[It’s taken Hook a while to type out the message. What business do letters have being in some strange, nonsensical order? What sort of alphabet goes from Q to M instead of A to Z? It’s bloody confusing, but he’s managed, at last, to type out his message on the automatic writing mechanism he found in his pocket. It seems to have some sort of magical ability to show images and produce sounds too, but he has yet to figure those ones out.

The message is short and a bit stilted. He’s not used to having to hunt so hard for each letter, and finding advanced punctuation or capital letters is beyond him. But it gets the point across.]

to whom it may concern ive found myself on strange shores and could use information should it be available. the name is captain hook. im supposed to be in new york. does anyone know how to get there? i need to find emma swan. it is very important. sincerely, hook

Looking for Emma. I needed to bring her back to Storybrooke. You're telling me for her, the past year hasn't happened?

It hasn't happened for me, either. The last thing I remember is standing at the town line after I undid the Curse.

[Wait. Hold up.]

Which means Storybrooke doesn't exist anymore. How exactly, were you meant to take her back there?

Didn't exist, yes, but it seems to exist again. Perhaps your curse undoing lacks finesse.

There is nothing wrong with my ability to undo a curse. [Do you want to lose your other hand, Hook?] The only reason Storybrooke should exist again is if someone recast the Dark Curse.

I think you need to tell me exactly what happened during this 'year.'

I split off from you lot early on, so I don't know much. You and the others headed off to reclaim your castle, and I went to find my ship. Eventually I received a message from a bird that you all were in danger and that I needed to find Emma and reawaken her memories.

[That is a lot to take in. She quietly murmurs 'So it worked...' before speaking up.]

So we made it back to the Enchanted Forest, only for someone to curse us again. Do you have any idea who?

If I did, I'd have gone straight to face them rather than seek out Emma.

[Which wouldn't have been nearly as fun.]

Somehow I find that hard to believe. [SHE KNOWS.] How were you planning to reawaken Emma's memories?

Don't tell me you were expecting True Love's Kiss to work.

[...WELL NOT IF YOU SAY IT ALL MOCKINGLY LIKE THAT.

There's enough of a pause to make it clear he'd been considering that option.]

Of course. I didn't have a chance to give it to her before I appeared here.

[Hook you are her hero right now. And that makes her feel dirty.]

I'm going to need it. Are you still on the beach?

Aye. But Emma's on her way.

[Do you know how much she hates asking Hook for his help? Enjoy it while it lasts.]

Emma doesn't need it. I do.

Not me, Henry. He returned home for a time, and when he came back he was further along than the both of us.

He's from the year away. [Hook hadn't known how they'd awaken Henry's memories. But if Emma has hers, Hook doesn't really need the potion for her. Henry could drink it. He could remember.]

Yes. Now, are you going to hand it over or do I have to make you? [Consider this Regina's way of asking nicely.]

You really are desperate, aren't you? [He should probably be nicer about it, but sometimes it's hard not rubbing it in. Perhaps a part of him is a villain yet. But Regina of all people should get that.]

[When the reckoning comes, you will be the first to die, Hook.]

You would know desperation. Are you going to hand it over, or am I wasting my time?

[A sigh.] Fine. For the boy. I'll give it to Emma when she shows up here. No doubt she'll be as eager to return his memories as you are.

Fine. [It comes rather short, but she knows it's the only way this can end, given the pirate's infatuation.] Enjoy your stay in Wonderland, Captain.

[And she's gone. How long will it take him to figure out she hung up?]
