002 ✦ Video/Action for Coffee Shop

Ok, I'll try and keep this short and sweet. There should have been a little gift outside your door in the form of chocolate with a nifty logo on it.

[A task that would have been ridiculously annoying if she hadn't had help in the form of one Percy Jackson.]

Since I've been here for like 6ish months, and it's clear I'm not going home any time soon - I figured I might as well do something semi-productive.

[No, this has absolutely nothing to do with her recent death - nope. Not at all.]

Coffee shop's open for business on the 1st floor. You can't miss it - it's right next to the training center so stop in and get your java fix sometime. Also, I guess if people want to help out, I def won't say no.

[It's not like it's a legit legit business with paperwork and things like paychecks. Makes things way less messy that way.]

One more thing before I forget - if I'm not around, I don't object to people doing their own thing as long as you don't burn it down or break everything and leave a mess in your wake. That happens and I'll find you and I will kick your butt. Don't think that I won't. Because I will.

[Or she'll call for back-up to do the butt kicking. DETAILS.]

I'll be here hanging out so stop in and say hi. We also have pie courtesy of Ned, so that's a thing. There's also non-caffeinated drinks like tea and decaf if caffeine isn't your thing.

Oh!If anybody's up for it, I'm totes looking for guinea pigs to test coffee things out on so just let me know if you're game.

[And with that that, she ends the feed and returns to setting up various colored coffee mugs behind the bar.]

I think what tripped it up was the whole shark decoration part of it. If you keep it simple, like pancakes, it tends to cooperate.

All he asked for with using the pies here was a little card acknowledging that they came from him. And ok, maybe not 50 but he did seem to have quite a few extras.

[She gives a casual shrug.]

But, I guess it wouldn't be quite the same if everything else was made by the group and the pies weren't. I might even give the whole pumpkin pie from scratch thing a whirl.

[And if it turned out to be a total disaster, at least there'd be pumpkin seeds. Bonus.]

[Death has a tendency to be a party pooper on plans.]

And don't worry about it. The coffee shop is meant for everyone here, not just people from my home. Anyone ever gives you any lip you just let me know.

[She could pull a pretty intimidating super serious face when she wanted to, not that she's actually expecting it to be necessary. Not with this, at least.]

I got your back, dude. Studying is serious business - I've been there.

[She doesn't have quite the same casualness to the idea of pissing off royalty... Legit or otherwise. Something about poking what she could only assume to be decision makers around here with a stick just seemed like a bad idea.

With a small tilt of her head, she considers the offer for a long moment.]

It definitely does make bad movies better.

[And with access to the closets and the kitchen, it just seemed more and more appealing.]

You don't need to apologize, believe me. I'll be ok.

[It was something the others from home were helping believe. She manages a small smile and a nod at the friends comment.]

There's a ridiculous amount of people from home here and they're all pretty fantastic in their own rights. But I'm always up for making new friends. I'll keep that in mind if anything ever happens again, and just know even if I can't help you in the future some time if you need it - I know a lot of people who are more than capable of kicking ass and taking names.

[Wow, a year and a half. It'd be impressive if it were just about anything else that didn't involve kidnapping.]

Um, like 6 months? I think? My counting could be off, but that sounds about right.

[And that's terrifying enough to think about on its own.]

[Collateral comes with the human job description back home, especially when aliens and gods get involved. It's a bitter pill to swallow, but an honest one.

It's hard for her to find the right words, almost tempted to ask if he knew the details of her death - of what had happened after... What had left her clothes in such a state.]

Do you know - Do you know why he did it?

[Was there anything that she needed to do to stay off the radar to be more accurate - make sure the message she'd had in her mirror wouldn't ring true...]

So far, so... [ he lets his voice trail away, and a frown takes his brow ] It has been mostly comfortable here. For me.

I, um... I died. [Could have died a second time if Bruce and Steve hadn't found her.] But it's okay, I'm okay. Everything's almost totally healed and -

[She'd had some time to deal with it - process it all and put away the parts of it she wasn't quite ready to face yet.]

And I opened a coffee shop. [Tada.]

Yeah, I feel like they wouldn't have lumped us with a crap ton of people from other worlds if they didn't want us to work together to try and find a way out. See what else people have to offer that might be shiny and new.

[She's definitely open to the concept of thinking outside the box, the box having been thrown away about 3 years ago when Thor fell from the sky. Amazing how many brain doors that opens when crap like that happens.

This place? Just another reason to keep that particular box in the dumpster.]

Besides, there's a lot of things that shouldn't be true that exist. It's just gonna be a matter of getting certain people on board with getting creative. It's all gotta come from somewhere in here... Like an energy source or something.

[Look at her having picked up a thing or two from her time with Jane and Erik.]

Mmm... True. Although I wouldn't know the first thing about putting together a business plan so it's probably for the best I didn't actually invest any money in this little venture.

[Yeah, she understood that frown and what else went with it. She'd made the same face more than once.] At least the rooms do the whole magic thing so you can basically have whatever you want. I mean it's a crappy consolation prize, but it's something.

[And fingers and toes crossed it would be pretty quiet in terms of events and things.]

Did you want to try any of the pies? Ned made them.

Fair enough. I've got coffee delivery experience. Y'know... since Tony sort of lives off the stuff... if you need any help or anything. ..

I'm always open to help... And coffee delivery could totally blow this whole thing sky high.

[Especially down to the lab. She knew just how much Jane and the others consumed, it might be nice to be able to give them something other than the sludge they sometimes manage to concoct for themselves.]

Not during events though... that would suck. Could you imagine?

Ugh. No thank you. With the luck I've had lately, the coffee would probably end up turning into poison or something stupid and killing half the mansion.

Thanks. I'll do what I can with the upkeep of this place.

[It was the least he could do for her in return. Everyone should have the chance to enjoy the coffee shop in pristine condition.]

Can I ask what you studied or what else you do at home?

[It was nice too that someone supported him in this way. Studying was probably not most people's first priority here.]

Don't jinx the coffee... [ some of the residents have to make it for their girlfriends every morning... and that wouldn't be cool. ]

So.. would you be at fault for that... or wonderland?

[Womp womp. Jinxed coffee - not the worst thing to happen around her although it would suck big time.]

Well, considering I didn't pour poison in the coffee, I'd guess Wonderland. Since it seems to be at fault for almost everything.

[Except when the actual murderers they pull in do their murder thing. Although with the right spin, even that could be blamed on Wonderland due to the situation.]

Awesome.

[She really did appreciate the respect of the place. While it'd been a cakewalk to throw together, it didn't mean keeping it that way would be easy - especially if things like dishes and other fun messes slowly killed it.]

And I studied Political Science, although I've been an intern to an astrophysicist for the last few years. It's a long story.

Yeah, I guess... this place sucks sometimes.

At least they'd come back...

And probably never want to drink coffee again. [She knows she wouldn't if it'd killed her. At least not at first. Although like the beach, she'd slowly build herself back up to testing it out eventually because it'd be too hard to stay away.]

This place can be downright stupid sometimes. Suck doesn't even begin to cover some of the crap.

Coffee is pretty important, they'd probably get over it...

Sometimes it doesn't suck... sometimes you get to see people that yoi never thought you would... [ Erica... ]

That sounds cool though.

[Astrophysics? Of course that would sound awesome to anyone. Not a lot of people say they were an intern to someone skilled in that field. It was fascinating, really, also in the sense that it was a field that he hadn't thought of in terms of a future profession.]

I'm listening, if you're willing to share.

[But if she didn't want to divulge details, he was still cool with that. She knew so much, which was awesome in itself since he did like hanging out with people who knew more than he did.]

[As expected, Darcy's on board with the idea of changing the way that they tackle this particular problem. Obviously the way they're used to isn't working, so it's time to change their thinking and see if they come up with a different result.

Granted, a lot of this goes over his head too. He knows the basics of most scientific concepts, but go in-depth enough and he starts to lose his footing.]

Maybe we can convince our scientist friends to start working with people from worlds that are more based in magic.

[It'll take some work, though, given how stubborn they all are. Darcy is more or less Jane's best friend, though, so maybe she'll have some luck there.]

You work on Jane, I'll work on Bruce? [Steve hides a smile behind another bite of pie, and the next thing he knows, it's all gone.]
