[When the broadcast starts, it goes from silence to the immediate noise of two people screaming, punctuated by the sound of laser gunshots and mechanical whirring. It seems the device is on a side-table, giving a flat view of Ford and Alphys… perched on another table. Alphys is curled up, hands over her head, looking incredibly distressed, while Ford seems to be shooting at something off-camera.]

Oh m-my god, oh my god, we’re going to d-die here, I’m so s-sorry, I didn’t know they were all going to start...

Don’t worry! I happen to have excellent aim.

[All of a sudden, something takes a flying leap up onto the table, and Alphys yells as Ford shoots it down. The ensuing shot causes the device to fall over, revealing the floor is absolutely covered in knife wielding box tentacles, some with multiple arms, some with multiple knives, all running over each other and stabbing the floor, themselves, and the table. Alphys is still yelling. Ford is still shooting. It looks like an absolute catastrophe.]

Maybe we shouldn’t have prototyped them with the basic ability to learn--

Well it w-would have been fine if it was just, y-you know, one of them! They weren’t all supposed to turn on at the same time!

[Suddenly, Alphys turns her head and seems to notice the device, turning herself around and reaching out to grab it, bringing it in close to her and Ford.]

Uh, t-this is totally under control! No need to panic! I d-don’t, uhm, know how long this has been broadcasting, but, it’s f-fine! … And m-maybe don’t come to Ford’s room for, uhm, a little bit, for uh. Reasons.

Is that thing on? Uh, I mean-- Yes! Everything is absolutely, 100% under control. There is no need to worry about anythi-- [Ford cuts himself off and hisses.] Watch out, Alphys! I think it just tasted my blood!!

Oh g-god please don’t let that do anything new.

[And the device blinks off, cutting out the mechanical whirring sounds with it.]

It's, uhm, p-probably better nobody comes in here?? If we open the door they might. Uhm. E-Escape.

Are they all that mobile, really? They do not look that mobile.

I really think that you should accept help, though. They seem as if they would be more dangerous in an enclosed space, if anything.

They're k-kind of mobile? They can flip. And I wouldn't w-want anyone to try and get hurt coming to rescue us. There's n-no way they won't get out the door.

So you will just let yourselves get hurt instead, then.

This does not seem like a very good solution.

Well, it w-was our mistake. It wouldn't be good if s-someone else, uhm, had to get hurt because of it.

It does not matter who is getting hurt. It is still a bad thing. But, if you insist, then I suppose I will leave you to it.

I, uh... a-appreciate you worrying about us, though?

[What does she even say to this. She has no idea how to talk to Toriel, lord.]

What Dr. Alphys said! [He's still shooting, holding the communicator with his free hand.] We'll be just fine.

[He shoots another.] Hah! Eat superheated plasma rays.

'Just fine'. Did you not mention something about bleeding?

All I am saying is that if you are trying to burn them, then some fire magic may be able to assist. Though, if you would prefer to handle it yourself, I would at least be willing to heal any cuts you get afterwards.

Oh! You can heal too? Fantastic! I... might take you up on that offer... depending on how deep these knives can go. I may be old but I can sustain a few scratches.

I would be happy to be offer my services. They do look rather dangerous, after all.

...What exactly were you trying to accomplish by building them, anyway?

Ehhh. Nothing, really. We just wanted to build robots. For science, of course. [Because that clearly makes everything reasonable and better and not an actual disaster.]

Robots whose only purpose seems to be uncontrollably swinging a knife around.

[Toriel is... totally judging them right now. She especially gives a pointed look over at Alphys.]

Well. Yes! We were aiming to test robots and their literal motor skills... one at a time. Not... not all at once.

The intention isn't to stab people. Why would I even stab someone? I have a gun.

Yes, I understand that, but I do not see why testing their motors required sticking a knife on the end. [Toriel absolutely does not understand that. Machines are a mystery to her.]

I am not saying that you intended to stab someone. I would dearly hope that were not the case. I am simply saying that it would seem neither of you thought this through very well.

Oh. We put the knives on them for fun. We thought it through completely! Just not in the truly practical sense.

I think that we have very, very different ideas of what 'fun' is. [The amount of judging that Toriel is doing is increasing by the second.]

Of course we do! [Ford does not appear to be ruffled about this judging in the slightest.]

Everyone has their own opinion of what constitutes as pleasant entertainment. For example, I find bad television to be mind-numbing drivel, but apparently it's extremely popular.

That is not really my point! Nobody should find making deadly weapons fun.

I wouldn't say these were actually deadly. I enjoy the craft of inventing. If I invented a cannon that gently ejected pillows, then accidentally turned on fifty of them, we would still have a problem! Especially in an enclosed space.

My point is, everyone likes different things and no one but me has been hurt.
