[Damon is not happy, and definitely not drunk enough for this. At first, he assumed he'd been hallucinating, on some trip after drinking bad blood. However, he has been roaming Wonderland for hours on this bright and early morning, while everyone else was likely asleep. He’s poked his head in where it doesn’t belong, waiting for the hallucination to fade. Spoilers: it doesn’t. He finally studies the communication device, accepting that this is either one very long dream or he’s actually here. Somehow. He’s on the main floor, pressed up against the marble pillar, staring up at the ceiling. It takes minimal effort to skim through previous entries before he switches to video.]

Question #1, for the masses: How drunk do you have to be for this place to start making sense? Because I’m starting to think this poor, lonely bottle's not gonna cut it. [Damon looks to the bottle in his hand with a little sigh, tapping his fingers on its surface.] Looks like we're not in Kansas anymore, Toto.

[He takes a long drink, swallows, and sends the camera a slow but absolutely charming smirk:]

Question #2: what’s the one thing you wish someone had told you on your first day in the merry old Land of Wonder, but failed to?

[Damon points a finger at the camera with the hand that's still partly wound around the bottle] And go. Best answers get a pony.

[Look. Nobody has ever accused Angel of being smooth, except maybe Buffy-- before she knew him well enough to know better.]

Not much. We weren't exactly close, personal friends-- but I know what you are.

[Even if Damon had never said, he would have been able to smell it, sense it. Vampires always found one another.]

We have some things in common. I also got to know a few of the Mikaelsons.

[His expression is carefully neutral, but his tone is enough to imply that he didn't necessarily consider that a good thing.]

[Damon grimaces, because this is not how he wanted to start out his time in a whole new world~ with his vampire status known to at least two people who he has never met before.]

Great. I'll just add you to the list of people who know what I am without my knowing anything about them.

[There's like three people on that list as far as he knows right now so he's being a drama king, but this is not surprising in the slightest. He tilts his head to the side when he mentions the Mikaelsons at the same time he has mentioned vampires. He can guess it has to do with the Originals, but he hasn't actually learned their last name yet so he's going to ask first.]

So you're a vampire too?

Which ones did you have the... pleasure of making an acquaintance with?

I'd wear a sign, but it would clash with my outfit.

[That said, he's pretty damn open about what he is. Better to be honest than keep secrets and have it bite him in the ass later.]

Klaus. [He makes a face, briefly. Klaus hadn't exactly been his favorite.] Elijah's manners were much better. Their sister was here, but I only ever met her in passing.

...you'd wear a sign? Are people really so accepting of vampires here or do you have a death wish?

[Damon makes a face, folding his arms across his chest with a clear grimace at the mention of Klaus. So that was their last name. Good to know for the future]

Yeah, Klaus isn't anyone's favorite. [As if he senses the narration] Elijah has excellent manners and class, but you can't trust him.

[As for Rebekah, well... his experience with her has been brief in comparison.]

I wouldn't say accepting, but I've found that if I'm open about what I am, some people are more inclined to believe that I'm not interested in hurting anyone.

[Some, but not all. Still, it makes a difference.]

Believe me. I don't make the mistake of trusting many people.

Huh. That seems very... trusting of them.

[Far more trusting than Damon would ever be. If someone tells him they're big, bad, and powerful, it's more reasons to not trust the person, but Damon doesn't exactly go around making friendship bracelets with... anyone.]

Pretty smart of you at least. Still not sure about the whole Share-y Vampire factoid, but it's smart to not trust people especially Elijah-shaped people.

I did only say some. And it wasn't immediate. It's taken time to earn their trust.

[For those he's earned it with at all. There are still those who treat him warily, and he's sure there always will be. Angelus' appearance in Wonderland certainly hadn't helped his case.]

I know how to take care of myself. That includes knowing to keep the Mikaelsons at arm's length. Still not sure about you.

[He pauses again, just for a beat.]

You know Elena.

Really? Most people make an opinion about me really quickly.

[They tend to think he's a dick unless he's being charming towards him then they tend to think what he wants them to think. There's a pause though. It's helpless the way his countenance changes once Angel mentions that one word, that one name.

Vampires are Elena's catnip, and Damon doesn't trust anyone but he knows firsthand just how dangerous vampires are (because he is one, a big, bad dangerous vampire).]

We're close. [There's an edge of protectiveness to his voice.] You know Elena.

I'll admit, your first impression last time around wasn't exactly a good one.

[This one has been marginally better, at least by Angel's standards. It's the fact that Damon and Elena are close, however, that actually means something to him. Elena's a smart girl. If she thinks there's something to the Salvatores, then he has no choice but to believe her, even if he's never had the opportunity to get to know either of them well.]

We're friends. [The answer is both simple and honest.] We've helped each other here and there. She's important to me.

[Anyone close enough for him to consider a friend is. It's not a title he offers to everyone.]

That does sound like me.

[Damon tilts his head to the side with a little smirk, because he still didn't get Cami liking having him around. It's strange. He's a dick. He is very openly a dick unless he's trying to charm someone for some reason or another. There's always a reason though. He doesn't need a reason to be a dick.

His gaze narrows more at the She's important to me (a wave of a bunch of possessive emotions winds around him. it's unfair, it's selfish, Damon's both of these things without apology at this point in his slow development). Vampires are Elena Gilbert catnip. Elena Gilbert is also vampire catnip, and Damon is just cautious.]

That's Elena. Always helpful. [he smirks then but elena is compassionate, far more compassionate than him] She's important to me too. [more important. there's the implication wrapped around his words.]

[Angel doesn't miss that inflection, the possessive nature of it, the shift in Damon's stance, however subtle it may be. There's a great deal being said in between the words they've actually chosen to offer one another, and his gaze narrows slightly in reply, thoughtful, skeptical.]

Then we shouldn't have any problems.

[Because at the end of the day, Angel assumes that Elena's safety means a great deal to the both of them. It doesn't necessarily make them friends, but perhaps tenuous allies.]

[Damon lifts up the drink he's currently downing in Angel's direction as he tilts his head to the side.]

No, we shouldn't.

[Assuming they both care about Elena and both care about her safety, they shouldn't have any at all. God, he has some serious hero hair though for being a vampire.]

[There's something about Damon that still doesn't sit right with him, if only because their encounters in the past had been so tense, if brief, but it's a step in the right direction-- a tenuous truce, a common interest that would keep them from marking one another as enemies right off the bat. Maybe.]

Guess that's that.

[As ever, Angel is a champion conversationalist.]

So. When do I get that pony?

[Damon is a champion conversationalist when he wants to be, but he usually doesn't want to be. Two peas in a pod. He does smirk at the question.]

You tell me the place, and I'll be sure to drop it off with a bow.

[He'll speed right on over with a hand picked pony. Special delivery for Hero-Hair.]

[If an actual pony does show up, Angel is pretty sure Cordelia is going to have a conniption, but in the name of keeping a running gag going:]

Angel Investigations, fourth floor. Door is always open.

[More or less. Not like he needs to sleep.]

[Damon closes the video without another word, but he does dart over later with all his blur of vampire speed to aid him.

A pony is left in that open door.

It's not a real one.

But it is one chosen specifically for Angel from Damon's massive group of them on the floor of his otherwise classy room.
