first hunt 🔪 video
Awesome.
[When the camera pans around at first all you see is jeans and boots before he's got it up and focused on his face. Dean flashes the receiver an unimpressed look, whatever this was he didn't want to be in on the joke.]
As far as abduction sequences go, the digs are nice. I'll give you that. Don't get me wrong, I'm flattered, but I so don't do Stockholm.
[Zachariah might want him to sign up and put his body on layaway for the apocalypse but he didn't have any plans to go belly up. As far as he was concerned, there was still a shot, and he'd only consent to Michael if he didn't have any other choice. He was a lot of things, but letting someone else do his dirty work wasn't his style.]
Whatever sick twisted things you had planned, I don't go that way. ...No matter what you've heard.
[Dean takes a minute to scratch the side of his cheek, and then sets his jaw and squares his shoulders. The usual off-the-cuff sarcasm is still as confident as ever, but he's over the showmanship. Broadcasting wasn't his bag.]
And anybody else that wants to feed me another line of crap about mirrors and royalty, don't waste your time. The creep I'm looking for has Fifty Shades of Douche written all over him.

Video;
[So far Dean's not aware of anything missing. Everything that should be there, is there, but that doesn't mean something isn't off. Nothing about this place makes sense.]
Video;
[But she can see that's likely not the case. She bristles only slightly, too polite to say anything unless he really provokes her.]
All kinds, I'd think. A hungry monster can't be choosy.
[It can be preferential, though...]
This place does try to keep us comfortable, unless there's some sort of event going on...if that's any sort of consolation.
Video;
[The way people talked about this place made it seem like just any other stop on a map, but it clearly wasn't. There have been a few people with the right ideas on how to welcome new arrivals, but so far none of them take the sting out of what he's already had to deal with.]
And rude's not what I'm going for. I want it straight, none of that gloss over crap. I don't want you to think I don't care about what you have to say, but I also don't want anyone thinking they need to pad the truth. You got me?
[That's as close to an apology as she'll get, because as much as she might be right, Dean's not really a gentle guy. He plays things off, sure, but when it comes to a raw deal like this one he'll take straight shooting over gentle treatment any day.]
Video;
As you wish. In that case, it's my belief that this place has at least some sort of sentient being running it, aside from the players that have shown themselves here and on the -- other, 'Mirror' side. We know that this place takes away our memories, and generates false ones for us to observe. I think it's -- feeding on them.
[She thinks of anything else she'd have liked to know straight away when she came here.]
Aside from that, you should know that death is not permanent in this place. You die, and you come back -- but if you die too many times, there can be -- complications.
Video;
Some of it's new, and a new angle is never a bad thing in his line of work.]
Already heard the bit about death.
[You don't fuck with that kind of force without consequences, Dean's learned that the hard way back home.]
So it comes right back to the mirrors.
[The whole bit about memories is uncomfortable territory for him so he doesn't remark on that part. Just files it away for later. If this place really is absorbing that kind of energy and replacing it with something different it was more dangerous than a lot of other people lead on. It also explained a hell of a lot about his mom.]
Thanks.
Video;
I'd -- recommend covering up any reflective surfaces in your room, if you had any. Or removing them, if you can...I didn't know until recently that those on the other side can observe us through them.
[It was ... unsettling.]
And you are welcome. I'm afraid I don't have as many answers as those who have been here for longer, but as I said -- I know what it's like to arrive here, disoriented and confused.
Video;
[That's how the whole thing played out with Mary before. Anything she could see herself in, and after a panicked phone call, he and Sam wound up shoving the kid in her room in total darkness.
Even though that was years ago it felt like a lifetime. The whole thing seemed like the dark ages now.]
I'll have to keep your number. Just in case I need somebody rational on my team.
[There was no shortage of idiots when it came to a crisis. Someone with experience and patience on their side was always valuable. Dean knew that much. The place has a lot more rational minds, but he could use all the allies he could get just in case things went south sooner than expected. Better to end this on a high note, just in case.]
Video;
And one more thing --
[She purses her lips.]
-- people here might remember things you don't, or not know of things you know of. It has something to do with the time when you were brought here, I'm told -- it can be in someone's past, or in someone's future.
[In case the other things she'd told him hadn't been unsettling enough.]
Video;
Yeah. I noticed.
I'm not sure how anyone can be adjusted to this kind of crazy. The whole transdimensional nightmare thing is a science nerd's wet dream.
Video;
[She hasn't so far run into anyone who's gone completely mad, but she's still not going to rule it out. As for his last sentence, though,]
-- as a mage, I find it interesting as well. There's so many different kinds of magic here, gathered in one place -- it's a lot to take in, even discounting the magic of Wonderland itself.
Video;
[As much as Dean might not want to admit it, he's pretty sure it has something to do with the mirrors or the repercussions of trying. He's not mad, just looking for information and results. There's nothing in his tone besides weariness and frustration. It's not her fault he's here, but he's getting information one way or another.]
Video;
[There's almost certainly a tie-in to the mirrors and the other side, but Bethany isn't exactly on the up-and-up about that.]
Again, the people who've been here longer than me might be of more help.
Video;
[Dean's gonna have to talk to Sam about the numbers of people that have magic or something else on their side. Better safe than sorry. He wants the numbers and specifics. He might not be a college graduate but he knows enough to wrap his head around this whole thing early on.]
Video;
I think that you're right that we would not be able to take this place on single-handedly.
[She's just going to avoid commenting on the other part.]
And I'm sure that if you did ask for the experiences of those who've tried to escape this place, they'd be happy to share with you.
Video;
[Dean doesn't need to push it, his attention has been split three different ways and patience for other conversations have worn thin. He's also got a sense that talking about bailing doesn't sit well with the majority, and he's better off asking someone he knows from home.]
