002 ✦ Video/Action for Coffee Shop

Ok, I'll try and keep this short and sweet. There should have been a little gift outside your door in the form of chocolate with a nifty logo on it.

[A task that would have been ridiculously annoying if she hadn't had help in the form of one Percy Jackson.]

Since I've been here for like 6ish months, and it's clear I'm not going home any time soon - I figured I might as well do something semi-productive.

[No, this has absolutely nothing to do with her recent death - nope. Not at all.]

Coffee shop's open for business on the 1st floor. You can't miss it - it's right next to the training center so stop in and get your java fix sometime. Also, I guess if people want to help out, I def won't say no.

[It's not like it's a legit legit business with paperwork and things like paychecks. Makes things way less messy that way.]

One more thing before I forget - if I'm not around, I don't object to people doing their own thing as long as you don't burn it down or break everything and leave a mess in your wake. That happens and I'll find you and I will kick your butt. Don't think that I won't. Because I will.

[Or she'll call for back-up to do the butt kicking. DETAILS.]

I'll be here hanging out so stop in and say hi. We also have pie courtesy of Ned, so that's a thing. There's also non-caffeinated drinks like tea and decaf if caffeine isn't your thing.

Oh!If anybody's up for it, I'm totes looking for guinea pigs to test coffee things out on so just let me know if you're game.

[And with that that, she ends the feed and returns to setting up various colored coffee mugs behind the bar.]

I used to not, but this place... [She gives a small laugh, the sound a little empty.] It changes things.

[Changes people. Something she needed to get back on track.]

Maybe when I get home, I should open up a coffee shop. Too bad it won't be this easy.

[Or she could just go back to following Jane around and making sure she was well fed - although, with Thor coming back that could all change again.]

[There's a hesitation when she sees that reaction, giving a small sigh as she crosses towards him.]

Y-yeah.

[She's more than a little hesitant to give him the name, especially with what she'd learned about him. She hadn't seen Will yet - his real at least - since the whole thing. That little note on her bathroom mirror earlier a gift from his other self.]

It's not important. It's done and -

[Ok, it's not done, may never be done - but she needs to attempt to start moving past it.]

As long as he stays on the mirror side, it should all be okay.

No. No - it's...

[Ok. No, it's really not - but it wasn't his fault. She needed to think about him in the same light as Natasha and Bucky. Their mirrors actions weren't their own. It helped that she's had about a month to process it all, get a little further out of the dark hole she'd fallen in.

She grabs the coffee for him, adding one sugar before handing it over.]

Do you - [Hmm...] Do you wanna talk? There's a little room in the back, we can... We can talk.

[If he wanted to. It'd be a good way for her to move forward somewhat, maybe even get some insight into his mirror - if not for her, then maybe for the others because Steve and Bucky definitely wanted more info.]

Tea is more up Bruce's alley, but I can definitely see the appeal. I enjoy a good cup of peppermint tea every now and then.

[There's a hesitation talking about hot chocolate, the moments with Bucky in the kitchen dealing with his finding her body - how he'd made hot chocolate from scratch, '40s style, as something comforting.]

Cinnamon, really? Have you had homemade hot chocolate or the stuff from the packets?

[There's a slight eyeroll to that, but there's no attitude behind it.]

I'll sign you up as a taste tester. Maybe even make the suggestion for pizzas instead of turkey for t-day. Less work and way more fun. Everyone can make their own and there's no awkward giant turkey to feed everyone.

[Especially with Thor here now, with how many people have ridiculous metabolisms they'd probably need two turkeys. Maybe three.]

[So professional and artistic. It's more than just eating something because it tasted good, but having it look good to eat too helped. Minato smiled a little, and was a little sheepish in asking. He had already troubled her so much with her having to teach him about coffee in general.]

You can make whipped cream on your own? Is that hard to do?

[His fingers twitch at his sides, that scowl not leaving his face even when she dismisses the whole fucking thing like it doesn't even matter. He shifts, arms crossing unhappily over his chest.]

You don't know that.

[He responds, insistent.]

It's all fucking peachy right now, but when they cross over again, you're fucked unless you've got some people looking out for you.

[He's a pusher, a presser, and he's doing it now, locking eyes with her and appealing seriously.]

Come on, Darcy, this shit's important, just tell me. Please.

A caramel apple cider? I would be all over that. Same with a toasted marshmallow s'mores latte, with like graham cracker topping. [Now you're getting him excited too.]

My mom always made baked pears with cinnamon and sugar in the fall.

_{[Everybody needs to eat, it's true! Maybe not Peter, per se, but there are perks to long life and that is to have the equally long-lived pleasure of small human things, such as having a meal to your liking.

Coffee, in theory, isn't something he thinks he'd be very fond of; the smell in Storybrooke's diner had not appealed to him. But treats? Hm, those are a possibility...

And perhaps he'd stop in one day just to see the unique decor in person for himself.]}

Pound cake?

_{[This time, Peter sounds unsure. He can identify everything else on her menu, though how exciting it is is up for debate.]}

[Hours... She should probably set some up officially rather than the route she'd gone. Everything was kind of operating in a 'fly by the seat of your pants' kinda way since she hadn't been planning on opening this early.

And then things happened.]

Cool, I'll keep that in mind. And don't worry about the not knowing much about coffee. I learn more every day. I think I'll be putting together something to keep track of all the recipes and things. It'll just keep growing with time and people can add to it.

[Complicated was one word for it. Hot mess was more accurate, though.]

It definitely opened up my mind a bit to other things like the whole there being 8 other realms not counting the other universes and galaxies.

[She's still wrapping her head around the parallel and alternate universes here. It's more than a little overwhelming.]

It definitely did something, occupied her mind in a far more positive way than hiding out in her room and avoiding everyone and everything. Although, that wasn't such a hot idea anymore - speaking of...

In an effort to try and be more open about everything and not box it all up, she should probably tell someone about the thing.

After she finishes the caramel apple drink. Totally. Yeah, definitely.

Putting it together, she makes a mini version of it to put down in front of Natasha. Just in case she wanted to try it. As a not taste tester.

Settling against the bar, she leans in a little - voice hushed. "I, um... I had a message on my bathroom mirror today."

Don't worry about it and it's not all that hard. If you're going for it from scratch, you just need to whip up some heavy cream and add some of the mint sugar or mint extract if you wanna get super fancy in place of some of the sugar. Otherwise you could ask the closet or kitchen for some whipped cream and just fold in the mint.

[She offers a smile, and a small shrug.]

If I get super bored I'll throw some together for you. It's easier to just give it a whirl than explain. It might take a few tries but that's part of the fun.

I'd say I prefer tea when I want to relax and coffee when I want to wake up, given how...alert it can make you.

[ And peppermint tea is especially good when you're sick.

The hesitation is noticed, though...he doesn't interpret it as anything more than her simply considering what he's said. ]

Only the stuff from packets, which I imagine is something of a travesty. You should try the cinnamon, if you enjoy that particular spice, it adds an interesting depth to the drink.

[That's honestly how the diner tends to run too - it's not like Tohru's ever run a diner before, and the only person she knows who has went home a long time ago, so she's just guessing most of the time.]

Oh! That's a really good idea! You'd be able to have all sorts of recipes from all different worlds that way. It sounds like a good thing to have around!

[That's... complicated. At best. When she'd been sent home, it'd been a serious test for Jane on surviving on her own and she'd passed. It'd been weird coming back, almost feeling like she didn't really have a job to do anymore. Jane was flourishing on her own, with other scientists to rely on that were a lot more sane than Erik.

It left her to find her own path, something she'd been avoiding with Jane. It was so easy to tell herself that Jane needed her - couldn't function without her... And yet - surprise she totally can.

Her face falls a little, giving what she hopes comes off as a casual shrug.]

We'll see. One can only deal with so much science time and large words that make no sense before you need a break.

[That works. Sure.]

I don't expect to be with Jane forever. Especially since Thor came back before I got dropped in here again.

[Being a third wheel was so not her style.]

[He wanted to push? Fine. Fine. He wanted the nitty gritty details? Okay.

Her face sets slightly, her arms mirror his - head hanging slightly before letting her gaze refocus on him. She'd dismissed it because it was easier that way, but if he wanted to really see how she was dealing with it then there was no point in hiding it. There's a shine to her eyes, a hint of fear and pain mixed in.]

It's not all fine and peachy right now - even without crossing over they can still -

[No. She'd been so good about keeping that one to herself today, so good at pushing it all aside and pretending it didn't hold the same weight as things in the real world. People didn't revive in the real world.]

You want a name? Have three.

[Surprise.]

After I got killed by Will Graham's mirror, I had a little run in with Bucky and Natasha's.

[The bruises were faded, but the pain in her ribs was still a little tender if she over-exerted herself.]

Baked pears with cinnamon and sugar. Holy crap.

[YES. There's a pause as her lips quirk, taking a look around.]

Ok, but what if the toasted marshmallow s'more latte had actual caramelized marshmallow on the top. The kind of caramelization that you can only get with the little torch you use for things like crème brûlée...

[It would be a solid idea until someone took the torch away from her. Which would obviously be ridiculous. She could totally be trusted with fire. Totally.]

It's like a heavier cake that's usually baked in loaf form. They used to just add a pound of each ingredient before measurements got a little clearer.

[She smiles, giving a small nod.]

The marble pound cake is ridiculously good - the chocolate and vanilla swirled together. Add a little whipped cream and holy crap.

[That look in her eyes... that pain... it does wonders to soften his aggressive countenance. He feels guilty instantly for pushing, for digging into some obviously sensitive shit. He's the world's biggest asshole, but he can't help but be glad to know.

Will Graham. Bucky. Natasha. He doesn't know any of these assholes, but he's going to learn their faces. Just in case another mirror thing happens and he's got to put the fucking fear of god into them.

He may not seem like much, but he's got a beastly advantage if he needs it.

He'll think about that later, right now he moves forward to carefully wrap a hand around her shoulder. It's meant to be comforting, and he squeezes gently.]

I'm sorry.

[He says sincerely, meeting her eye.]

Seriously. I mean it. And I swear it's not gonna happen again.

[ And he just smiles at the eyeroll, taking another corner of the slice of pie to continue eating while they talk. ]

Good luck getting that to pass with the group. Don't forget you have the Captain America with us, I doubt he'll be alright with anything less than turkey for thanksgiving.

[ Even if that meant cooking several turkeys. Then again, they could just pull some already cooked from the closets, all ready to serve. ]

Do I want to know?

[He really did appreciate it. He thought asking for the closet was convenient, but it wasn't as fun as making something. Making things from scratch should taste better too. He hoped it was okay if he scooted a mug over to himself, looking at it again.]

Did knowing about stuff like that to start with make it easier to come to a place like this?

[Kaneki's still working on that. Having read a lot of books has helped, but he mostly doesn't think about it much.]

Tell me about it. [ an empty sentiment in most cases, but he doesn't have an empty sentiment in his body. he is attesting to her comment. Percy agrees with her. in the same breath though, he doesn't mind hearing about what's going on with her if she wants to talk about it. ]

Or this cheap. [ money: the struggle. ] But that's what friends are for.
