[It's missing Ash on the pool table and Bobby making weekly phone calls to check in, too, but she tries not to let herself think too much about who's not here. If she thinks about it too long, it starts to eat her up-- she misses them all, especially her mom, and that one is still an especially fresh wound, considering her recent departure.]

'On the house' is kind of the standard around here. I work the bar because I like the routine. Keeps me busy between events. Can't spend all my time in the gym, waiting for something nasty to turn up.

What good did money ever do us back home? I like my pockets lined as much as the next guy, but when you flirt with death as much as we do, it loses its edge.
