002 ✦ Video/Action for Coffee Shop

Ok, I'll try and keep this short and sweet. There should have been a little gift outside your door in the form of chocolate with a nifty logo on it.

[A task that would have been ridiculously annoying if she hadn't had help in the form of one Percy Jackson.]

Since I've been here for like 6ish months, and it's clear I'm not going home any time soon - I figured I might as well do something semi-productive.

[No, this has absolutely nothing to do with her recent death - nope. Not at all.]

Coffee shop's open for business on the 1st floor. You can't miss it - it's right next to the training center so stop in and get your java fix sometime. Also, I guess if people want to help out, I def won't say no.

[It's not like it's a legit legit business with paperwork and things like paychecks. Makes things way less messy that way.]

One more thing before I forget - if I'm not around, I don't object to people doing their own thing as long as you don't burn it down or break everything and leave a mess in your wake. That happens and I'll find you and I will kick your butt. Don't think that I won't. Because I will.

[Or she'll call for back-up to do the butt kicking. DETAILS.]

I'll be here hanging out so stop in and say hi. We also have pie courtesy of Ned, so that's a thing. There's also non-caffeinated drinks like tea and decaf if caffeine isn't your thing.

Oh!If anybody's up for it, I'm totes looking for guinea pigs to test coffee things out on so just let me know if you're game.

[And with that that, she ends the feed and returns to setting up various colored coffee mugs behind the bar.]

[Well, if Minato could ask for a little slice of heaven, then it might be here. She was so generous to leave the place open.]

Thanks. I'd like to study here, if I can.

[He'd feel like a real university student then, since it seemed like a thing they did. And he was glad that people had to bus their own dishes. That would make things convenient too.]

Do you have anyone else helping you out here that I should know about?

[ Robin has been known to push and prod on occasion if he feels like someone is upset and needs to talk, but doesn't feel safe or comfortable being vulnerable. He's gentle about it, but of the mind that it's far better to speak than hold it in. Yet, he's also mindful of boundaries, and just who he can push a bit.

Something feels just slightly off with Darcy, but he's not sure it warrants questioning further. And sometimes it's far better to give someone a bit of room to breathe. If there is anything troubling her, she's likely been asked about it already, so he can be a reprieve of sorts. ]

If I may ask, what compelled you to start up this charming little shop? Something to do?

[ He grins a little, something that vanishes as he takes a long sip from his juice. ]

I haven't. But you could always make the actual filling, I think... it wouldn't be too difficult.

[ But then again, what would he know about baking? He probably wouldn't even manage the dough for the pie. ]

But fair enough. There's a lot of other desserts and sweets we can go for, other than pumpkin pie. [ And if anyone's really that set on having one of those, they can just have the dining room sprout one for them. ]

It's amaze balls, seriously. You're gonna have to try it.

[Her words ring true, nodding in agreement because it made sense. Along with the whole making the best out of a horrible situation.]

Yeah, I mean if we're gonna be stuck here we might as well do something semi-productive. You can only mope and pretend that it's not gonna last for so long. How long have you been here?

[ ...Well spotted. But Will's done due diligence, he supposes, levering himself out of the couch with what feels like ancient sands grinding his joints. The coffee might be needed if he's about to help chuck her out into the deep end. ]

Not particularly. [ he concedes, coming around the bend. It isn't as though being out in the open saved Darcy. ]

I hope so. Mine made...just so much trouble.

[Uuuuuugh.]

It seems like they don't come over too often, at least. I think I can handle the other events if that stays true.

[Steve nods, because he has seen what the future holds, even if he can't speak specifically to what's going on with Thor, Jane, and Darcy. But he's got the feeling that a lot's going to change in light of SHIELD's fall. Not all of it will be good, either, even though he has no regrets about what he did.

Darcy's Wonderland goals seem fair enough, and Steve nods and takes a quick glance around the coffee shop again.] It looks like you're well on your way.

[As for him? Well, he doesn't have to hesitate much with his answers. The only reason he does is because Bucky's future is still not a pleasant topic of discussion.] Back home, it's just looking for Bucky. Here, my main concern is making sure that everyone around me stays safe. [Though he's already failed in that.] And getting to the bottom of this place.

[Good thing she's a pretty good swimmer. It's just kind of the way she functions, seeing how far she can run before she needs to turn herself back. Or how far before someone else pulls her back. Since her experience in dealing with chatting with the real version of the guy who killed her is kind of non-existent, proper protocol is being made up as she goes.

With a nod, she wordlessly leads him towards the back room, taking a steadying breath as she steps through the doorway. The room feels surprisingly smaller than before, sure that has something to do with the emotions coursing through her.]

[Making the actual filling from scratch just sounds like a lot of work. And digging. It's not something she's ever done before and while it might be a worthwhile project she'd rather spend her time not elbow deep in pumpkin guts.]

Truth. Besides, apple pie's way more fun. Or something a little different, like pear and brown sugar.

[She's gotta have her break from tradition in there somewhere.]

Or I could just get like 50 of Ned's pies and save a lot of work on my end since his stuff's amazing.

[Ok- maybe not 50 but close.]

[Ahaha... Yeah. She keeps the answer vague-ish because it's a legit question. People don't really wake up one morning and say 'I think I'm gonna open up a coffee shop'. At least not the people she knew.]

I'd been thinking about it for awhile, kinda tossing the idea around. The whole mirror thing solidified it for me - something to do to stay busy. It was... [A beat.] It wasn't a great week for me so this just seemed like the thing to do.

Don't worry about it. [Although her interest is definitely peaked.] What're you studying?

[Ah yes... That little matter. She would normally say there probably wouldn't be a lot of people randomly stopping in, but then life got complicated and people got worried. If the current stream of her friends were any indication, who knows. Better to give him a heads up than leave that for a surprise.] I've got a ton of people from home that'll probably be coming and going pretty freely. John Blake and Kate Bishop have also said they'd be interested in helping out. I'd say if you're here and you see people bopping around, especially if they walk like a superhero-type... I wouldn't worry too much.

None of them bite unless provoked. [She's kidding mostly. She gives him a little smile, hoping the tone of her voice would convey that. Sure they could all be terrifying in their own rights, but they could also be incredibly caring.]

[There's an almost resigned sigh at the assurance, giving up on trying to get him to take back the promise.

She doesn't doubt that he does have ways of stopping them, although grenades don't seem like the next best option. It should also be a little more terrifying that the words were ridiculously true. Sure, if they wanted to, they could easily get an infinite number of grenades.]

I don't think the royalty on either side would appreciate us blowing up their mansion.

[Not that she really cares. Maybe if they blow it up they can go home.]

[It's a gesture she appreciates, especially with just how delicately people had treated her after everything... Though it was understandable considering just how fragile she'd been.

She follows his logic, giving a small shake of her head as the smile stays in place. It worked for her and she didn't need to push it any further for details. Pouring a cup of coffee for herself, she slides into an open spot on the counter behind the bar before taking a sip.]

What have you been up to? Adjusting to the Wonderland life okay?

Especially if you like your food, y'know, edible.

Apple pie, an American classic. That would work.

[ Especially for something like Thanksgiving, it'd fit right in and it's probably something everyone would enjoy. It's simple, tasty, easy - and like she said, fun.

He laughs a little at her second suggestion, though, shaking his head a little. ]

Poor guy. Think it might be a bit much to ask him to bake them all. We don't really have anything to pay him with for all that work.

Yeah, I - I died. So fingers and toes crossed they don't come back over ever again.

[Granted they'd be a lot more prepared, sure Steve and the others would have a plan. It didn't stop the messages, however. All she could do was wait that one out - hope the mirror would lose interest eventually.]

[There's a certain amount of pride that goes into things like this, even if she hadn't done the heavy lifting on it. It had been pulled from her thoughts, having spent a ridiculous amount of time just thinking about it - designing it in her mind so the bones would be there. Everything else had been a piece of cake, just pulling things from the closet and keeping busy.

She gives a small nod, taking another look around - although her look covers more things that she's eager to fix and change - add to... Details here and there as she settles into the whole thing a little more.

It's understandable that his first and foremost task back home would be trying to track down his friend, especially with what little she knew. Although that really was a worry for later since who knew just how long they'd be stuck here. And with what had happened not that long ago across the board, it definitely deserved their full attention.]

I know Jane's working on a machine of some sort. I don't know what it actually does other than possibly make a loud noise.

[/shrug]

Although with how things seem to work around here, getting to the bottom of it all will be easier said than done.

[Or he tried to do that as much as he could on his own without actual schooling. Might as well do it here since he didn't think he'd have a chance to at home. Being dead at home put a damper on things like the future.]

If they're your friends, then I trust them. I hope I'm not intruding if I'm here when they are.

[He didn't want to be any trouble.]

[He shrugs nonchalantly, because frankly? He doesn't give a shit about either of those queen bitches or whether or not he's in their favor. It's not like they're doing anything anyway, right?]

Fuck 'em, what're they gonna do?

[Especially if they don't have a castle to kick him out of. They can chop his head off or whatever, but he'll just come back and probably piss on their tents.

It's not really helping her, though, and his lips press together for a second.]

...Or we could get really stoned and watch Sharktopus Takes Manhattan to take your mind off if it?

[He feels a pang of guilt at the relief he feels that it wasn't his Mirror who was responsible--if he had, her reaction to him would have been very different.]

I'm sure you have friends here that you can rely on [He's assuming, anyway, since most people do seem to.] but if you ever need help in a bad situation, please know that I'll do what I can to help you.

[He can't exactly teleport to help her out, but if she's able to get to him or contact him, he'll defend her with his life. He barely knows her, but lives are worth a lot to him.]

Mm, that's true! Actually, I've been here...

[She actually has to stop and think about it, which is never a great sign.]

...I think it's been about a year and a half now. What about you?

[ Good swimmers are a requirement with Will, who is often spilling over his own brim or bringing the flood down around him. Darcy's struggle isn't a blip on the map, but she is one of many that's brushed shoulders with Will and become collateral. It's part and parcel with Wonderland that he sees the past and present differently and overlapping, the cognitive dissonance of knowing Beverly Katz died and hasn't died, knowing that Darcy was eviscerated and is leading him into her private room, two deaths that weighed, weigh, and will weigh.

Will observes as he follows, the subtle rise and fall in her shoulders, and falls back crossing the threshold, wandering deeper into the room at a slower pace. ]

Is there anything I can offer outside of apology?

[ Hearing that it wasn't a great week for her feels like an invitation to question her a bit further, but there is of course a chance she won't want to say much beyond that. ]

Were you alright?

[ Did anyone hurt you, is the question he wants to ask, but that seems like a bit too much all at once. ]

[Given that some of the best scientists (in his world, at least) have been working at it for months and still have very little to show for it, Steve's in agreement that cracking the secret of Wonderland won't be easy. But maybe it's a problem that science can't solve.

Not that any scientist worth their salt would want to hear that, but sometimes you've got to think outside the box.

The mention of a new machine does sound promising, though. Darcy doesn't seem to have a lot of information, so Steve will just have to hope he can catch Jane and ask her about it personally. She's a bit more insular than Darcy, though, caught up in her work and all.]

I know that there really shouldn't be such a thing as magic, but that's the case where we're from. We might have to look at things from a different angle, here.

[Unlike his science friends, Darcy might not dismiss him out of hand. Steve takes another bite of pie and another sip of coffee as he awaits her answer.]

With a business plan like that you're gonna be broke.
