1st ғʟɪʀᴛᴀᴛɪᴏɴ ☽O☾ [video]

[ When the video feed comes to life, Isaac is lounging on a rather plush chair looking far more smug than he ever has in his life. He's got a cup of tea balancing on one of the arm rests and next to it a plate of biscuits - quite the sweet tooth at the moment apparently. Two things stick out like a sore thumb - the amount of stubble on the usually babyfaced teenager and the white gauze pad above his eyebrow. Of course when "Isaac" opens his mouth it becomes apparent quickly that either A) Isaac has developed a European accent or B) this isn't Isaac. ]

I'll say, one moment I was smack dab in The French Quarter and then I found myself here and I haven't a bloody clue how it happened.

[ He purses his lips a bit indignantly before speaking again. ]

And while I have to assume the company here is far superior to the company I was forced to keep there - I'm not a big fan of this unbreakable boundary spell. I'd like to meet the witch that cast it.

It's you...

[The words slip out just as Cami hits the button to reply, her eyes wide and fixed on the phone screen. She hadn't exactly gotten to meet the boy in the cabin, not properly, but of course she recognizes him. How could she not, when the guy had kept running his mouth despite Cami's best efforts to keep Klaus from killing him?

But the question is, does he recognize her? Cami's already gone through this with Elijah, and she's very aware that no one else will likely know who the boy is--including Davina.]

It wasn't a witch. [That much Cami is relatively sure of, and more importantly, hopefully her answer will earn one from him.] This is going to sound really weird--all of it, actually--but I need to know the last thing you remember before you came here. You said you were in the Quarter; not the bayou?

[So someone else from the past. Cami presses her lips together tightly, trying to decide just how to approach this. With Klaus and the others it had been easier, if only because she trusts them. But she'd barely met this boy, only knew Davina felt strongly enough for him to ask him to come to the cabin when she'd refused to tell Cami where she was.]

Not yet, for you. [At least the Wonderland aspect, she can dive into headfirst.] The way this world works, we're all drawn from different points in time. If you're not willing to believe me about the witch, you really aren't going to buy it when I say I'm from the future.

[But she is, and so is he, depending on the perspective.]

You'll recover. And you end up in the bayou to help Davina. That's where we meet.

[For a beat, Cami hesitates; of course there's an obvious assumption, but she's not sure she wants to share that with this boy. She barely knew him, and Davina had been trying to kill Klaus. To some extent the kid is going to be dragged into things here, yet oddly enough, Cami has some ability to control it.]

Some sort of spell. I didn't really get the details. I didn't even get your name before I ended up here.

[Thanks to Mikael's interference, but again, details he doesn't even need to know. She can't hide everything, however. Not if she wants the kid to trust her, and given his connection to Davina? Cami does.]

I can tell you I was trying to keep Klaus Mikaelson from killing you because you kept running your mouth when you shouldn't. He's here by the way, so consider that fair warning.

[In case Klaus hadn't contacted the kid himself already. Someone talking about witches from New Orleans would no doubt get the attention of all the Originals, just as it had hers.]

I'm sorry, did I forget to mention the part where I was busy trying to keep that "stuck up cow" from stabbing you to death because you didn't know when to stop saying stupid things? [Seriously kid, do not criticize her. Cami knows good and well that she can't keep Klaus from being himself, and with all the stress of Wonderland lately, she can't imagine his patience is doing well.]

Yes, he's here, along with Elijah and Rebekah. So's Davina. [And that brings them to the most complicated part of all this. As much of a brat as this kid is, he deserves to be warned about how Wonderland works--particularly if his feelings for Davina are genuine.]

Except I'm pretty sure she's not going to have a clue who you are. She's from months before I am, and she'd never mentioned you to me. [And given just how desperate Davina had been for someone to trust during that time, Cami's certain the kid's name would have come up if he'd been in her life before.]

[And in turn she ends up fighting off the urge to roll her eyes. Cami isn't typically the sort to say that there's no saving some people, but seriously? She's not asking the kid to kowtow, but a little restraint would go a very long way.

The thought is completely lost, however, when he brings up Vincent of all people.]
You mean Vincent Griffith? [As in her college adviser, as in someone who should have no connection to any of this whatsoever. Yet now, a witch Davina trusts enough to call on when she won't even tell Cami anything brings him up seemingly out of the blue?] He's not here that I'm aware of. How do you know him?

[It's an important question. How he answers it will go a long way to determining how eager she is to have him and Davina "sorting" anything out.]
therapize: (that's just not possible)

Wait...he's a witch? [Congratulations, kid. Now Cami is entirely suspicious of her adviser. Not that it makes her feel any better about the person she's talking to at present. A smart-mouthed kid with connections to the adviser Cami had been assigned after her former mentor suddenly dropped dead of a heart attack?

Yeah, she's going to be wary of them both.]

Okay, he's a witch. So what happened? A witch leaving their Coven is a pretty big deal, right?
therapize: (someone has to)

[personal profile] therapize 2015-01-28 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
[Cami’s only got an outsider’s perspective to go on, but she doesn’t see the whole walking away from a coven thing as so little a deal. Not when Davina had been torn apart with the guilt of it thanks to the ancestors being dicks.]

Given what I’ve learned about witches, and what you just said, deciding you want out and actually making it happen are two entirely different animals.

[Whatever he means to share or doesn’t, Cami’s had a lot of experience to force her over her naivety. She presses her lips together, trying to decide the best way to approach what she wants to ask next. He’s got all the arrogance typical of a kid his age, but she suspects its worse than that—after all, just how much reason does she have to believe everything he says?]

So how did you end up meeting Davina?
therapize: (i'm not sure where you fall)

[personal profile] therapize 2015-01-31 02:30 pm (UTC)(link)
[Cami can't quite help the little grin that cross her lips at that.]

Maybe that's exactly what you're doing. After all, I'm not her mother, but I am Davina's friend.

[And Davina is particularly vulnerable right now, between what's happened in Wonderland and what she remembers from back home. Not to mention that there's far too much coincidence here, she thinks. Even through all the superfluous details, Cami notices the lack of the one she's looking for: some indication of when it happened. Of course, technically she hadn't asked for that in the hopes of not being too obvious, but still.]

Witchy stuff? [Of course there are things she won't just let by. Witchy stuff in the Quarter has rarely amounted to anything good for the people Cami cares about.]

I wouldn't say he's my friend. After all, you seem to know him a lot better than I do. [And she also wouldn't necessarily say that the kid had been the one attacked. Still, why go after her then, when she'd been with this kid, if they are working together?]

Yeah. I've heard witches aren't big fans of people who leave their covens.
therapize: (that makes absolutely no sense)

[personal profile] therapize 2015-02-13 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
I'd imagine she'd have a few things to say if I started dating someone she wasn't sure she could trust.

[Might as well get it out in the open at this point. The simple fact is that none of them knows this kid, save for Cami herself--and that knowledge is incredibly limited. While Davina clearly trusts him in the future, it wouldn't exactly be the first time someone had tried to manipulate her for their own personal gain.]

Really? You're what, all of eighteen at most? [It's not that unusual for kids his age--and yes, Cami still views him as a kid, never mind that there's only a few years difference in their ages.] Somehow I doubt she'll take it that far.

[But it doesn't mix: a kid who is a self-proclaimed rebel, one who claims to have left his coven, but then turns around and stands up Davina to obey his mother? Cami already knows she won't get answers if she presses, but it's enough to keep her wary.

Kind of like what he follows up with.]

Wait, wait. They tried to kill you? Was that before or after you left?

...Wow. Then please, tell me just how I'm supposed to take the accusation that I wouldn't have anything I could for Davina while she was being tormented?

[That's officially not the way to get Cami on his side, for the record. Clearly this kid doesn't know the situation in full--how many people honestly do? But the blatant accusation is a few dozen steps further than Cami's gone so far, and it leaves her with absolutely zero desire to get into the whole mess of her history back home with him.]

Well, for the record, I didn't actually know what was going on. That's what happens when vampires compel you to forget the truth about the crazy supernatural world you're being dragged into. [She gives him a moment to grasp that before she continues on.] And when I was decompelled, finally, the first thing I did was to try and help Davina get out of town. So maybe before you make baseless accusations about which of us should be suspect, you might want to get your facts straight.

[Because Cami has proven herself, time and again, to be Davina's friend and protector in whatever way she can manage. This kid, on the other hand? Isn't doing anything to convince Cami he's worth trusting.

It doesn't stop her from continuing to pump him for information, however. For better or worse he's the only source she's got.]
So Vincent's in the coven leading the wolves. Well that's just fantastic.

[Though she doesn't reply, Cami can't deny that the kid brings up a good point. It's just difficult to trust his good intentions, given the delivery of them and what little Cami is certain of for herself. She needs time to think through all this, and to see just how the kid acts here in Wonderland. For better or worse they're both stuck here now, so she'll have plenty of opportunity to observe.]

A pressure point. [That's easy enough to see; it's not the first time she's been warned that she could prove to be someone's weakness. Elijah had said as much, and Klaus so many months ago.] Well, whatever it is, we won't find out unless he shows up here.

I should leave you to settle in. [She puts on a small smile as she starts to end the conversation.] This place takes some getting used to to say the least, but I'm sure I'll see you around.
