[ she's been missing for a month. cora doesn't know it for certain, but she can sense something is different about wonderland. it's the smell, the way the leaves crunched differently beneath her feet when she walked out of the woods earlier that day. she can't quite put her finger on what's different, but she knows that the world she had left behind earlier that morning (five weeks ago) has somehow shifted on its axis. ]
[ however, despite her suspicions, cora's not going to bother with the pleasantries. nor is she going to bother to ask. she doesn't do network posts — doesn't see the purpose in them — but she'd been out for a run in the woods. she'd gone out in hopes of pushing herself out of her negative headspace, but has only seemed to dive further in it. ]
Throw a dog a bone.
Anyone know any good jokes? Could use a couple. My brother doesn't smile much and it'd be nice to see him :) for once.
Or :D if I'm lucky.
[ ha ha. something is off and perhaps it's because derek hale has learnt how to smile. ]

text; no because that's no fun for me
[ Oh, well, he sort of answered her question. Sort of. ]
Not a scientist, no. Just the Doctor, that's all.
[ Because clearly that says everything and explains everything. ]
text; but you are no fun to begin with ...
[ ... ]
[ ... ]
[ cora's waiting for the punchline of this joke. ]
The Doctor?
Of what?
That's you're name?
The Doctor?
I'm Cora. Not The Girl.
text; so why do you keep haranguing me for tags?
Nothing else, just the Doctor. Suppose you could say I'm the Doctor of everything, but even that's stretching it a bit. So you're better off just calling me the Doctor, Cora.
Nice name, by the way.
text; okay, wow, no need to show off that you're an old fart by using big words
[ still not getting it. ]
text; what can I say, I am an old fart. using big words is an occupational hazard
[ And he probably wouldn't have one even if they weren't going by human standards. ]
It's just my name, like your name is Cora.
[ It just happens that his name is also a title, but it's more than that at the same time. ]
text; yes, an occupational hazard where i missed putting "a" in my tag. fu.
Doctor isn't a name. It's an occupation.
That's like me going by Girl.
[ she did hesitate when writing girl, wondering if perhaps she should say werewolf. ]
text; I noticed but I wasn't going to say anything. :P
You wouldn't go by Girl, because you've already got a name, and like I said, it's a nice name.
[ She should have said werewolf because that would've gotten the Doctor's attention, even more than she already has. ]
text; YOU'RE AN ASSHOLE
The Doctor?
Your parents wouldn't name you that.
[ it's a good thing this isn't face to face because this would literally be an endless cycle of your name is the doctor? ... even though it already is on stir, repeat. at least he's spared her looks. ]
text; asshole and proud of it
[ Don't ask him what name they did give him, because he won't say. ]
I chose it for myself later on.
[ Well, if Cora would just accept what he's saying, that he's called the Doctor, then they wouldn't be going in circles. So he decides to try putting a stop to it. ]
Now I have a question for you. What's this about your brother not smiling?
text; here is your gold star ✩
He doesn't smile.
[ great social skills, cora. she does better when talking in a circle. it's like a dog chasing his/her tail. ]
He's never really happy. And with me being gone …
Figured a joke might cheer him up, even if it's for a minute.
He used to smile all the time.
text; I'll treasure it forever
Has something terrible happened to him? To both of you?
[ And if that's the case, then the Doctor wants to know what it is, and if there's anything he can do to help. ]
What do you mean, you being gone? But that's nice, trying to cheer him up.
[ What a good sister. ]
text; vomits
Disappeared from Wonderland for a while.
[ and from his life for six years. he'd been gone from hers, too. but being absent from wonderland for a month is a little easier to swallow than the six years they've both been grieving for people who weren't ghosts from the start. ]
Not many good things happen.
Guess, because of that, he lost the muscle function to :)
Wonderland's meant to be wonderful, right?
text; you're gross
[ He's sorry to hear that. Although, maybe it wouldn't have necessarily been better for her if she'd stayed home. ]
I see, and I'm sorry. Really sorry.
You'd think it would be that way, but I really don't think it is, not all the time.
text; that's your face
[ if cora can help it, she doesn't want to reply to the rest. he doesn't owe her any apologies. things happen, shit hits the fan, and families fall apart. as for wonderland, she wants to think that it's a good place, better than beacon hills, but she's starting to wonder if it's just as bad, if not worse. ]
text; excuse you, my face is gorgeous
That's strange. Where did you go running?
[ Because it's possible she could've fallen into a rip in time or something like that, although he's guessing it has more to do with Wonderland's odd mechanics and less to do with the timey-wimey. ]
text; i give it a 2.5/10
text; oh you're so kind, really, you are
text; sparkles (★^O^★)
No. It was like any other morning. Except it spanned several mornings.
Guess I found some air pocket in Wonderland.
text; so pretty *o*
[ Well, that's not the proper name for it, but the name doesn't matter. The thing itself does. ]
text;
What does your anti-gravity book call it?
text;
text;
[ that's her answer. ]
I didn't fall down another rabbit hole, if that's what you're going to say next. I was just in the woods. It was normal. Like any other day.
text;
[ For some reason, he was expecting something different. And no, he wasn't going to say a word about a rabbit hole. ]
So you got yourself lost for a bit, and then you found your way out again?
text;
[ why was it so difficult to grasp? she didn't understand what he wanted, apart from her answers, which didn't seem to appease him in the slightest. ]
I didn't get lost. I was in the woods for what felt like an hour. Somehow I missed weeks.
I didn't fall or bump my head or pass out, before you ask. I was alert for the entire run.
text;
And he doesn't want anything from her, not really. He's just mulling this over, trying to make sense of it. She just happens to be the unfortunate person caught up in it. ]
And that makes me think that you fell into a place where time moves differently. I wonder if I went into the woods, if I'd find something similar.
