002 ✦ Video/Action for Coffee Shop
Ok, I'll try and keep this short and sweet. There should have been a little gift outside your door in the form of chocolate with a nifty logo on it.
[A task that would have been ridiculously annoying if she hadn't had help in the form of one Percy Jackson.]
Since I've been here for like 6ish months, and it's clear I'm not going home any time soon - I figured I might as well do something semi-productive.
[No, this has absolutely nothing to do with her recent death - nope. Not at all.]
Coffee shop's open for business on the 1st floor. You can't miss it - it's right next to the training center so stop in and get your java fix sometime. Also, I guess if people want to help out, I def won't say no.
[It's not like it's a legit legit business with paperwork and things like paychecks. Makes things way less messy that way.]
One more thing before I forget - if I'm not around, I don't object to people doing their own thing as long as you don't burn it down or break everything and leave a mess in your wake. That happens and I'll find you and I will kick your butt. Don't think that I won't. Because I will.
[Or she'll call for back-up to do the butt kicking. DETAILS.]
I'll be here hanging out so stop in and say hi. We also have pie courtesy of Ned, so that's a thing. There's also non-caffeinated drinks like tea and decaf if caffeine isn't your thing.
Oh!If anybody's up for it, I'm totes looking for guinea pigs to test coffee things out on so just let me know if you're game.
[And with that that, she ends the feed and returns to setting up various colored coffee mugs behind the bar.]

[action]
[She smiles, grabbing a larger mug.]
I usually go with mochas - a nice mix of white and dark chocolate to keep it from getting too sweet.
[action]
I never had a mocha before. How do you make one of those?
[action]
Pulling the milk out of the small cooler beneath the counter, she sets up a shot of espresso to start brewing. She gives a small groan as she cleans the steaming wand.]
Ok, so this has been acting up a bit but you just have to give it a stern look and remind it who's boss. Also, with mochas - you can add all sorts of things to it to liven it up. Like some hazelnut, or maybe a little fruit - things that pair really well with chocolate.
[action]
What's the most popular drink where you're from?
[He was watching as she worked on the machines, and had to memorize the steps. The machines had their quirks that he had to remember.]
[action]
[She adds both white and dark chocolate to the empty mugs before adding a shot of espresso in each, stirring as she pours in the steamed milk. Adding whipped cream on top of one with chocolate, she turns her attention towards him.]
Feel like some bonus frou frou for your mocha?
Re: [action]
Sure. What else can you do to it?
[He was glad enough that she was teaching him about all of this. His world was opening up a little more, as small as this was. The coffee smelled good too.]
[action]
And then Erik - she's not even gonna get into Erik, especially post-Loki Erik.]
You can add different flavors or things to it. Like fruit, maybe strawberries or pomegranate. Things that pair well with chocolate. Even pumpkin if you're in a fall mood. Hazelnut is also stellar. It's kind of like drinking liquid nutella.
[action]
... What about mint?
[So says the boy who could eat ice cream for every meal and his favorite was mint chocolate chip.]
[action]
[She gives an approving look, already reaching for the mint syrup to add to the cups before pouring in the shots of espresso and milk. She puts in a little more chocolate before stirring.]
Do you want whipped cream?
[action]
Thank you. You're really good at this.
[action]
With a little smile, she adds whipped cream to the mugs - drizzling a little more chocolate and mint on top of it.]
Thanks. Also, if you wanted to get really fancy, you could totally make whipped cream of your own and add some mint to it so it has that flavor.
[That'd be fantastic and might actually be something she does just to test it out. If he stops down sometime when she's not there, he may find a pressurized whipped cream container with 'mint' taped on it.
Maybe. Okay probably - no it's totally happening because mint whipped cream.]
Tada!
[action]
[So professional and artistic. It's more than just eating something because it tasted good, but having it look good to eat too helped. Minato smiled a little, and was a little sheepish in asking. He had already troubled her so much with her having to teach him about coffee in general.]
You can make whipped cream on your own? Is that hard to do?
[action]
[She offers a smile, and a small shrug.]
If I get super bored I'll throw some together for you. It's easier to just give it a whirl than explain. It might take a few tries but that's part of the fun.
[action]
[He really did appreciate it. He thought asking for the closet was convenient, but it wasn't as fun as making something. Making things from scratch should taste better too. He hoped it was okay if he scooted a mug over to himself, looking at it again.]
If you need help, I'd like to, if it's okay with you.
[action]
[It was complicated at best, but that was what it was at its core. It had been an impulse to deal with the single piece of straw that was trying to break her healing back.]
It'd be good practice.
[action]
[Minato just wanted to hang out a bit. It's been a while since he's been in a proper coffee shop. But she didn't have to stick around if she had other things to do around the place.]
But no pressure, if you'd like me to leave.
[action]
[So 24 hour coffee shop? 24 coffee shop.]
Feel free to check it all out, there's an upper level and a little extra space in the back if you're ever here and wanna drop off rags or dishes in there for washing.
[action]
Thanks. I'd like to study here, if I can.
[He'd feel like a real university student then, since it seemed like a thing they did. And he was glad that people had to bus their own dishes. That would make things convenient too.]
Do you have anyone else helping you out here that I should know about?
[action]
[Ah yes... That little matter. She would normally say there probably wouldn't be a lot of people randomly stopping in, but then life got complicated and people got worried. If the current stream of her friends were any indication, who knows. Better to give him a heads up than leave that for a surprise.] I've got a ton of people from home that'll probably be coming and going pretty freely. John Blake and Kate Bishop have also said they'd be interested in helping out. I'd say if you're here and you see people bopping around, especially if they walk like a superhero-type... I wouldn't worry too much.
None of them bite unless provoked. [She's kidding mostly. She gives him a little smile, hoping the tone of her voice would convey that. Sure they could all be terrifying in their own rights, but they could also be incredibly caring.]
[action]
[Or he tried to do that as much as he could on his own without actual schooling. Might as well do it here since he didn't think he'd have a chance to at home. Being dead at home put a damper on things like the future.]
If they're your friends, then I trust them. I hope I'm not intruding if I'm here when they are.
[He didn't want to be any trouble.]
[action]
[Death has a tendency to be a party pooper on plans.]
And don't worry about it. The coffee shop is meant for everyone here, not just people from my home. Anyone ever gives you any lip you just let me know.
[She could pull a pretty intimidating super serious face when she wanted to, not that she's actually expecting it to be necessary. Not with this, at least.]
I got your back, dude. Studying is serious business - I've been there.
[action]
[It was the least he could do for her in return. Everyone should have the chance to enjoy the coffee shop in pristine condition.]
Can I ask what you studied or what else you do at home?
[It was nice too that someone supported him in this way. Studying was probably not most people's first priority here.]
[action]
[She really did appreciate the respect of the place. While it'd been a cakewalk to throw together, it didn't mean keeping it that way would be easy - especially if things like dishes and other fun messes slowly killed it.]
And I studied Political Science, although I've been an intern to an astrophysicist for the last few years. It's a long story.
[action]
[Astrophysics? Of course that would sound awesome to anyone. Not a lot of people say they were an intern to someone skilled in that field. It was fascinating, really, also in the sense that it was a field that he hadn't thought of in terms of a future profession.]
I'm listening, if you're willing to share.
[But if she didn't want to divulge details, he was still cool with that. She knew so much, which was awesome in itself since he did like hanging out with people who knew more than he did.]
[action] Cool with wrapping this up for the new AC period?
[It's a solid chunk of info jammed into a few sentences, leaving out a crap ton of info. The nitty gritty details she'll leave to some of the others if he gets curious and asks one of the others from home.]
[action] Sure! Totally cool with me! Thanks. <3
