first hunt 🔪 video
Awesome.
[When the camera pans around at first all you see is jeans and boots before he's got it up and focused on his face. Dean flashes the receiver an unimpressed look, whatever this was he didn't want to be in on the joke.]
As far as abduction sequences go, the digs are nice. I'll give you that. Don't get me wrong, I'm flattered, but I so don't do Stockholm.
[Zachariah might want him to sign up and put his body on layaway for the apocalypse but he didn't have any plans to go belly up. As far as he was concerned, there was still a shot, and he'd only consent to Michael if he didn't have any other choice. He was a lot of things, but letting someone else do his dirty work wasn't his style.]
Whatever sick twisted things you had planned, I don't go that way. ...No matter what you've heard.
[Dean takes a minute to scratch the side of his cheek, and then sets his jaw and squares his shoulders. The usual off-the-cuff sarcasm is still as confident as ever, but he's over the showmanship. Broadcasting wasn't his bag.]
And anybody else that wants to feed me another line of crap about mirrors and royalty, don't waste your time. The creep I'm looking for has Fifty Shades of Douche written all over him.

action;
Want to take a walk? I've got to bring you up to speed.
[ In a big way. In a big, likely painful way. ]
action;
action;
Firs thing's first, though: ]
What's the last thing you remember from home? [ He asks, voice suspiciously light. Dean doesn't look exactly like the old-timer who'd been here last, and Sam hasn't seen either the Mark or a bare arm. So much happens in a single year of their lives... the idea of filling him in on all of it is exhausting.
Maybe he doesn't have to know. Dean's kept secrets from Sam before (big time). Still, that doesn't usually go well for either of them, and this is important. It may mean the difference in how their relationship in Wonderland proceeds. ]
action;
I don't know about you, but I went back to basics after the River Falls incident.
action;
[ That doesn't sound right. Not when that was... years and years ago. Besides, Dean doesn't look that young.
Right? ]
action;
[As much as he needed that kill, Sam mentioning it threw him off. He hasn't thought about their usual hunts for anything else than getting his mind off of shit for a while. They were in too deep. Sam was older, a little more world-weary. That much was obvious. All he had left to do now was wait for him to give him the information he needed. Obviously, there was more than one inconsistency when it came to this place, and Sam was only a piece of the puzzle.]
action;
A lot has happened since then and he's been in Wonderland for three years on top of that, so- ]
Can you just... tell me? [ He asks weakly. ] Enough with the 20 questions. What happened? What were we doing?
action;
We took out a horseman. I figure you're spending your time trying to uh- curb your appetite.
action;
Right. [ The less said about anything demon blood-related, the better. He certainly isn't going to say that he'd had the same problem in Wonderland, once. ] Got it.
[ So... now, it's his turn. ]
I'm from... years after that. [ As Dean has likely guessed, or noticed, at least. ] Like... four years. More or less.
action; so the one thread that didn't give me notifs after dw and gmail got messed >:(
You plan on filling me in? Or just pointing out the obvious.
action; smooches
[ And there's what's happened in Wonderland, too. ]
It's not your responsibility to know about it. You can just go on without.
action; uwu
[Sure, he got why Sam didn't want to explain it to him and maybe if the roles were reversed he'd be the one playing the long game. Dean didn't like being in the dark. Not about home life and not about whatever the hell this was. It meant something, and maybe none of it can really be changed, like the shit with Chuck, but it would still give him an idea of how to handle whatever came next while he was stuck here.]
action;
[ With that, Sam tells him. Tells him about their shared home life up until Dean's own death at Metatron's hands, including all of the details except anything even remotely specific about Sam's own time in Hell. Once that's done, the now-weary Sam goes into everything he remembers of Dean's different stays in Wonderland, which doesn't have quite as much tragedy to it... yet. ]
--Which is why they all responded. You've been here a few times and haven't remembered it every time. You meet people, make friends, and then... leave. Forget about them when you come back. [ Sam shrugs weakly. ] It's disorienting for them and for you, I know.
[ There's a silence, then, hesitant and uncomfortable. ]
... There's something else. [ He mutters, shifting his weight awkwardly. ] After you died at home, the Mark... apparently woke you up again, but as a demon. You and Crowley palled around, I guess, but... then, you showed up in Wonderland. Like that.
[ It's painfully obvious that Sam doesn't want to address this, but... well, his brother asked for full disclosure, so. ]
When you first showed up, you played it off like you were still human. [ Sam says, careful to keep his voice even. ] You got the jump on me and, uh...
[ He scratches briefly at his hand, which is now somehow itchy. ]
You killed me. [ He finishes weakly. ] Kind of... bashed my head in with a hammer.
[ And enjoyed it, apparently. ]
action;
There's nothing he can say, none of it would make a difference. Even if he wanted to find the words he already knows the whole thing is fubar.
He tries to find composure, even goes so far to turn away from Sam and scrub a tired hand over his face but that doesn't do much to soothe the rage boiling under his skin. This is bullshit and no amount of meditation will make what he's feeling go away.
Fuck it. Dean hauls off, punches a hole through the drywall of the mansion. His fist makes a full impact and goes through the wall. When he pulls it free pieces of debris fall with it. He's bleeding, and he probably bruised a few knuckles but it's not like his fingers weren't already sideways and shifted from the brawls he'd been in before. That feels a lot better than dealing with the truth.]
