first hunt 🔪 video
Awesome.
[When the camera pans around at first all you see is jeans and boots before he's got it up and focused on his face. Dean flashes the receiver an unimpressed look, whatever this was he didn't want to be in on the joke.]
As far as abduction sequences go, the digs are nice. I'll give you that. Don't get me wrong, I'm flattered, but I so don't do Stockholm.
[Zachariah might want him to sign up and put his body on layaway for the apocalypse but he didn't have any plans to go belly up. As far as he was concerned, there was still a shot, and he'd only consent to Michael if he didn't have any other choice. He was a lot of things, but letting someone else do his dirty work wasn't his style.]
Whatever sick twisted things you had planned, I don't go that way. ...No matter what you've heard.
[Dean takes a minute to scratch the side of his cheek, and then sets his jaw and squares his shoulders. The usual off-the-cuff sarcasm is still as confident as ever, but he's over the showmanship. Broadcasting wasn't his bag.]
And anybody else that wants to feed me another line of crap about mirrors and royalty, don't waste your time. The creep I'm looking for has Fifty Shades of Douche written all over him.

I'm the most qualified individual for the job, actually.
[Said with no pride save for that related to her work, she is abundantly familiar with the way that her time here and her contributions may eventually fade into the background, with the way that he should recognise her, but can't.]
[* - Very assertive.]
video;
There're people here that should know the way out by now, and no offense but my faith in the opinion of someone I barely know isn't gonna top that.
[That might be stating it a little too plainly but it was true. Sam and his dad, no way in hell they'd park it for this long. Or give up that easy. Not unless there really wasn't anything to shoot for. They exhaust all alternatives for a living.]
video;
[Evelyn points out, lofting an eyebrow. Par for the course Dean barrels ahead full-force (which she can't begrudge him, given the circumstances) and demands answers to queries he has yet to pose.]
I don't take offence at all, but if you'd prefer credentials proving the length of my stay I'm afraid you'll have to take my word that I've been here for almost five years, and that I've seen five different versions of you over the course of my stay.
[He might not be the youngest Dean she's ever seen, but it's reaching that point. He might actually be her age now.]
Did you not read the pamphlet?
video;
[Neither was reading, Sam knew that much. Research was more of a divide and let Sam pull all the weight endeavor when it was just the two of them.]
Yeah, I already caught on to the whole rerun thing. That's not really at the top of my questions list.
[Okay, that's a lie, but he's not about to discuss it with some chick he doesn't personally know.]
Gimme the 411 on how many of us are stuck here and why none of the authorities seem to care that they're fucking around with the laws of time and space.
[If there were laws, he can only imagine there had to be. The only guy to ever throw him into the past made it very clear that he shouldn't fuck around. Wonderland seemed to be pushing it.]
video;
[Comes the helpful, informative, and slightly prickly commentary, because the least he could do is acknowledge its existence. (Actually, Evelyn is fairly certain he could do less.)]
But there are approximately one-hundred and ten to one-hundred and thirty residents here at any given time, it...seems to fluctuate in non-uniform ways, I've always tried to keep a census but it often gets a little out of hand. Some people are only here for a handful of weeks. There are trends in which particular worlds seem to be the "popular" one for the month. It becomes cumbersome to keep accurate records.
[Believe her, she's the records keeper, she knows.]
As for the authorities, they're ostensibly non-existent. There is a Duchess who fancies herself the ruler of this side, but she isn't accessible to us, and a Queen on the other side of the mirrors- [See, this is where reading would have helped you, Dean.] -who believes the same thing. Primarily they engage in petty feuds for artefacts of power.
video;
[It's pretty clear to see Dean's had his fill of discussing the way this place works for the day. He's tired, on his last nerve and he doesn't have much patience left. The only thing that's keeping him talking is the fact that this chick knows what she's talking about. People that keep this kind of information at their fingertips are good to keep around and take into consideration. They're the ones responsible for a lot of the legwork when things go to hell in a handbasket.]
so I never got this notif???? wtf I am so sorry
[Ancient and powerful weaponry, the likes of which have never been seen before, or something along those lines. Evelyn has neither the time nor the energy to play pawn in someone else's war, which is why she would much prefer to dedicate herself to less futile pursuits.]
We don't know why we're here, and the fact of the matter is that we probably never will. At best we have a mélange of half-formed theories and hypotheses that have never seen testing. I've got years of paperwork and it remains a daunting task to wrestle the truth out of utter chaos.
[Evelyn didn't need the reminder that concrete answers are few and far between, in spite of her vast collection of knowledge. She softens, but only just. Straining himself to uncover the truth behind an unsolved mystery won't do anyone good.]
You should get some rest. You look terrible.
it's okay i've been dealing with medical stuff so i'm slow anyway
Sounds about right. Things like this don't like to play their hand, and actual documentation always makes things messy.
