video } entry 2
[Dipper looks even more frazzled than usual. The stress lines that always surround his eyes are more pronounced than usual.]
So, you might have noticed a really strange transmission that went through? That... that's from my world. His name's Bill Cipher. He looks like a surprisingly well dressed triangle, and he's... some kind of demon, I guess. He can get into your head and mess with your dreams and just be creepy.
[He leans in closer to the camera.]
Whatever you do, don't trust him. Really, it's probably best to run as far away as you can if you see him. And let me know if he somehow gets into your head. I've gotten him out before, I can do it again.
[He sits back a bit.]
...that's about it. Any questions?

I don't know the full extent of his powers yet. But I do know that he's extremely dangerous. And the dream thing shouldn't be taken lightly. Unless you like having your memories stolen.

[Adam doesn't have a joking bone in his body when it comes to angels, so if Dipper doesn't believe in them, he can at least believe the grim warning in his tone. It's not a subject to take lightly, either.
He'd underestimated them once. He would've underestimated this ridiculous dream demon thing back then, too, but after everything, Adam doesn't take anything lightly.]
I mean, it's not the normal kind of demon? It's not possessing some schmuck's body?
[A kid probably isn't the best source for demonology info, but hey, Dipper survived this thing once and lived to tell the tale. That's better than nothing.]
no subject
Bill is bad enough. If these other demons are worse?
Dipper doesn't know if there are words to describe how doomed they'll be.]
He's not possessing anyone. He's just... floating.
no subject
[That's Adam's version of Demons 101 for you. And he hopes for Dipper's sake that this kid doesn't get any more involved in the monster shit storm than he is already.
Dipper's just a kid, for one.]
If he's not wearing somebody, he's not a kind I've ever read about. How'd you manage to get dragged into this stuff? Wrong place, wrong time?
no subject
[It would at least probably half the number of threats. He rubs his chin thoughtfully as he tries to remember what he heard about the other demons, then glances up at Adam's other question.]
Right place. I'm really good at this stuff. If it weren't for me, that demon would have stolen my great uncle's memories. I've been dealing with the supernatural all summer.
no subject
[He's mostly thinking of Dean in that moment. Dean and Crowley had fought it out, and though it'd ended with one dead demon (bonus), Dean had still cut a swathe through the Wonderland population, and now both of them were back in action like nothing had happened.
As far as having monsters cancel each other out goes? It's a nice thought, but it's not working out so well. Adam only wishes it were that easy.
Then again, he's putting his head together with someone who doesn't even have a driver's license yet, so what does he know? It's the blind leading the blind around here. He'll hand it to Dipper, surviving a single summer is still better than his track record--he'd lasted two days, and even then, he'd died at the end of one, and ended up possessed at the end of the other.]
Yeah, well, what did summer camp with monsters teach you about dealing with this one?
no subject
[The problem is, of course, that he hasn't had that much experience with this particular one. He's faced Bill Cipher once, and though he technically one, he can't shake the feeling that it isn't over. Maybe the whole menacing final message and how quickly he'd shaken off their attacks once he'd felt like it had something to do with that. Maybe he's just paranoid.]
Mostly that I need more information. There's a pattern here, and I know I'll find it, but it might take time.
Until then, we'll just have to fight him if he tries to invade someone's head.
no subject
[There are for angels and demons; Adam had learned that much thanks to Dean, Jo, and other hunter resources. So far no one else is jumping forward with information on this thing, aside from Dipper.]
A pattern for what?
[Those letters that had appeared on the video? The kid's starting to lose him.]
no subject
Him. What he does, what he says, what he wants. If I can find a pattern, I can predict him, and if I can predict him, I can stop him. I just have to pay attention to absolutely every single thing he does or says to anyone!
[Easy, right?]
no subject
Right... The plan could use some work.
["Demolished with a wrecking ball" sort of work.]
If this thing's as bad news as you say it is, then be glad you got off lucky once. Going back for seconds is just asking to get worked over. How do you plan on protecting yourself from a demon, let alone anybody else?
[Dipper isn't even tall enough to climb onto one of the bar's stools without help.]
no subject
The words make Dipper shrink in on himself a little, expression falling, and he wraps an arm around himself. He doesn't like feeling helpless. He doesn't like having all his short comings pointed out. All the ways he can't be the big hero he wants to be. He doesn't like thinking about the possibility that he could fail.
So he won't fail. He clenches his jaw, face set into something a little more determined, a little stubborn. He's terrified, honestly, and he's pretty sure "in over his head" is the understatement of the century, but failing isn't an option.]
I'm not saying it'll be easy. But like heck I'll sit back and not do anything. I'm the only one that's faced him at all. Without me, Wonderland's toast. So I'll find a way. There's not another option.
no subject
I didn't say sit back and pray for a miracle--
[And because he recognizes that level of stubbornness, he also recognizes this kid isn't the type to sit back at all. But it's being smart about it that's the problem.]
I'm saying there are actual monster hunters here who know plenty about demons. Putting our heads together is a better bet than this thing getting inside them and twisting them inside out, you get it?
[Listen to him, the voice of reason. Who would've thought? The worst thing Adam can think of is a kid like Dipper jumping the gun and running off by himself, thinking he can handle a monster by himself. It'd happened before. It'd happened to him. He'd been stupid, thinking he had everything under control.
Dipper really, really doesn't want to follow that path to its natural conclusion.]
no subject
[Chest hair, he thinks bitterly. They'd probably accept it if he had chest hair. And a deeper voice. And a few more feet of height. They see him as a kid, so they'll never listen. And he knows exactly what would happen if he did go to whoever Adam is thinking of, whichever adult monster hunter knows so much better. They'd be in charge. Dipper would be lucky if they even let him help with the non-dangerous research parts. Working with adults tends to turn into working by yourself anyway. If you want to get anything done, at least.]
And I never said I wouldn't take help.
no subject
[Adam's already deep voice goes lower still, not angry but hard. It's not a game, fucking around with things way over his head. Dipper needs to get that.]
Do you want to help, or are you just holding off so you can be the hero?
[All Dipper's doing now is puffing out his chest and demanding attention, exactly like a kid.]
no subject
[He likes being the hero. But that doesn't mean he thinks it's a game. He's almost gotten hurt before. He's almost gotten other people hurt. He knows the risks, but he's good at dealing with them. He's found something where he really excels, and why shouldn't he be proud of that? Why shouldn't he enjoy what he does? It might be dangerous, but it's also fun, and he wouldn't trade away anything that had happened that summer, even the parts that haven't been great.]
no subject
Well, the very least Adam could do is not let the kid take other people down with him.]
I want to to know how to handle this thing so I'm not a sitting duck, pretty sure we all would. So wow me with what you got, Mr. Miyagi, 'cause I'm not about to hang out and get killed, either. And if you want to go running after demons afterward, knock yourself out.
[Okay, so maybe he's exaggerating with that last bit, he doesn't actually want Dipper to end up red mist and find out the hard way how people revive here, but the point stands: Adam's not relying on a pre-teen to fight his battles for him. He wants to know everything he can now, not after the boy's done poking demon with a stick for shits and giggles.]
no subject
[He leans forward, scowling.]
And the thing about going into peoples' heads? It's not a game. You really want me to just give all of Wonderland a free ticket to the mindscape? Must be nice having no secrets or enemies at all.
no subject
[Like try years of hallucinations in the pit that had been no more than mental bear traps, ready to spring and shred what was left of his consciousness a little more each time.
Dipper's seriously talking to the wrong guy if he's looking for someone to soapbox at on that count.]
So you didn't get him out of your head, it was someone else's? What is that, like double possession?
[Now that's a pleasant thought. Not.]
no subject
More like... quadruple in this case. I brought back-up. But it worked out.
no subject
And it sounds like Dipper had gotten lucky, too. After coming out the other end of possession, Adam's a firm believer that dicking around in somebody's head is a big "no-no," no matter who's doing it.]
What happened?
no subject
no subject
[That's the part Adam's most interested in. If he thinks of it like a possession, like what Michael had done to him, then that could be the best way to fight the fucker off.]
How?
no subject
no subject
And you just... kicked him out.
