]

I think I could get used to this, actually. Loads better than anywhere I've ever lived before. Sure, we're trapped here or whatever, but is it really so bad? Could be a lot worse, you know. I'd rather be trapped somewhere comfortable if I'm going to be trapped at all.

[ With that, she shrugs, and cuts the feed. ]

Don't come back the same?

[ Come on, man, you gotta give her more than that! ]

How so?

Like I said, not totally clear. I don't personally know anyone who's died five times, or if I do, they're not admitting it. And as much as I'm always in favor of scientific exploration, I'm pretty willing not to try and find out the hard way.

Yeah, that wouldn't be worth it. But if they don't come back the same, it should be pretty obvious if they've died five times, right?

[ You would think, anyway. ]

Most people don't die often enough to get there. So you have to know them before and then after, and it might not be something super obvious to people who don't know you well. And not everyone wants to talk about it.

Yeah, I guess. You make a fair point. I suppose death is probably traumatizing or whatever, so people don't want to talk about it.

[ Bummer, because she's been getting tempted to just start asking everyone how many times they've died, and what it was like.

...Okay, not really. But it's still interesting as hell to her. ]

It also just... doesn't come up a lot. I mean, people just don't think about it. I don't know about where you're from, but I'm used to people dying once and then being gone.

It's the same where I'm from. But that's why I think it's so cool that you come back here. Guess that's why I'm so interested.

It's better than the alternative. But pretty far from the weirdest thing about this place.

Well yeah, exactly. And I'm aware of that. Magic closets that give you anything you want tend to top just about everything in terms of weirdness.

Oh, we've got weirder stuff than that back home. But have you been to the caves? The rocks are like nothing I've ever seen! And then there are the Mirrors. And the fact that so many worlds are represented.

[ Oh man, nerd alert. ]

The rocks? [ Eyebrow raise. ] Yeah, yeah, the other worlds. Those are sort of cool. But what's that about the mirrors?

They're interesting! [He reddens slightly. Don't judge his nerd life!]

No one's told you about the mirrors? Uh, through them there's this whole other version of Wonderland with a creepy doppelganger version of yourself. And they can watch us through any mirror in the Mansion so be careful what you say in front of them.

Okay, okay! Whatever you say!

[ She doesn't believe him, but holds her free hand up in defence with a smirk. ]

Wait, seriously? There're other versions of us? And they can creep on us? Can we at least do the same to them? Doesn't seem fair, otherwise.

Yeah, surprise, the creepy mirror people don't play fair. [He shakes his head.] Breaking them doesn't help. They fix themselves. But if you keep it covered and play music right near it you can usually get something like privacy.

Or you could, like, not have a mirror in your bedroom or anywhere important.

[ SHRUG. ]

Seems like an easier fix.

[Deadpan:]

Wow. Amazing. How has no one thought of that before.

Hey, you made it sound like it was a real issue, okay? How'm I supposed to know the intelligence level of this place?

[ SHRUG. ]

You could guess you're not the first person to think of trying to move the Mirrors. You can't. You can break them, but they just reform.

Well excuse me, Mr. Sarcasm. It was just a thought. Thanks for the intel, I guess.

[He rolls his eyes.] It's Dipper. Dipper Pines. And I'm just saying, there are people who've been here for five plus years. Things that obvious they've thought of.
